In years past, Week 14 of the College Football season has been referred to as Rivalry Week. And, though there are some big rivalry games this week, it feels like the College Football schedule makers have done a great job at spreading out rivalries throughout the season, where they might really have an impact.

With that said, this is the final week of the regular season for 99% of the teams. Week 15 is the Conference Championship games, so most teams won’t be playing. Additionally, College Football will compete against the NFL over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend with games on Thursday and Friday, which the NFL is scheduled for as well.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, Memphis and Tulane will be in the national spotlight when they battle for AAC Conference supremacy on Thursday night of Week 14.

In addition to that exciting matchup, we have some of the most notable rivalry games taking place on Saturday, November 30, with Auburn vs. Alabama, Florida vs. Florida State, Texas vs. Texas A&M, and Michigan vs. Ohio State highlighting the slate of games.

Best College Football Week 14 Games

As you can see above, we’ve identified the best College Football Week 14 games. Of those matchups, there are a few that really stand out as must-watch contests over the holiday weekend:

Memphis Tigers vs. Tulane Green Wave

This AAC Conference matchup could decide which team makes the championship game and which team is sitting at home watching on television. It could also be a preview of the AAC Title game. We won’t know until we get closer to November.

With that said, the Memphis Tigers hold the advantage in this series with a 24-15-1 record. From 2002 until 2017, the Tigers won 11 straight games over the Green Wave. However, Tulane has won four of the last six matchups including two in a row. And, the Green Wave has won three straight games against Memphis at home in Louisiana.

Although the NFL will get most of the Turkey Day attention, like the main course of a dinner, this AAC game is like having an apple pie in addition to the traditional pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving evening.

Auburn Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

These two in-state rivals first played against each other in 1893, and it’s Alabama who holds a 50-37-1 advantage in this bitter rivalry. Known as the Iron Bowl, the Crimson Tide have won eight of the last 10 matchups including four in a row.

It’s hard to predict where Alabama will be at this point of the season. They could be a one-loss or two-loss team by Week 14 as they do have some tough matchups like Georgia in Week 5, LSU in Week 11, and Oklahoma in Week 13

Auburn would love nothing more than to upset the Crimson Tide and knock them out of the SEC Title game. In fact, a second or third loss could even keep Alabama out of the College Football Playoffs.

Michigan Wolverines vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

The biggest rivalry of the Big Ten Conference, will take place in Week 14 and it’s certainly going to be an emotional affair for fans of both schools. Unfortunately, Ohio State is probably going to take out three years of frustrations on Michigan this weekend.

The Wolverines have won three straight meetings, which snapped Ohio State’s eight game winning streak. Sadly for the blue and maize fans, Michigan is in for a down year after winning the College Football Championship last season. Lots of changes for the Wolverines and that will be emphasized in this matchup.

The Buckeyes are favored to win the Big Ten and could be looking to solidify their spot in the Conference title game with a beatdown of their hated rivals. Michigan fans won’t have anything to be thankful for this holiday weekend.

Texas Longhorns vs. Texas A&M Aggies

Although these two schools are in-state rivals, the on-field product has not been much of a rivalry. The Texas Longhorns hold a 76-37-5 advantage in this series that dates back to 1894.

Texas has also won nine of the last 12 meetings between these two schools. Yet, it should be noted that this matchup is the first time they have played against each other since 2011.

Texas A&M is not expected to be a contender in the SEC this year. However, the Longhorns are one of the odds-on favorites to win the National Title. Realistically, Texas’ SEC Title game and CFP chances will come down to how they perform against Oklahoma in Week 6, and Georgia in Week 7

The Aggies could be fighting for their postseason lives. A loss in Week 14 might keep them out of a Bowl Game.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. USC Trojans

This is a really intriguing matchup for the Fighting Irish. The USC Trojans will be on the outside looking in at the College Football Playoffs. But they would want nothing more than to keep Notre Dame from the CFP as well.

Notre Dame has one tough game on their schedule and that’s against Florida State in Week 11. So, a one-loss squad could end up outside of the CFP if they lose to USC. In fact, they could miss out altogether even after losing to FSU due to their unimpressive schedule.

The Trojans are making their Big 10 Conference debut this year, but they’re not expected to make the Conference title game. In fact, they’re not expected to be a contender in the Big 10. We could end up seeing a three loss USC team by time Week 14 comes along. The Trojans play LSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, Washington and Nebraska this year.

Notre Dame is 49-37-5 in this series and have won nine of the last 13 matchups. However, USC is 3-1 in their last four games at home against the Fighting Irish.
