Needless to say, it doesn’t feel great betting on anyone but Scottie Scheffler these days. The Texan can seemingly do no wrong, though I do think his decision to take the last month off could backfire. Scheffler is also a player without a track record of success at links courses, so Royal Troon could prove more challenging.

I just don’t think betting on favorites is any fun, even at still-advantageous +500 odds. In my opinion, the best combination of value and upside is Xander Schauffele at +1200. I can’t get past his remarkable consistency, and his ability to make cuts will keep him in contention each and every week. I see no reason to think his aforementioned streak will come to an end in Scotland this week.
