2024 NFL Week 9 Odds and Predictions

Trick or Treat, give me something good to eat. Yes, NFL fans, it’s that time of the year where the calendar changes to November and kids get their annual neighborhood sugar rush. The NFL schedule makers are giving us plenty of treats in Week 9 with a TNF game on Halloween and some fantastic matchups on Sunday, November 3.

However, the schedule makers have also thrown a few tricks in there as well. From Weeks 5 through 7, we had teams on a Bye. In Week 8, there were no Byes. Now, we’re back to having Byes again, as both the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers will be off.

Speaking of the Thursday Night Football game, we are definitely in for a treat as the New York Jets host the Houston Texans. This will be a clash of two teams near the top of their respective divisions and two teams trying to make the Playoffs.

In addition to that TNF game, we also have some intriguing matchups on Sunday like: Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks, and Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Philadelphia Eagles.

With that in mind, the full slate of NFL Week 9 Odds is not available as of yet. This means that there’s still plenty of time to examine our NFL betting analysis for information and predictions players, all 32 NFL teams, Divisions, Conferences, and the 2025 Super Bowl

Key NFL Week 9 Games

With Week 9 of the NFL season featuring most of the NFL teams, there are a few key Week 9 games that stand out from the rest:

Houston Texans vs. New York Jets

Week 9 starts off with a bang as the Houston Texans battle the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. Both teams are expected to contend for an AFC Playoff spot this year. And, it’s entirely possible that both teams will be leading their respective divisions by time this game takes place.

The Jets hold a 7-3 advantage in this series. They won the first four meetings, dropped the next three, and have won the last two head-to-head matchups. These teams played last year in New York, and the Jets won 30-6. New York is 4-2 in home games versus the Texans.

Can the Jets keep their home field advantage over the Texans or will Houston snap New York’s two-game winning streak?

Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons

This NFC matchup pits the Dallas Cowboys against the Atlanta Falcons in an important conference battle. The winner of this Week 9 game could capture an important NFC tiebreaker as both teams are expected to contend for an NFC Playoff spot.

These two teams have played against each other 30 times, and it’s the Cowboys leading the series with a 19-11 record. Additionally, Dallas has won the last three meetings. Atlanta is just 4-4 in their last eight home games versus the Cowboys.

Can Atlanta snap their losing skid to Dallas or will the Cowboys use the Falcons as a stepping stone to a higher seed in the Playoff race?

Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills

Unless they see each other in the Playoffs, this Week 9 matchup will be the final time that the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills play against each other in the regular season. Their first meeting of the year, takes place in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football.

The Dolphins own a slight advantage in this rivalry with a 62-58-1 record. However, the Bills have owned Miami since Josh Allen came into the league. Buffalo is 11-1 in their last 12 games against Miami, including winning four in a row. The Bills are 8-0 in their last eight home games against the Dolphins.

Will either team sweep this season series? Can the Dolphins snap their losing skid in Buffalo or will the Bills continue their dominant streak over this divisional foe?

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers

This NFC North battle could go a long way towards deciding who wins the division. The Detroit Lions are the reigning divisional champs, while the Green Bay Packers are looking to get their crown back.

These two teams have played against each other a whopping 189 times. The Packers hold the lead with a 106-76-7 record. The Lions had a four-game winning streak snapped by the Packers in November 2023. Prior to that streak, the Packers had won five in a row. And prior to that, Detroit had won four in a row. As you can see, these teams win in bunches. Will that trend continue?

The Packers are 4-4 in their last eight home games against the Lions. Detroit has won two in a row at Lambeau Field including last year’s 34-20 victory.

Can the Packers get revenge in front of their hometown fans or will the Lions pick up a third straight victory on the road in this rivalry?

Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks

Here we have another key divisional matchup in Week 9. This time, it features the NFC West as the Los Angeles Rams battle the Seattle Seahawks

These two rivals have played against each other 53 times. The Seahawks hold a very slim lead in the series with a 27-26 record. The Rams are 7-3 in the last 10 head-to-head meetings, including sweeping both matchups last year. Los Angeles is also 6-4 in their last 10 trips to Seattle.

Both teams are hoping to keep pace with the 49ers in the West. Additionally, both teams are fighting for one of the three NFC Wild Card spots. This Week 9 matchup will impact their chances for both. However, their Week 18 contest could be do or die for the loser’s Playoff hopes.

Can the Rams keep their recent success going against the Seahawks or will Seattle snap their two-game skid against Los Angeles?

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Philadelphia Eagles

This Week 9 matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles has a few wrinkles that could make it one of the more compelling games of the week.

Jacksonville’s head coach is Doug Pederson, the former head coach of the Eagles. He helped guide the Eagles to a Super Bowl 52 win as Philly’s head coach. Additionally, Pederson didn’t leave on good terms with the franchise. Yet, he’s led the Jaguars to two consecutive winning seasons, which is the first time that the team has done that in 20 years.

These two teams have played against each other just seven times. The Eagles hold the slight advantage with a 4-3 record. It’s interesting to note, Pederson took the Jags to Philly in 2022, his first season as the Jacksonville head coach, but lost 29-22. The Eagles have won four in a row at Jacksonville including a 2018 victory that Pederson coached.

Can the Jaguars help Pederson get some satisfaction in Philly or will the Eagles extend their winning streak to five games against Jacksonville?
