2024 Women’s Wimbledon Odds and Predictions

On Monday, July 1, 2024, the Women’s Wimbledon tournament gets underway from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England.

The sport’s top stars will meet on the grass courts of the All England Club to battle for the most prestigious trophy in women’s tennis – the Venus Rosewater Dish.

Marketa Vondrousova is the reigning Wimbledon champ, but she’s not among the favorites for this year’s Grand Slam tournament. Those spots are reserved for Iga Swiatek, Aryana Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina. Both Swiatek and Sabalenka have won Grand Slams this year. Can Rybakina make it a third different Grand Slam winner in 2024?

Let’s take a look at the latest Women’s Wimbledon odds, share some tips for betting on tennis, and make our 2024 Women’s Wimbledon predictions. This Grand Slam tennis betting preview was written before the Women’s Wimbledon Draw.

Who Won Wimbledon 2023?

Market Vondrousova went on an incredible and surprising run last year to upset Jessica Pegula, Elina Svitolina and then Ons Jabeur to win the 2023 Women’s Wimbledon title. Pegula was the toughest challenge for Vondrousova as it was a three-set battle. After that, the 25-year-old was able to sweep both Svitolina and Jabeur to win the first and only Grand Slam of her career.

2024 Women’s Wimbledon Favorites

The following tennis players are considered the odds-on favorites to win the Women’s Wimbledon Tournament:

Iga Swiatek +285        

Iga Swiatek is the top ranked player on the WTA Tour. And, it’s not even close. She has nearly a 4,000-point lead over Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka. She’s pretty much been the #1 ranked women’s player for the last two years and there appears to be no end in sight.

On the year, Swiatek has won five tournaments and compiled a 45-4 record in matches. For her career, she has 22 singles titles including five Grand Slams.

So far this season, Swiatek has won at Qatar, Indian Wells, Madrid, Rome and Paris. However, she was bounced in the Round of 32 at the 2024 Australian Open. But Swiatek bounced back in the second Grand Slam of the year as she continued her French Open dominance with an impressive victory for the third straight year and fourth time of her career.

Unfortunately, Swiatek’s Wimbledon performances have not been as good as other Grand Slams during her career. In fact, she has a 69% win percentage at Wimbledon, which is her worst winning percentage of any Grand Slam. For comparison, she’s 74% at the Australian Open, 80% at the US Open, and 95% at the French Open.

Swiatek’s first appearance came in 2019 where she was bounced in the first round. 2020 was the covid year and no tournament was held. In 2021, she made it to the fourth round before bowing out. 2022 saw a third-round departure before she made it all the way to the Quarter Finals of 2023. Swiatek was defeated by Elina Svitolina in three sets including a second set tie breaker.

Despite her dominance of the WTA Tour, it’s hard to feel confident in Swiatek due to a 9-4 record at Wimbledon and a Quarter Finals appearance being the furthest she’s ever advanced.

Aryna Sabalenka +325

Compared to Swiatek, the current third-ranked Aryna Sabalenka has had more success over the last few years at Wimbledon than the top ranked star. With that said, Sabalenka only has one tournament title in 2024. The 26-year-old took the first Grand Slam of the year when she beat Qinwen Zheng to win the Australian Open. It was the second straight Australian Open title for the Belarusian.

Sabalenka has made three other Finals this year, but lost two of those appearances to Swiatek. The first came in May when she lost in three sets at the Madrid Open. The second came in Rome when she was flat-out dominated. The third Finals loss was to Elena Rybakina in the Brisbane International just prior to her Australian Open tournament title.

For her career, Sabalenka has three Grand Slam Finals appearances: two at the Australian Open and one last year at the US Open. However, she has seen a nice run of Semi Finals appearances as well. In 2023, Sabalenka made it to the Semi Finals of all four Grand Slams, winning the Australian Open and losing at the US Open.

At the 2023 Wimbledon, she lost to Ons Jabeur in the Semi Finals. It was a three-set thriller, which included a tie breaker in the first set. That was Sabalenka’s second consecutive Semi Finals appearance at Wimbledon. She also made it that far in the 2021 tournament. Sabalenka missed the 2022 Wimbledon.

Prior to 2020, she never made it past the second round. 2018 and 2019 saw first round exits. Sabalenka has an 11-5 record at Wimbledon with a 69% win percentage. It’s the lowest Grand Slam win percentage in her career. With that said, depending on the Draw, you have to like Sabalenka to make a deep run in this year’s Wimbledon tournament.

Elena Rybakina +450  

Elena Rybakina is currently ranked 4^th in the WTA Tour with three titles and a 34-6 singles record this season. Her first tournament title came at the Brisbane International when she defeated Sabalenka in straight sets. The second title came at Abu Dhabi in February.

She would go on to lose to Swiatek in the Finals of the Qatar Open before suffering a Finals defeat to Danielle Collins in the Miami Open in March. Finally, Rybakina was able to bounce back and pick up another tournament title win when she defeated Marta Kostyuk at the Porsche Grand Prix in April.

With a total of three titles and five tournament Finals appearances, Rybakina has put together a strong 2024 season so far. In Grand Slam play, she lost in the Quarter Finals of the French Open and the Round of 64 at the Australian Open.

The 25-year-old Kazakhstani has one Grand Slam title in her career and it came at the 2022 Wimbledon Tournament. She defeated Ons Jabeur for the championship. However, Jabeur got a measure of revenge when she bounced Rybakina in the Quarter Finals of the 2023 Wimbledon.

