On Sunday, June 16th, the NASCAR Cup Series will be live from the Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, for their 17th race of the season – the Iowa Corn 350 Powered By Ethanol (Iowa Corn 350). This event marks the first time that the Cup Series has raced at the Iowa Speedway.

Currently, Kyle Larson is on top of the driver standings as he took home the checkered flag in Sonoma last weekend. That marked the third victory for the #5 team as they look to keep their foot on the gas and pull away from the field for another Cup Series Championship.

Let’s take a look at the latest Iowa Corn 350 odds, courtesy of the top NASCAR betting sites and make our Cup Series predictions for this weekend’s big Iowa race.

About The Track

The Iowa Speedway is a 7/8-mile short track with four turns of 12 to 14 degrees banking, a frontstretch of 10 degrees, and a backstretch with four degrees banking. This asphalt track used to host annual Xfinity Series races from 2011 to 2019 and the Craftsman Truck Series from 2009 to 2019.

Although the Cup Series hasn’t held an official race at this track, many of NASCAR’s top drivers have competed at this speedway in the Xfinity or Trucks series. Additionally, pundits believe that this track has a lot of similarities to Richmond Raceway. So, we’ll use Richmond as one of the metrics for making our Iowa Corn 350 predictions.

Sunday’s race breaks down as follows:

  • Total Miles: 306.25 miles
  • Total Laps: 350 laps
  • Stage 1: 100 laps
  • Stage 2: 125 laps
  • Stage 3: 125 laps

Iowa 350 Betting Favorites

The following drivers are the odds-on favorites to win the Iowa 350 this weekend:

Christopher Bell +380

  • Win: 2
  • Top 5: 4
  • Top 10: 9

Bell enters this weekend as the clear-cut betting favorite over Kyle Larson and the rest of the field. Bell put together a solid five weeks of racing, where he tallied four Top 10s and a victory in Charlotte three weeks ago. Over that span, the #20 car has gone from 15th to 9th in the standings.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver is the favorite in Iowa for a few reasons. Bell has shown a knack for racing well at sub-mile tracks, including the Iowa Speedway, where he won in 2018 and 2019 during his stint in the Xfinity Series.

At Richmond, he’s scored four Top 5s and six Top 10s in eight Cup Series appearances. Earlier this year, Bell finished sixth and led nine laps. With an average Richmond finish of 7.5 and two victories at Iowa Speedway, it’s easy to see why he’s the odds-on favorite. Bell also has odds of -185 to finish in the Top 5 and -500 to finish in the Top 10.

Kyle Larson +550

  • Win: 3
  • Top 5: 7
  • Top 10: 8

According to oddsmakers, Kyle Larson is the biggest threat to upstaging Bell this weekend in Iowa. The #5 car is first in the driver standings with a 16-point lead over his teammate Chase Elliott. He’s also leading the pack with three wins, seven Top 5s, seven stage wins, and 675 laps led.

Larson came off a victory in Sonoma last weekend, where he led for almost half of the total laps. The Hendrick Motorsports driver has been on a heater the last five races with two wins, three Top 5s, and four Top 10s. He would have an even bigger advantage in the standings if it weren’t for a crash in Darlington three races ago. Larson also won at Kansas during this stretch of races.

For his career, Larson does have two Xfinity appearances at Iowa Speedway. Both races were in 2013 and he finished fifth in each event. At Richmond, he has two wins, five Top 5s, nine Top 10s and a 10.8 average finish in 19 appearances. Larson finished third at Richmond earlier this season and won at this track in the spring of 2023.

The #5 car has a lot of momentum heading into this weekend’s race and will certainly test Bell’s command at Iowa Speedway.

Denny Hamlin +700

  • Win: 3
  • Top 5: 7
  • Top 10: 8

Like Larson, Denny Hamlin is having a strong 2024 with three wins already. Hamlin is currently third in the standings as he fell from the top spot with a 38th-place result at Sonoma last weekend. The #11 car blew an engine just a few laps into the race and fell from first to third in the driver standings. That DNF ended a five-race streak where Hamlin finished in the Top 5, which included a victory at Dover.

Hamlin won at Richmond earlier this year, which makes him more of a threat this weekend than what the odds indicate. In fact, Hamlin has five victories in 35 appearances at Richmond. He’s also tallied 19 Top 5s and 23 Top 10s. Hamlin has finished in the top two at Richmond in five of his last seven appearances.

With a strong showing at Richmond for his career and a hot streak over the last six weeks of the season, the #11 car is being grossly overlooked at Iowa this weekend.

Ryan Blaney +800

  • Win:0
  • Top 5: 4
  • Top 10: 6

The defending Cup Series champ rounds out the Top 4 betting favorites for the Iowa Corn 350. I’m a little bit surprised that Blaney has odds this high, considering he hasn’t had a strong 2024 season so far. Currently, Blaney sits 12th in the standings without any victories.

