COVID-19 wreaked havoc on another Saturday of college football with numerous games cancelled or postponed. Recapping last week’s top picks for Scores&Stats, I posted three wins against three losses with the other four games off the board.
Best College Football Week 13 Predictions
Turning to this Saturday’s slate of games, here are another 10 picks with hopes that all the matchups will still take place since most are highly anticipated heated rivalries.
Penn State Nittany Lions at Michigan Wolverines Pick
Best Bet: OVER 58½ Points
It is hard to believe that Penn State is still looking for its first win of the year either straight-up or against the spread. Michigan has not been all that much better at 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS. The total has gone OVER in four of those five contests.
Georgia Southern Eagles at Georgia State Panthers Pick
Best Bet: Georgia Southern -1½
Georgia Southern has covered the closing spread in four of its last six games against Georgia State. The Eagles are also 4-2 ATS in their last six games overall. The Panthers are 7-13 SU in their last 20 Sun Belt games.
Miami (Ohio) Redhawks at Akron Zips Pick
Best Bet: Miami-OH -14
This in-state matchup in the MAC should be a one-way affair with the Zips struggling to a SU 0- 3 start (1-2 ATS). The Redhawks have covered the closing number in seven of their last 10 games going back to last season.
(#20) Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at Texas State Bobcats Pick
Best Bet: Coastal Carolina -17
At 8-0 SU with a profitable 6-1-1 record ATS, now is not the time to go against the Chanticleers. The Bobcats have played a full schedule with just two SU wins against nine losses. Texas State should be out of this game by halftime.
(#22) Auburn Tigers at (#1) Alabama Crimson Tide Pick
Best Bet: OVER 62½ Points
As one of the biggest rivalries in college football, anything can happen. However, the gap between these two teams this season is rather wide. Look for both offenses to put on a good show to take this total OVER.
(#11) Northwestern Wildcats at Michigan State Spartans Pick
Best Bet: Northwestern -13½
Coming off the big upset against Wisconsin, the Wildcats could run the table this season with a current record of 5-0 SU (4-0-1 ATS). Michigan State (1-3 SU and ATS) is just riding out the string. I also like the half point in Northwestern’s favor on the two touchdown spread.
Mississippi State Bulldogs at Mississippi Rebels Pick
Best Bet: UNDER 67½ Points
Neither of these teams have a SU winning record this season coming into this SEC in-state rivalry. However, this should still be a hard-fought battle that keeps scoring lower than expected. The total has stayed UNDER in seven of the last nine meetings at Ole Miss.
Tennessee Volunteers at Vanderbilt Commodores Pick
Best Bet: Vanderbilt +12
Tennessee has gone 2-5 SU in seven games with a 1-5-1 record ATS. The Commodores are still looking for their first SU win of the year but they have played teams tough at 4-3 ATS. Vanderbilt is 7-1 ATS in its last eight games against the Volunteers.
(#13) Georgia Bulldogs at South Carolina Gamecocks Pick
Best Bet: Georgia -21½
Georgia is in the midst of a very disappointing season with losses to Alabama and Florida. Yet, this is a game that the Bulldogs should win with relative ease. South Carolina has failed to cover in four of its last five games.
(#14) Oklahoma Sooners at West Virginia Mountaineers Pick
Best Bet: Oklahoma -11
The Sooners have rebounded from a slow start to win their last five games both SU and ATS. They have posted a combined 165 points in their last three outings. West Virginia has failed to cover in its last six games against Oklahoma.
