Gladiator 2 is one of the most highly anticipated sequels in modern cinema. The first movie, which came out in 2000, was a masterpiece with a fantastic cast and storyline. The expectations are high for Gladiator 2, especially with some of the talent that will be starring in this film like Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal.

Gladiator 2 Release Date

Wondering when Gladiator 2 comes out? I am sure fans of the original Ridley Scott film want to make plans to see the sequel, but it also helps bettors to know how long they’ve got to place their bets.

You’re in luck, as Gladiator 2 premieres on November 22nd.

That’s still quite a bit of time to allow the hype to build, while you can also hammer in your Gladiator 2 predictions a bit better before then, too.

Gladiator 2 Cast

The Gladiator 2 cast is a hot topic as well, and the producers did not disappoint. Here’s a quick look at the top billed cast and the role they’re going to play in the second Gladiator movie.

You should remember much of the Gladiator 2 cast from previous high-profile projects. Quinn is a rising star and while his hair isn’t as long as it was when he played fan favorite Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, his quality acting is visible immediately as the demented Emperor Geta.

The likes of Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington need no introduction. They’re the heavy-hitter superstar actors that are carrying this thing. Needless to say, if you weren’t already excited to see the new Gladiator movie, fans of these two elite actors should be looking to buy a ticket.

Paul Mescal is a bit of an unknown compared to Pascal and Denzel, but he’s another rising star and will play the lead role of Lucius. The nephew of the hated Commodus offers a compelling character for Mescal, who has already displayed his elite acting chops in The Lost Daughter and a few other flicks.

Personally, as a fan of Game of Thrones, I can’t wait to catch the cameo of Rory McCann, who is best known for playing The Hound. Overall, the Gladiator 2 cast is magnificent and is just one reason why watching this movie – and betting on it – is so appealing.

First Animal to Be Shown in Gladiator 2

Animals to be shown in movies in general isn’t a new prop, but betting on what animal will be seen first isn’t very common. Why does this matter? Probably because dangerous beasts were often featured in gladiator games.

So, which animal is likely to be featured first? Well, a horse makes a lot of sense as the top betting favorite. This film is centered around soldiers and if they’re going into battle in any of the scenes, they’d probably be riding a horse.

It’s a logical bet, and probably the safest. However, this movie will once again center around the lead character and life as a gladiator. As in, a slave fighting for his life in the coliseum, where brutal animals are often waiting for him.

That certainly was the case in the first Gladiator, where Maximus had to fight off a powerful human, but also had to worry about a vicious tiger.

Naturally, a tiger is on the table here. Weirdly enough, it has staggering +800 odds. Of course, in an effort to be different from the original, perhaps Ridley Scott would avoid a similar scene to the iconic showdown above.

Historically speaking, the animals that gladiators most often fought were lions, bears, and elephants. Naturally, an elephant comes in at +250 with the second best odds, a lion is at +320, and a bear is at +380.

Those are the most likely plays following a horse, but it’s impossible to know for sure which animal will be featured first. Just as important, we don’t know how Gladiator 2 will start, and if it’s not in the coliseum right away, anything other than a horse could be a very risky bet.

That, and based on the Gladiator 2 trailer, which shows a lot of battles in the water, it’s not crazy to think we don’t see many horses at all.

You do see a rhino in the Gladiator 2 trailer, but you can’t bet on that. I like the value offered with some of the other bets, but I keep coming back to the horse. One big reason is because it’s a popular mode of transportation in general, and it can be utilized in battle.

Denzel Washington’s character is also seen riding a white horse in the trailer, too. The -200 odds aren’t too crazy, so it might make sense to pounce on them now before they balloon.

How Many Deaths Will Occur in First 10 Minutes?

Here we come to the Gladiator 2 kill count odds. It’d be pretty entertaining to get a prop asking how many people will die in the movie, but this will have to do.

The Gladiator 2 trailer doesn’t really help us out here, but we know two things for sure; there is at least one major battle going on at some point, and then there’s the actual gladiator fights in the coliseum.

Could Gladiator 2 offer a slow play where not a whole lot happens to get the ball rolling? Sure, and it’s entirely possible Ridley Scott and co. kick things off by honoring Russell Crowe and the original film.

But that would also be a bit tacky, and it would be weird for an openly violent story to showcase little death within the first 10 minutes. Due to that, I don’t think I’d go crazy here, but betting on zero deaths in the opening segment of Gladiator 2 feels like a huge mistake.