The #12 car finished 7th last weekend at Sonoma, which ended a three-race streak where he scored 24th or worse. It was the first Top 10 finish in his last five races. Blaney hasn’t had a Top 5 result since April 7th in Martinsville when he finished 5th. The week prior to this result was Richmond, where he ended up 19th.

Blaney has never won or finished in the Top 5 at Richmond. In fact, he has a 20.0 average finish at this raceway. The reason his Iowa Corn 350 odds are this high on the boards is due to his success at Iowa Speedway during his Xfinity career.

Blaney has an average finish of 5.4 at this track, including a victory in 2015. In fact, he’s finished in the Top 10 for all five appearances at Iowa. However, his last appearance was in August 2015.

With the way that Blaney has been running this season, his poor showings at Richmond, and nearly 10 years removed from his Iowa victory, I would avoid the #12 car this weekend. Maybe he cracks the Top 10, but those odds of -275 are not worth the risk. There are better opportunities to win some money this weekend.

Iowa Corn 350 Betting Value

Martin Truex Jr. and his +1100 odds are my choice for the best betting value in Iowa this Sunday. The reason why Truex is not higher on the boards is due to his recent run of bad luck on the track. The #19 car has three finishes of 25th or worse in the last four races. This bad run dropped him from second to fifth in the standings. Additionally, Truex has yet to win a race this season.

Now that we got the bad out of the way, let’s get to the good stuff which leads me to believe that Truex could challenge for the checkered flag this weekend.

Truex is third in the field when it comes to laps led at 447. Only Larson and Hamlin have more laps led in races this season. Despite some of his poor performances, like running out of fuel in Sonoma last weekend to finish 27th, Truex has finished all 16 races up to this point.

At Richmond, Truex has 18 Top 10 finishes in 36 career appearances. Digging deeper into his numbers at this raceway, we see that the #19 car has been a beast over the last 11 events. During that span, Truex finished 11th or better in every race. Additionally, he’s won three times and has eight Top 5 finishes, including a 4th place result earlier this spring.

I like the Joe Gibbs Racing veteran to compete with the favorites for a shot at the checkered flag in Iowa on Sunday.

The Best Iowa Corn 350 Longshot

Chase Briscoe and his +5500 odds are my top choice as the best longshot to win the Iowa Corn 350. Currently, Briscoe is sitting 17th in the driver standings and needs to pick things up if he wants to make the Cup Series Playoffs. As of now, he will be outside looking in.

However, there is some hope for Briscoe this weekend, which is largely based on how he’s performed at Iowa in the past. In three career Xfinity Series starts at Iowa Speedway, Briscoe has a 6.0 average finish, three Top 10s, and won the 2019 summer race. Unfortunately, his Iowa accomplishments haven’t translated to success at Richmond. But that’s why he’s a long shot.

Briscoe made the Cup Series Playoffs in 2022 and finished ninth overall. He has the potential to compete with the top series in NASCAR, and I believe we’ll see a glimpse of that potential this weekend.

Best Iowa Corn 350 Top 5 Bet

Denny Hamlin is my choice as the best Top 5 bet this weekend. Currently, Hamlin has -105 odds to finish in the Top 5 at Iowa which is almost even money. On the season, the #11 car is tied with Larson and Brad Keselowski for the most Top 5 finishes at seven apiece.

Though he hasn’t raced at Iowa in the top two NASCAR series, Hamlin’s success at Richmond bodes well for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver this Sunday.

In 35 career Richmond starts, Hamlin has 19 Top 5s and an 8.3 average finish. He’s scored four Top 4 finishes in the last five races at Richmond, including two wins. I like Hamlin’s overall driving skills, solid 2024 season, and Richmond’s dominance to play a major role in at least a Top 5 finish, if not a checkered flag, this weekend.

Best Iowa Corn 350 Top 10 Bet

Kyle Busch has -110 odds to finish in the Top 10 and I believe that is solid betting value for us this weekend. Busch’s days as a top contender for the Cup Series Championship seem to be in his rear-view mirror. But that doesn’t mean he can’t still compete and finish in the Top 10.

Busch currently has five Top 10 finishes in 16 races this season. He also ran two races in Iowa in the Xfinity series, where he won in 2010 and finished second in 2009. Among active drivers, Busch is one of the most prolific racers at Richmond. The younger Busch brother has six wins, 10 Top 5s, 28 Top 10s, and a 7.4 average finish in 37 starts. That’s a 75.7 percent Top 10 finishing rate at Richmond.

We’re not betting on Busch to win the race on Sunday, but -110 odds for the #8 car to finish in the Top 10 this weekend are just too good to pass up.

Who Wins The Iowa Corn 350?

My Top 5 for this weekend are Bell, Larson, Hamlin, Truex, and possibly Brad Keselowski or Chris Beuscher, who won at Iowa in 2015.

Truex really needs to buck his downward trend, and similar Iowa Speedway tracks, like Richmond or Phoenix, are places he’s had success at in his career. With that said, I feel more comfortable with looking at Bell, Larson, or Hamlin to win this race.

