2025 World Series Odds and Predictions
There are a number of different MLB betting markets worth taking advantage of as we inch closer to MLB Opening Day, and betting on the World Series has to be at the top of the list. Naturally, if you’re betting on that or trying to predict who wins the MLB divisions, then you should have some interest in who will win the MLB Pennants this season as well.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are always at the forefront of any World Series conversation, but are they still the betting favorites? Are they still the team you should back? Read on to find out!
When Is The World Series?
The 2025 MLB season is only just beginning, so there’s some time between now and when the World Series fires off. Due to that, there is no official date for the 2025 World Series just yet.
We know the MLB regular season concludes on September 28th, and the playoffs will follow immediately after. It’s a safe bet for it to arrive in October, however, just as it did a year ago.

---|---|
Los Angeles Dodgers (+240) | Atlanta Braves (+900) |
New York Yankees (+900) | New York Mets (+1100) |
Philadelphia Phillies (+1100) | Baltimore Orioles (+1600) |
Boston Red Sox (+1600) | Texas Rangers (+1800) |
Houston Astros (+2000) | Arizona Diamondbacks (+2800) |
Chicago Cubs (+2800) | San Diego Padres (+2800) |
Seattle Mariners (+2800) | Detroit Tigers (+3300) |
Minnesota Twins (+3300) | Cleveland Guardians (+4000) |
Kansas City Royals (+4000) | Milwaukee Brewers (+4500) |
Tampa Bay Rays (+4500) | Toronto Blue Jays (+4500) |
The odds to win it all have only gotten better for the Dodgers. L.A. was the team to beat following yet another title last October, and nothing has changed as we get closer to 2025 Opening Day.
What has changed, however, are the odds behind them. The New York Yankees are no longer by themselves as the second best bet to win the World Series. A devastating season-ending injury to star ace Gerrit Cole made sure of that, and now the pinstripes share second place with the Atlanta Braves.
The Phillies and Mets have also traded places over the past month, while Texas has jumped up by +1000 odds and Boston has leapt from +3300 to +1600.
Is that enough movement to deter you from just blindly backing the Dodgers? Maybe, maybe not. All I know for sure is the Dodgers remain as loaded as ever, and the team deemed most likely to stop them – the Yanks – no longer has their meal ticket.
Join me as I dive into the biggest threats to a Dodgers repeat, and make a prediction as to whether or not Shohei Ohtani and co. can make it happen. World Series Favorites
Check out the following MLB teams that are considered the odds-on favorites to win the 2025 World Series, according to the top sports betting sites.
Los Angeles Dodgers (+240)
Nobody beats the Dodgers but the Dodgers, it seems. L.A. is the most loaded team every single year, and they once again have the best collection of talent, from top to bottom.
Los Angeles even added “The Monster of the Reiwa Era”, 23-year old Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki, bolstering an already nasty pitching rotation. Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell already paced a stout defense, but landing an exciting prospect like Sasaki offers even more upside on the rubber.
Offensively, the Dodgers lost nothing. The lethal trio of Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts are still here, while the team added some power via Michael Conforto in free agency.
There just isn’t a weakness here, and that isn’t something people tend to want to hear about the defending champs. Once again, the only thing stopping L.A. from winning it all? Injuries or their own mistakes when it matters most.
Atlanta Braves (+900)
With the Yanks taking a step back due to Gerrit Cole’s bad news, the Atlanta Braves rise up and for the moment share the second best World Series odds for 2025.
It may not be long before they’re all alone in second place, and perhaps they can dream for much more than that. Atlanta should have superstar masher Ronald Acuna back by May, but they really don’t need to rush their ace in the hole, seeing as they still have a murderer’s row of hitters.
Matt Olson, Marcell Ozuna, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley still spearhead an explosive offense that ranked 4th in home runs a season ago. Atlanta could certainly work to be more patient at the plate, but this team undeniably has power for days.
Some may be shocked, but their offense may not even be their strength anymore. Last year, the Braves paced all of the MLB in ERA (3.49) and strikeouts (1,553). Led by Chris Sale, Spencer Strider, and Reynaldo Lopez, this is one of the most fearsome defenses in all of baseball.