For her career, Rybakina is 14-2 at Wimbledon. It’s by far her best winning percentage (88%) at any Grand Slam Tournament. With the way she’s playing this year, Rybakina offers better value than Swiatek or Sabalenka. The Draw will definitely tell us how realistic of a chance she has at winning this Grand Slam for a second time in the last three years.

Coco Gauff +900

As of this writing, Coco Gauff is the #2 ranked player on the WTA Tour. For the season, she’s captured one tournament title and has gone 30-9 in singles action. Goff won the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, a few weeks prior to the Australian Open.

The 20-year-old American star has two Semi Finals appearances in Grand Slam action this year so far. Ironically, she lost to the two betting favorites in those appearances. Sabalenka defeated her at the Australian Open and Swiatek beat her at the French Open.

For her career, Goff has one Grand Slam title and it came at the 2023 US Open. She has four straight Quarter Finals appearances or further at the French Open. The Semi Finals showing at the Australian Open this year is her best performance to date. Unfortunately, Goff has been dreadful at Wimbledon in her young career.

In four appearances, Goff has never made it past the fourth round. She was bounced in the first round last year and has an 8-4 singles record in Wimbledon match play. Her 67% win percentage at Wimbledon is by far the lowest winning percentage for all four Grand Slams.

I recommend avoiding Goff at Wimbledon this year. Even at +900 odds, there’s no value especially considering how poor she played in this Grand Slam last year.

2024 Women’s Wimbledon Betting Value

The following tennis players are my picks for the best betting value heading into Wimbledon based on their current season stats and previous Wimbledon success:

Ons Jabeur +1400

The almost 30-year-old, Ons Jabeur, is ranked 10^th in the WTA Tour but has had a poor 2024 season so far. Currently, Jabeur has zero titles and a 12-11 record on the year. This is concerning for the Tunisian star heading into Wimbledon.

Jabeur’s best results on the season were Quarter Finals losses at the Madrid Open against Madison Keys and the French Open against Gauff. In the 2024 Australian Open, Jabeur was bounced in the Round of 64 for the second consecutive year.

Despite her awful season so far, there’s something about Wimbledon that brings out the best in Jabeur. For her career, she’s gone 17-6 in six appearances at the All England Club. Furthermore, she’s made the Finals of the last two Wimbledon Grand Slams and was in the Quarter Finals in 2021.

Jabeur had an impressive run last year as she took down Rybakina and Sabalenka before losing in the Wimbledon Finals. Considering Gauff is +900 and has never made it past the fourth round, Jabeur offers better value and could be a sleeper for this year’s tournament depending on the Draw.

Marketa Vondrousova +1600

The reigning Wimbledon champion is ranked 6^th in the WTA Tour. Like her Finals’ opponent from last year (Jabeur), Vondrousova has yet to win a tournament in 2024. She also has a 15-9 singles record. Her best result for the season came at the Porsche Grand Prix when she lost to Marta Kostyuk in the Semi Finals.

In Grand Slam action this season, Vondrousova was bounced in the first round of the Australian Open, but made it to the Quarter Finals of the French Open before losing to the dominant Swiatek. She’s 4-2 in Grand Slam match play so far.

With that said, Vondrousova showed a strong grass-court play last year at Wimbledon that could be a sign of things to come. She turns 25-years-old this month and could be a solid wager for this year’s tournament. There’s value on the reigning champ. However, make it a small wager if you do bet on her.

2024 Women’s Wimbledon Longshot

Jelena Ostapenko (+3000) is my choice for the top longshot to win the Women’s Wimbledon. As of May, she’s gone 4-0 against Swiatek in head-to-head action for their careers including a 2023 US Open victory. The 13^th ranked WTA star is the only lady with an undefeated record against Swiatek.

Ostapenko has two title wins on the year, both coming by early-February with a victory in Linz, Austria, and Adelaide, Australia. She’s also posted a 23-10 record in singles action this year.

Ostapenko doesn’t have the best track record at Wimbledon as she’s gone 16-8 in her career at the All England Club. In fact, she’s been bounced by the fourth round in her last four appearances. Ostapenko does have a Semi Final (2018) and Quarter Final appearance (2017) though.

When getting to the longshot selection, it’s a luxury to pick someone with a Grand Slam win like Ostapenko. She won the 2017 French Open. When you combine her 10-year Grand Slam tournament experience with a winning record against Swiatek, it warrants a small flier for those tennis bettors that like to wager on the longshots.  

2024 Wimbledon Women’s Predictions

As you can see above, the Women’s Wimbledon field is wide open despite what the sports betting sites say. Swiatek is clearly the best player on the WTA Tour, but she has yet to play up to her potential on the grass of Wimbledon.

Going down the list of contenders, like Gauff, Sabalenka and Rybakina, all of them have some downsides to their grass-court play. So, you have two options on how to approach your Women’s Wimbledon bets.

First option is to take the best player in Swiatek and wager on her playing to the elite level we’re accustomed to seeing. The second option, is to find value on another contender like Rybakina. She’s coming off subpar conditioning, but has had a strong season to date.

I’m playing it safe with this versatile field and hoping that Swiatek finally overcomes her previous grass-court limitations to win the first Wimbledon title of her career. The payoff of +285 isn’t as appealing as Rybakina’s +450 but I rather minimize my risk on this tournament, especially since there are no dominant grass players like Serena Williams in her day.

Previous Women’s Tennis Wimbledon Winners

Martina Navratilova still holds the record for the most women’s Wimbledon trophies with nine. Helen Wills Moody is second all-time with eight. Serena Williams was the closest to threatening Navratilova’s all-time mark, but she finished with seven. The following is a list of the most recent Wimbledon women’s winners:
