This challenging competition – featuring a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run – brings together the world’s elite female triathletes in a test of endurance, speed, and sheer will.

The women’s individual triathlon will go down one day after the men’s Olympic triathlon on July 31st. If you are looking to bet on the Olympics, keep reading as I take a deeper dive into the primary contenders, their odds of winning, and the key factors that could influence the outcome

Women’s Triathlon OddsWomen’s Triathlon Odds
Beth Potter (Great Britain) +160Cassandre Beaugrand (France) +188
Emma Lombardi (France) +650Flora Duffy (Bermuda) +600
Taylor Knibb (United States) +1000Georgia Taylor-Brown (Great Britain) +1400

Beth Potter +160

Beth Potter is the favorite for the women’s triathlon with odds of +160. Her strong running ability and recent successes make her a top contender. Potter’s experience and tactical acumen will be vital in navigating the challenging Paris course.

England failed to bring it home at the 2024 Euros, but can they do the double in the individual triathlon at the Olympics? With Yee favored on the men’s side, there’s certainly some hope here.

Potter made her Olympic debut at the 2016 Games in Rio, but not in triathlon. Potter qualified for the women’s 10,000-meter run, where she finished 34th. She started her triathlon career the following January.

She didn’t qualify for Tokyo 2020, so this will be her Olympic triathlon debut. She beat fellow contenders Cassandre Beaugrand and Laura Lindemann in the Olympic Games Test Event last August, so she’s had success against top competition in recent months.

Cassandre Beaugrand +188

Cassandre Beaugrand is close behind with odds of +188. Beaugrand’s prowess in the swim and run segments makes her a formidable competitor. Racing on home soil could provide her with the extra motivation needed to secure victory.

Beaugrand took home a bronze medal in the mixed relay event in Tokyo a few years ago. She’s been racing since she was a child, and she has an impressive résumé heading into these Games at the age of 27.

She didn’t fare well in her Olympic debut in this event, however. Beaugrand failed to finish the individual race in Tokyo and withdrew after less than 20 minutes. However, oddsmakers are quite confident that she’ll improve upon that showing this time around, as she’s essentially a co-favorite with Potter per the early betting odds.

Emma Lombardi +650

Emma Lombardi, at +650, is another strong French contender. Lombardi’s all-around capabilities and consistency make her a capable threat.

Lombardi won the French junior triathlon championships in 2019. 3 years later, she took home the gold at the U-23 Triathlon World Championships in Edmonton. Later that year, she won gold in the mixed relay at the Europe Triathlon Championships in Germany. She took home the bronze in the individual race, as well.

At 22, she’s one of the youngest frontrunners in the field. This will be her maiden voyage on the Olympic stage, so we’ll see how she deals with the pressure of performing at the highest level of competition.

Flora Duffy +600

Flora Duffy – who has one of the best names of any Olympian – checks in with odds of +600. Duffy brings a wealth of experience and success to the competition. The Bermudan athlete has a proven track record in major triathlons and will be aiming to add another Olympic medal to her collection.

Duffy checks in as the reigning champion after taking home the gold at the 2020 games in Japan. She’s also won gold medals at the ITU Triathlon World Championships in 2016, 2017, 2021, and 2022 in addition to a silver in 2020. Not too shabby, eh?

She’s the only athlete to ever win 3 triathlon world titles in the same year. That was in 2016 when she won the Xterra, ITU Cross Triathlon, and WTS titles. She’s also the only WTS competitor to ever post the fastest swim, bike, and race times in the same race.

She’s one of the older athletes in the women’s field at 36, however, so oddsmakers are somewhat skeptical of her chances of repeating as the individual triathlon gold medalist. She finished 8th at this event back in 2016 in Rio, as well.

Taylor Knibb +1000

Taylor Knibb is a promising young talent with odds of +1000. Knibb’s strong biking ability sets her apart from many competitors. If she can maintain her form in the swim and run segments, she could be a serious contender in Paris.

Knibb, an American, took home a silver in the 2020 games in the mixed relay. She was the Women’s Ironman 70.3 World Champion in both 2022 and 2023, and she’s been participating in triathlons since she was just 11 years old. Knibb finished 16th in the individual triathlon in her Olympic debut in Tokyo 3 years ago.

Georgia Taylor-Brown +1400

Georgia Taylor-Brown, with odds of +1400, completes the top six. The British athlete has a balanced skill set and a history of strong performances in international competitions.

Taylor-Brown finished second behind Duffy for the silver medal in the individual triathlon back at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She was a part of the team that took home the gold in the mixed relay that year, as well.

Taylor-Brown won a gold at the 2020 World Triathlon Championships. She took silver in that same event 2 years later, while she previously won the bronze in 2018 and 2019.

Paris Olympics Women’s Triathlon Predictions

There’s no clear frontrunner on the women’s side with Potter and Beaugrand essentially entering the competition as co-favorites. While both are perfectly viable bets, I’d prefer to hunt for a little value on the women’s side. We are taking the betting favorite to win the men’s competition, remember?

I do love the value on Duffy at +600 given her incredible career in this sport, though I do have some questions about her chances now that she’s 36. The better betting value here is Taylor-Brown, who’s just 30 entering the 2024 Games. She came close by settling for silver in Tokyo, and I think she’s primed to make another run at the gold this summer.

Bet: Georgia Taylor-Brown (+1400)