Health is the concern here. But if the Braves can keep their key pieces in play, they just might run into the Dodgers in the World Series again for the second time this decade.
New York Yankees (+900)
The Yanks had the second best World Series odds after missing out on a title last season. They are miraculously still in the mix and tied for second, despite losing Cy Young winner, Gerrit Cole.
Cole did not look sharp during his brief stint in spring training, but he still had a respectable 3.41 ERA with 99 strikeouts in just 17 games last year. Provided he was back to himself, he was going to be the face of New York’s pitching rotation, but now the team will have to wait until next year at the earliest to see if he can carry them over the mountain.
The good news? The Yanks still have the bats. Losing Juan Soto stings, but Aaron Judge is still here and the franchise added power hitters in Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Bellinger to help replace him.
All things told, it probably won’t be enough. Surviving Cole’s absence alone could be a losing battle, while Soto’s departure could ultimately be felt the most. New York remains a contender until they’re not, however.
New York Mets (+1100)
Lastly, we have the Mets, who are typically offseason champions, but haven’t managed to actually win a World Series since 1986.
New York has endured endless bad luck, of course, largely due to injuries. They might be able to get it going this year, however, as they did reach the playoffs last year and got some positive momentum brewing.
In addition to that, they gathered up some reinforcements, stealing the explosive Juan Soto from the Yankees, and bolstering their bullpen with the likes of Paul Blackburn, Frankie Montas, and Griffin Canning.
None of those arms are anything to write home about, but collectively they make the Mets a little bit stronger on the mound. Soto adds a serious punch and efficiency to New York’s offense, though, which already could smack it (6th in home runs) and was plenty efficient (8th in walks and 12th in batting average).
The point? New York could be a team on the rise. They were already making noise last year, and they went out and got better. If they can improve their play internally, they could be a problem.
Best World Series Betting Value
You have your top 2025 World Series contenders, and then there is the next tier of options that offer some value, but may not be quite as reliable. Value is also in the eye of the beholder, so take it as you will.
That said, I see two teams offering pretty good value as things stand.
Baltimore Orioles (+1600)
Baltimore is very interesting, as they already proved their worth last year, going 91-71 and finishing second in the AL East. They’ll have their sights set on more than just making the playoffs in 2025, of course, especially with the Yanks at risk of tumbling down the standings.
If that happens – and perhaps even if it doesn’t – the young O’s will be ready to pounce. Baltimore is in play no matter what, as they have a young and explosive offense (2nd in home runs), anchored by the likes of Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, Ryan Mountcastle, and Jackson Holiday.
The sky’s the limit with this offense, but the pitching staff is quickly becoming a problem for opposing teams, too. Corbin Burnes is the team’s biggest asset on the mound, but the team added the promising Tomoyuki Sugano this offseason, and also have Charlie Morton, Dean Kremer, and Grayson Rodriguez to turn to.
The O’s are not the most experienced team in the league, but they make up for that with elite power and a loaded pitching rotation. All things considered, they’re a pretty awesome value at this +1600 price tag.
Chicago Cubs (+2800)
Baltimore is shaping up as the top World Series value bet in the AL, but on the NL’s side the top value has to be the Chicago Cubs.
Former Milwaukee Brewers GM Craig Counsel went full betrayal mode when he took over the Cubs last year, but he did a good job, quickly morphing a struggling franchise into an up and coming unit that may now threaten for a playoff spot, if not much more.
Chicago was a respectable 83-79 last year, finishing just 10 games out of the top spot in the NL Central. While they missed the cut come playoff time, they did a lot of good things, finishing with a +67 run differential, ranking 10th in collective ERA, and generating the 6th most walks and 8th most steals.
The only thing really missing from Chicago’s arsenal has been power. The team rectified that during the offseason, as they brought in former Houston Astros slugger Kyle Tucker and former Dodgers 3B, Justin Turner.
Overall, the Cubs already had the tools to give it a go. Now they added some pop and if they keep improving, they could do serious damage in the playoffs under Counsel’s guidance.
Top World Series Longshot
Baseball is one of the most volatile sports year to year. It’s where guaranteed champions go to die, where so-so wild card teams can get hot and go on miraculous runs, and where bad teams can appear to be good – for a little while, at least.
