2024 Heisman Trophy Odds and Predictions

The 2024 Heisman Trophy odds favor Carson Beck to win this year. That isn’t a reach, seeing as the latest odds to win the 2024-25 College Football Championship also favor his Georgia Bulldogs.

The two don’t have to align. Jayden Daniels was the obvious call to win this award last year, and his LSU Tigers didn’t even reach the title game. Of course, putting up mind-boggling numbers and winning a bunch of games certainly can go hand in hand.

But betting on who will win the Heisman Trophy award is about one thing; predicting which college football player will have the most jaw-dropping statistical season.

It needs to be big. It needs to be impressive. And it doesn’t hurt if you do it while your team is winning. So, which 2024-25 Heisman Trophy odds candidates are worth your hard-earned cash? Let’s find out as I peruse the latest odds and come away with my top prediction.

As mentioned, Georgia’s Beck is the odds on favorite to win the Heisman this year, per sportsbooks like BetOnline. He didn’t go crazy statistically last year, however, so it may pay to look for value this year.

Here are the other main 2024 Heisman candidates and their respective odds.

There are more CFB odds for this market, but I’m only listing the 20 players with the best prices. It’s fairly likely those are your best bets if you plan on betting on who will win the Heisman in 2024, after all.

Dark horse candidates can emerge in any college football betting market, but I’d be fairly surprised if you aren’t looking at this year’s Heisman in the above list.

You have some big names to work with here, but the most interesting thing is how much value you’re getting. Beck is a very viable favorite, and yet his +850 price tag is extremely inviting. Quin Ewers is also the only other player with odds below +1100, so it doesn’t take long to access some appealing value.

So, is this Beck’s award to lose? Let’s take a look at his case (or why you shouldn’t back him), as well as what other Heisman hopefuls are worth backing in 2024.

Why is Carson Beck the 2024 Heisman Trophy odds Favorite?

Beck stands out as a viable Heisman threat – and the current betting favorite – because he’s manning one of the nation’s most talented offenses. Georgia also pulls into the 2024-24 NCAAF season as the tentative favorites to win this year’s title.

His personal talent and the likely success his team should enjoy gives him a shot, while Beck was already putting up solid numbers last year. It was his first full year running the show, and yet Beck put up 24 touchdowns and almost 4,000 yards through the air.

He also made plays like these seem routine.

Beck’s numbers were very solid, and it led to team success, too. The Bulldogs ranked 5th in total offense and 5th in points per game. They were a handful offensively, and after having such a solid first year as the man in Georgia, it’s logical to hope for an even better 2024 campaign.

The one potential issue? Georgia loses a lot of firepower this year. Stud tight end Brock Bowers is gone, while Georgia also lost explosive wide receiver Ladd McConkey and two of their top running backs.

Beck is on his own for the moment. He has the talent to get the job done and we know what Georgia’s offensive system can produce, but he’ll be going to work with relative unknowns.

Can Beck make the same magic – if not far more – with guys we don’t yet know we can trust? Just as important; even if Beck has similar success like he did in 2023, will it be enough?

Top 2024 Heisman Trophy Contenders

A huge reason I like betting on anyone not named Carson Beck for this award is the fact that there is a ton of offensive upside littered across college football.

So many quality quarterbacks appear poised to explode, and it’s arguable Beck just doesn’t have the situation to allow him to put up the insane season required to claim this trophy.

Beck is absolutely in consideration, but there are two viable Heisman contenders that stand out a bit more to me – and come in at more inviting prices.

Dillon Gabriel +1100

I don’t mean to completely side-step Quinn Ewers. He’s a very good quarterback and he could very well go off this year. Unfortunately, he’s losing a bunch of his top weapons, and Gabriel is a bit more enticing with slightly better Heisman betting odds.

You can bet on Ewers if you’d like, but I prefer Gabriel. He’s obviously going through a bit of a transition, as he’s now with his third CFB team in six years. However, he has absolutely smashed each time out, and he’s poised to potentially put up his best season yet with the Ducks.

Seriously, look at his production.

  • 2023 – 3,660 passing yards, 30 TDs
  • 2022 – 3,168 passing yards, 25 TDs
  • 2020 – 3,570 passing yards, 32 TDs
  • 2019 – 3,653 passing yards, 29 TDs

Gabriel isn’t very big, but he is a pure passer that can even add value with his legs. We’ve seen some amazing years out of him, but last season was his most complete effort, as he compiled over 4,000 total yards and 42 total touchdowns.

Now Gabriel is in Oregon, where he takes over a system that featured Bo Nix and a high-flying Ducks offense that ranked second in the nation (45.5) in points per game.

It’s not too likely this offense dips with a steady hand under center, either.

If we’re looking at past production, skill set, system, and upside, nobody offers a better package than Dillon Gabriel. Once you factor in his Heisman odds, forget about it.

Jalen Milroe +1400

I could list more than two 2024 Heisman contenders, but I really just want to nudge bettors to the best overall options, rather than gawk over every single player I like.

Believe me, there’s a lot of them. However, when betting on the Heisman, you probably want to focus on a quarterback, ideally they can offer rushing production, and it helps if they can win while dropping sick numbers.

Milroe should offer that package. He should continue winning at Alabama even with Nick Saban retired, and there’s simply no denying the talent and upside he possesses.

The guy was a human highlight reel last year, as he averaged a disturbing 10 yards per attempt en route to 2,834 passing yards and 23 scores through the air. He also dazzled on the ground, adding 531 more yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.

Last year truly felt like the tip of the iceberg. Sure, it’s always possible Milroe will shrink under added pressure or that the Crimson Tide will crumble without their fearless leader.

However, I choose to bet on talent, and Milroe is a dual threat ace in the hole for Heisman bettors.

Best 2024 Heisman Trophy Odds Value Bet

There are several 2024 Heisman sleepers you should consider. I don’t hate Cameron Rising for Utah, and I also think Drew Allar (Penn State) and Will Rogers (Mississippi State) are viable value bets to consider.

If you want to go against the grain and bet on a stud running back or explosive wide receiver, we can entertain Donovan Edwards (Michigan) or Luther Burden III (Missouri), too.

However, my favorite Heisman value bet is undeniably Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.

The guy was a dynamo as he helped elevate the Buffaloes early in the year, and his final numbers (27 touchdowns to just three picks) suggested another big leap could be coming.

Sanders is a big-time player with aspirations of going #1 overall in next year’s draft, while his dad Deion has his sights on taking Colorado up another notch or two. I’m not a big believer in Colorado as a whole, but I do think Sanders could put up some amazing numbers.

This is a guy who dropped 40 scores as Jackson State in 2022, and is capable of doing something similar again in 2024. He’d have to get serious consideration, but given his talent, past production, and the way his squad has trended, I don’t hate his chances.

2024 Heisman Trophy Winner Prediction

The 2024 Heisman Trophy odds favor a bunch of quarterbacks because that’s pretty much what history tells us. Much like the NFL MVP has become a quarterback award, the Heisman typically goes to the nation’s most prolific passer.

Usually the quarterback who wins either leads his team to high-level success, or has a truly amazing season throwing the ball. If they can add some crazy rushing stats, their chances of winning only get better.

Of the last 10 Heisman winners, 80% were quarterbacks. That doesn’t exactly guarantee you should bet on a passer this year, but it’s worth noting. The majority of Heisman winners resided on winning teams and were in the national spotlight – either in contention for a title or actually winning one.

If a non-QB is going to win, they need a truly amazing season. Derrick Henry needed 2,219 rushing yards to be the lone running back Heisman winner in the last decade. Teammate DeVonta Smith (2020) needed 1,856 receiving yards and a disgusting 24 total touchdowns to get his nod.

Those are the only dudes since 2014 to claim this award as non-quarterback winners.

So, in totally unrelated news, I’ll be betting on a quarterback to win the 2024 Heisman. And I’m going to aim a bit higher than the top two favorites and go with Dillon Gabriel.

The guy may have his question marks for the NFL level, but he has been absurdly productive for what feels like forever in college. He’s going to produce (and win) at Oregon, and there’s a very good chance he generates his best CFB season yet.

Considering how good he’s been, that truly might be saying something.

Bet: Dillon Gabriel +1100
