One of the biggest trends in sports gambling right now is live betting. If you are a bettor, it is likely you have done some live betting. Like any form of betting on sports, live betting is all about research and timing. It’s exactly what it sounds like too.
Live betting involves placing a wager on an event that is in the process of being played. Normally, moneyline, point spread, and totals bets are pllaced prior to a game starting. Those markets close once the game has started. However, bettors can still wager in those markets – as well as many others – via live betting.
Live Betting Strategies
Most sportsbooks now offer some form of live betting. Bettors can take advantage of live betting, but have to be prepared in advance. If you are going to engage in live betting, it is imperative that you have a few different sportsbook accounts. That way, you can compare and take the best price on a live bet.
One of the easiest live betting strategies can be used in NBA games. Most NBA games will feature runs. Take yesterday’s Minnesota-Denver Game 7 playoff game. Denver led 53-28 at the half. If you were live betting this game, you would have been waiting for the TWolves to start clawing back. Once they did, you would jump on Minnesota on the live moneyline.
The TWolves went on a 15-1 run to cut Denver’s lead to six with 4:40 left in the third quarter. At this point, you could see that Minnesota was playing extremely well. At any point during that run, you could have likely taken the TWolves at plus-money on the moneyline or opted for the safer spread bet.
Ultimately, Minnesota would go on to win the game 98-90. If you had bet on the Nuggets before the game, you could have used live betting to mitigate that loss and even come out ahead. For more on live betting, come back to ScoresAndStats or visit our sister sites Sports Hub and Game Advisers.
Jones & Jones Pile Up Wins
It sounds like a law firm, but here at ScoresAndStats, Jones & Jones are a pair of our best sports handicappers. Yesterday, both Robert and Dan – Jones & Jones – were in our daily Top 5. Robert was the overall leader with a perfect 3-0 record. Dan was also perfect, going 2-0 and winding up fifth on the board.
Let’s check out how all of our top cappers did yesterday.
- Big Jones: As stated, Robert went 3-0 yesterday, hitting three MLB picks. He had the Angels with the upset over the Rangers at +140. Great call by Big Jones! He could have taken even more had he been live betting on the game. Still, Robert cleared $340 yesterday, which moved him into second place on our 30-day leaderboard. He’s up $2065 for the month.
- Knup is back: Knup Sports took a little hiatus from the top of the board, but they came screaming back with a vengeance yesterday. Knup went 8-4 and won $311. Look for another big day from Knup Sports. They’ve got 10 MLB picks in the system for today’s games. Wonder if there are any live betting picks?
- Acker unbeaten: James Acker hit all three of his picks yesterday and added profits of $300 to his bankroll. He is clawing his way back from a few losses this week. James has three MLB picks for today in our database. He’s just one of many of our ScoresAndStats professional handicappers.
- Uncle Sal: Sal Lombardi is well known here at ScoresAndStats. The guy is phenomenal at handicapping hockey and baseball and he was at it again yesterday. Sal went 9-6 and ended up with $225 in profits.
- Little Jones: The other Jones – Dan – hit both of his picks and took home $215 yesterday. That puts him up $587 for the last three days and $842 for the week.
Light Schedule Today
After a busy weekend for sportsbooks, it’s the lull after the storm today. It’s a much lighter schedule, especially since there are no NBA playoff games. After the pair of Game 7s yesterday, the league has a day off. The Eastern Conference finals will start tomorrow. Indiana will face top-seeded Boston at TD Garden.
Today, we’ve got much less on the schedule, but there are still plenty of solid betting opportunities. Don’t forget, with live betting in the mix, there are still thousands of bets on the table today. ScoresAndStats, as always, is here to help. Join today (if you haven’t already) to gain access to the world’s top handicappers. If you want to be a profitable sports bettor, we can help you get there.
Here’s what’s on today’s schedule.
- NHL Game 7: After two Game 7s in the NBA yesterday, we get treated to an NHL Game 7 tonight. Edmonton, which tied the series with a 5-1 home win on Saturday, travels to Vancouver to face the Canucks. The winner advances to face Dallas in the Western Conference finals which begin on Thursday. There will surely be some live betting opportunities tonight. Game time is 9:00 p.m.
- WNBA: There’s no NBA tonight, but there are two WNBA games. One features the league’s newest star, Caitlin Clark. Clark’s Indiana Fever will host Connecticut tonight. The Fever lost their season opener 92-71 to the Sun. Connecticut is a 6.5-point favorite tonight. The other game tonight pits Seattle at New York. Both games tip off at 7:00 p.m.
- Monday baseball: After a long weekend of baseball, we get 12 games today. That includes a Padres-Braves doubleheader. Yu Darvish pitched a gem last night and San Diego beat Atlanta to take a 2-0 series. Game 1 today starts at 12:20 p.m. Game 2 begins at 6:20 p.m.
- Soccer: Italy’s Serie A will end its regular season on May 26. There are two matches today. Salernitana plays Hellas Verona and Bologna hosts Juventus.
- French Open: The French Open begins today. Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are the early favorites on the men’s side. Iga Swiatek, winner of the last two French Opens, is the women’s favorite.
Road Teams Rule the Day
In NBA history, the home team in a Game 7 has won 75 percent of the time. Yesterday, both the New York Knicks and the Denver Nuggets were home favorites. Both teams lost. It was an interesting turn of events.
Yesterday also brought some outstanding performances. From golf to the NBA, there is plenty to talk about.
Let’s recap.
- TWolves rally: The whole home team in a Game 7 thing appeared to be in play yesterday in Denver as the Nuggets got out to an early 20-point lead over Minnesota. Then, the TWolves rallied. Karl-Anthony Towns and Jaden McDaniels each had 23 points as Minnesota won 98-90 and advanced to the Western Conference finals. If you were live betting the TWolves when they trailed by 15 at the end of the first half, congratulations!
- Pacers shoot to win: Indiana set an NBA playoff record by hitting 67.1 percent of their shots yesterday. The Pacers beat the New York Knicks 130-109 to advance to the Eastern Conference finals. Game 1 of that series starts tomorrow night.
- Schauffele wins 1st major: Xander Schauffele picked up his first major victory, shooting a final round 65 to take the PGA Championship. Bryson DeChambeau shot a 64 in the fourth round to take second and Scottie Scheffler wound up in a tie for eighth place, eight shots behind Schauffele.