Because of that reality, the Dodgers aren’t locks, and even teams as lowly as the Marlins and White Sox aren’t completely dead until they are.
I won’t go that far, of course, with the Milwaukee Brewers being my favorite 2025 World Series longshot bet. This one really isn’t out of left field, though, seeing as the Brew Crew literally won the NL Central division in 2024, and have pretty much the same roster going into 2025.
Rhys Hosking stayed in town, William Conteras is still here, and the team is full of young studs just waiting to erupt. The likes of Jackson Chourio, Garrett Mitchell, and Brice Turang are just a few reasons to get excited, plus the return of a healthy Christian Yelich could be precisely what this offense missed down the stretch.
The Brewers were productive at the plate last year, finishing 8th in batting average, 2nd in stolen bases, and 3rd in walks. Milwaukee was elite at getting on the bases, and they could run with the best of them. Their patience at the plate and aggressiveness on the bases made them a tough team to fend off, while their pitching did well to keep them in games, too.
That part of their roster got a lift, as the talented Nestor Cortes came over from the Yanks, while the team still has Freddy Peralta and will hopefully be getting a healthy and effective Brandon Woodruff back.
Obviously one could argue that last season was basically lightning in a bottle for the Brewers, and it ultimately fizzled out in the playoffs. Perhaps, or maybe they just have a terrific recipe for success and can keep it going.
World Series Predictions
The Los Angeles Dodgers are a tough team to deny. They’re as talented as anyone, they’re still the team to beat in their division, and I’d be shocked if they didn’t at least reach the NLCS.
However, winning back-to-back titles isn’t easy. L.A. has also stumbled in the past, even when they’ve had what some would call even better teams than they have now. I realize they’re the team to beat, but the team I’d rather put my money on at the moment is the Atlanta Braves.
The return of Acuna is a big reason I am feeling ATL these days, but they also have the toughest pitching staff when at full strength. Until some big injuries drop, that’s really all you can go off of.
When looking at the combination of power and pitching, I think it’s very possible the Braves have enough to edge out the Dodgers. Their +900 odds are also good enough to convince me to take on some risk with this bet.
Bet: Atlanta Braves (+900)
World Series Prop Bets
The following World Series prop bets are courtesy of Bet365:
Word Series Division Winner
- NL West (+200)
- NL East (+300)
- AL East (+325)
- AL West (+700)
- AL Central (+800)
- NL Central (+1000)
This can be a fun World Series prop bet, depending on the MLB division. Why? Because it gives you more chances to win.
I think the obvious answer to many is the NL West. It offers the best odds, but you’re getting the Los Angeles Dodgers, along with every team in their division. Your price drops from L.A.’s own World Series odds, of course, but this is a strength in numbers bet.
For me, the best play is actually the NL East. The odds are more appealing at +300, and with three viable bets in that division – my pick the Atlanta Braves, along with the Mets and Phillies – you’re assuming far less risk.
Bet: NL East (+300)
State of World Series Winner
- The Field (+140)
- California (+210)
- New York (+425)
- Texas (+1000)
- Pennsylvania (+1100)
- Ohio (+2000)
- Missouri (+3000)
This is another World Series wager where you can lump the risk of a bet into a secondary bet. Your odds drop, but you assume a little less risk. I don’t love The Field here, as the champion is probably coming from one of these states – and if you don’t think it is, it makes more sense to target the team you prefer.
California, Texas, and New York are the best bets here, as they harbor multiple teams. California has this year’s favorite, but New York with the Yankees and Mets is probably the way to go here. Consider this a hedge against the Dodgers at their usual WS price, or my World Series winner pick.
Bet: New York (+425)
First Time World Series Winner
- Yes (+850)
- No (-1600)
The only team I really would consider for this bet is the Milwaukee Brewers, but if you’re going to go all in on the Brew Crew, you’d just simply bet on them individually.
Of course, this does throw five teams that have yet to win a title in together, but I’d rather take my chances on the most logical team over the others.
Milwaukee is a fun longshot bet, but they probably aren’t going to win. I doubt teams like Colorado, Seattle, San Diego, or Tampa Bay are winning in 2025, either.
Bet: No (-1600)