I believe Larson is going to win the 2024 Cup Series Championship as he looks poised and on a mission to score his second career championship. But it won’t be easy as Hamlin has been every bit as good as Larson has this year.

However, when I think of Hamlin winning a title, the saying “always the bride’s maid, but never the bride” comes to mind. Hamlin can come close to winning the championship but always falls short. I think he will fall short this season and this weekend.

Of all the drivers heading into this weekend’s race, Bell instills the most confidence, which is why he’s the odds-on favorite to take home the checkered flag. The #20 car is starting to gain momentum with three straight Top 9 finishes and a victory in Charlotte a few weeks ago.

His past success at Iowa Speedway, coupled with his solid results at Richmond, make me a believer in Bell this Sunday.

Best NASCAR Iowa Corn 350 Prop Bets

The following NASCAR Cup Series Iowa Corn 350 prop bets are courtesy of DraftKings:

Winning Manufacturer

  • Toyota +125
  • Ford +200
  • Chevrolet +220

When looking at the betting board for Iowa this weekend, there is just one Chevy in the Top 6 odds-on favorites and that’s Kyle Larson. Ford has two drivers, Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano. However, Toyota has three drivers in Christopher Bell, Denny Hamlin, and Martin Truex Jr. Not only do they all drive for the same manufacturer, but they all also drive for Joe Gibbs Racing.

I believe those three JGR drivers will all finish in the Top 5, and two of them will compete for the checkered flag. Since I picked Bell to win this race, I’m definitely sticking with Toyota to win this NASCAR prop bet.

NASCAR Bet: Toyota +125

Top Chevrolet Driver

  • Kyle Larson +135
  • William Byron +330
  • Ross Chastain +550
  • Chase Elliott +550
  • Kyle Busch +750

I’ve tabbed Larson to finish in the Top 5 this weekend and Busch to finish in the Top 10. With that said, I wouldn’t be surprised if William Byron also scores a Top 10 result. Byron is 6th in the driver standings and also has three victories on the year just like Larson and Hamlin. However, he also has a victory at Iowa Speedway, unlike Larson and Hamlin. Busch is the only other Chevy driver on this list with an Iowa win.

For the 2024 season, Larson is clearly the best Chevy driver, and I expect him to have the best result this Sunday. However, if you are feeling a bit more adventurous, then look at Byron and his +330 odds.

NASCAR Bet: Kyle Larson +135

Top Ford Driver

  • Ryan Blaney +250
  • Joey Logano +250
  • Brad Keselowski +250
  • Chris Buescher +600
  • Chase Briscoe +1200

The Toyota and Chevy prop bets are pretty straightforward, and Bell and Larson are the clear-cut favorites. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for this Ford prop bet. In fact, we have three drivers with the same +250 odds. And, at one point, they were all on Team Penske before Brad Keselowski left.

Briscoe is my top longshot pick to win the Iowa Corn 500. He won at this track in 2019. Buescher is another driver that I think will perform well this weekend. He won a victory in Iowa back in 2015 and performed well in both Richmond and Phoenix this year. A Top 5 finish wouldn’t be out of the question for Buescher on Sunday.

As mentioned above, I would avoid Ryan Blaney at all costs this weekend despite his 2015 win in Iowa. His odds are too small for a driver who hasn’t looked like a championship contender this season. Joey Logano has some potential as well, but Briscoe and Buescher both provide better value.

With that said, I would like Brad Keselowski to finish as the Top Ford driver this Sunday. Currently, Keselowski sits 7th in the driver standings with one victory, seven Top 5s, and eight Top 10s. But what really makes me feel even more confident in the #6 car is the fact that he’s won at Iowa three times during his Xfinity career.

When you combine his past Iowa success with his current performance this season, Keselowski is the choice for this prop bet.

NASCAR Bet: Brad Keselowski +250

Top Toyota Driver

  • Christopher Bell +160
  • Denny Hamlin +330
  • Martin Truex Jr. +500
  • Ty Gibbs +550
  • Tyler Reddick +650

We have two options for approaching this prop bet. We can either go with Christopher Bell since we picked him to win the race, or we can hedge our bets by going with another Toyota driver for this Iowa Corn 350 prop bet.

Since NASCAR can be challenging to pick the race winner each week, I like to hedge my bets when possible. So, for this prop bet, my tip for betting on NASCAR is to pick someone other than Bell to finish as the Top Toyota driver.

Ty Gibbs sits 8th in the driver standings, and Tyler Reddick is 4th overall. Both drivers have had strong seasons to date. Reddick has a victory this year as well.

With that said, I still believe that Hamlin and Truex will finish higher than Gibbs and Reddick. I’ve tabbed both Hamlin and Truex to finish in the Top 5 this Sunday. Of the two, I like Hamlin to edge out his teammate this weekend.

For this NASCAR prop bet, let’s take Denny Hamlin to hedge our bet on Christopher Bell winning the Iowa Corn 500 on Sunday.

NASCAR Bet: Denny Hamlin +330