Luckily, logic prevails in the form of extra betting value, as you can get +180 odds for 1-0 kills, and +200 odds for 11+ deaths. I am going to aim high here and go for 11+ deaths.

If we get a war sequence early on, this will be an easy mark to top. You get 10 minutes of screen time, though, so you might as well aim high.

Number of Times Empire, Power, Rome, and War Are Said

This is actually four separate Gladiator 2 prop bets, so feel free to break this up as you wish. I don’t know how predictable any of these are, but it’s worth noting that each of these terms should be featured prominently in the sequel, at least in spirit.

We’re talking about the Roman Empire, and it’s apparently something all men think about at least once a day. I don’t actually do so personally – nor do I believe the fad – but it’s worth noting.

Naturally, in a film dealing with the Roman Empire, I fully expect this term to be said quite a bit in a movie that has a running time of two full hours.

There is a power struggle and the setting is in Rome, while there are literal war scenes in the Gladiator 2 trailer. Some of these prop lines are getting a bit high, and there’s not much to base a prediction on, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see some of these hit.

Of the lot, though, I can only bring myself to vouch for “empire” being said seven or more times. The movie does run two hours, so whether the actors discuss the Roman Empire specifically or empires in general, I think that one has a good shot.

Second would be “war” being said nine or more times, but the entire movie isn’t about war – it’s just part of it.

How Much Money Will Gladiator 2 Make in its First Weekend?

You can bet on what will happen in Gladiator 2 to a certain degree, or you can bet on the film itself and how much success it will have.

Gladiator 2 has been met with surprising optimism, and the franchise has come a long way since earning almost $35 million on its opening weekend.

For context, that opening weekend doesn’t even rank inside the top 200, all time. Inflation is a heck of a drug, I reckon, while there have simply been more popular movies – and ones that were marketed better.

The movies are still kicking butts and taking names, though. Deadpool and Wolverine had the sixth best opening weekend ever ($211 million), after all. To be fair, that was a highly anticipated installment in the MCU, but it just goes to show that theaters can still make a ton of cash in a short amount of time.

So, where does Gladiator 2 fit in? It’s honestly tough to say. The Russell Crowe epic caught steam outside of the theaters, and it was eventually honored at the Oscars, winning Crowe a Best Actor nod, while the film took home Best Picture as well.

Fast forward 24 years, and there is a lot of hype surrounding this sequel. No Crowe limits the upside, but the cast, featuring Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal, is enough to lure in new viewers. Combine that with the original die hard fans, and I think the Over is in play.

There have been 76 movies in history to make over $100 million during their opening weekend. Of the lot, 48 of them topped the specific mark you can bet on. One of them was the sequel to Top Gun, and another was the sequel to Avatar.

People love nostalgia and they like what they know. They also can’t say no to a renowned director who has a penchant for telling a good story at a very high level. I think we’re in for the Over here.

Is Russell Crowe in Gladiator 2?

While the cast of Gladiator 2 looks stellar, the big question on everyone’s mind is if Russell Crowe will show up. It’s not something you can bet on at the moment, but at sites offering Gladiator 2 betting odds, I’d be shocked if you couldn’t eventually.

Regardless, moviegoers in general will wonder if Crowe will make an appearance. If he does, it would only be in a series of brief flashbacks.

The Gladiator 2 story takes place years after Crowe’s beloved character has passed, and word on the street is he wasn’t even approached to reprise his role.

It’s still possible Crowe and Scott kept things on the hush for a surprise for die hard fans, but there’s just no way he is going to play a big role. All things told, it’s quite likely Crowe is only on the big screen again for a very short time, or not at all.

Betting on What Will Happen in Gladiator 2

I will admit that I questioned how Gladiator 2 could exist. What is this franchise, if Russell Crowe isn’t involved? 

Fortunately, Ridley Scott has pieced together a pretty good story, and the cast is also sublime. This film will follow Lucius Verus, who is the nephew of the now deceased Roman Emperor, Commodus.

With his home conquered by new leaders of Rome, he’s forced to work his way through the Colosseum to find a way forward. It’s impossible to replicate the intensity of the first movie, but the actual story is quite similar.

That alone should make Gladiator 2 engaging enough, but the presence of Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal will take it over the top. Ultimately, I have confidence in the star power and hype surrounding this sequel, which puts the onus on the box office bet.

The other wagers are pretty subjective as far as how you approach them and how likely they are to it, but history is a good indicator of the future. Gladiator 2 should garner far more interest than the movie did 24 years ago, and if recent success of sequels tells us anything, it should make over $125 million with little effort.
