US Open Tennis Men’s Odds and Predictions

Last Updated on

The next big tennis grand slam has arrived, as the best players in the world will hit the court to try to win the 2024 US Open.

Naturally, the top online sports betting sites have US open odds up for bettors to peruse, and you’re running out of time to place your bets. You’ll also be able to bet on the women’s US Open odds, but this page will focus on the men’s side.

Novak Djokovic is back to defend his 2023 title, but he’s surprisingly not the top betting favorite at a lot of sportsbooks. I’ll dive into the odds to reveal the current odds on favorite to win the 2024 US Open for men’s tennis, and explore other bets you may want to consider.

The US Open betting odds may be a bit different depending on where you plan to bet on this year’s grand slam. However, the order of the tennis stars is probably going to look similar to what you see above.

Carlos Aclaraz is the consensus favorite, and the great Novak Djokovic will usually rank somewhere in the top three. I wouldn’t be too shocked if you found a site listing him as the odds on favorite, either.

You’re getting plus money for everyone listed here, but some tennis players offer a bit more value than others. It’s more important to be right than to just target value for the sake of doing so, of course.

With that, let’s explore why Alcaraz is favored to win the 2024 US Open, and also gauge what other contenders are in play this year.

Why is Carlos Alcaraz Favored to Win the 2024 US Open?

The 21-year old Spaniard is the consensus favorite to win the US Open. That should shock nobody who has been paying attention to men’s tennis, as he’s been dominant since bursting onto the scene as a 16-year old in 2020.

His amazing run reached new heights in 2022, when he won this very event.

Since then, he’s built up a pretty impressive resume that includes grand slam wins at the French Open (2024) and Wimbledon (twice).

The fact that he’s won here before and is in impeccable form is enough to catch the eye of bettors and bookies alike. However, he’s also fared well against the stiffest of competition.

Most notably, he’s 3-4 against the great Djokovic, so if they ultimately run into each other in the finale, you’d have to agree he still has a shot.

Alcaraz’s only real knock is his youth, but at this point, he’s actually quite battle tested and you can no longer say he lacks experience. It does feel odd not automatically labeling Djokovic the betting favorite, but this is the new era of tennis we’re dealing with.

Win or lose, Alcaraz makes sense as the US open favorite and there’s a very good chance he lives up to the billing.

Top 2024 US Open Contenders for Men’s Tennis

While Carlos Alcaraz is a logical favorite and someone you should consider betting on, he’s far from the only viable option.

Here are three more legit contenders to win the 2024 US Open that I’m high on.

Jannik Sinner +250

I don’t know if I’d assign Jannik Sinner the second best US Open odds, but he’s still certainly among the top contenders.

The 23-year old Italian is the #1 ranked tennis player in the world and could be building momentum toward his first US Open win.

He has gone as far as the quarter-finals here already, and he also notched a grand slam win by taking down this year’s Australian Open.

Sinner has held his own against some of the best players in the world. Most notably, he bested Alcaraz at the 2023 China Open, while he had to take care of Njokovic in his only grand slam victory.

Is he the most accomplished player on the circuit? In terms of grand slams, not yet. However, he has strong US Open betting odds due to his elite talent, growing experience, and clear ability to go toe-to-toe with the best tennis players in the world.

Novak Djokovic +280

Sinner’s price is nice, but Novak’s is better. Djokovic may be out for blood if these two wage war at the US Open, too, as Sinner obviously out-played him earlier this year.

This has been a kind tourney to Djokovic, as he won it all in 2023 and has racked up four wins overall throughout his career.

Time may not be on the 37-year old’s side, but everyone knows he’s still the tennis star everyone compares themselves to. He’s nabbed at least three titles at all four grand slam events, but he should be chomping at the bit to add to his collection this year.

Despite his talent level and history in the game, Novak has not found much success in the grand slams in 2024. Regardless, he could be rounding into form after claiming gold at the 2024 Summer Games.

It’s worth wondering if we get a rematch between Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, as it’d be must-see TV.

The classic young vs. old battle would be a ratings hit, especially since Novak lost the Wimbledon title to Alcaraz, and that would have extended his record to eight straight wins.

Djokovic did get some revenge against Alcaraz at the Paris Olympics, but something tells me he may not be done with his payback just yet.

Daniil Medvedev +1200

The US Open odds spike after the three aforementioned tennis stars. That could mean we shouldn’t waste our time outside of the top three, or it just means we’re in for some amazing betting value.

That brings me to Medvedev, who scored a US Open title three years ago and nearly got another last year in a tense showdown with Novak Djokovic.

It’s worth wondering if the US Open is Medvedev’s favorite stage, as this is the only place he’s won a grand slam title. The Australian Open is also the only other grand slam where he’s even made it to the final match.

Regardless, we know Medvedev can get wins. He’s played very well here, and outside of his lone grand slam championship he does have 20 other tournament wins under his belt.

The 28-year old has plenty of experience, and more than a few times he’s shown he can play with the best tennis has to offer.

Best Value Bet to Win the US Open in 2024

As is the case with most tennis betting markets, sticking with the top contenders is probably a good idea. However, these tournaments can often be thrown on their side, so at least looking out for viable value is a good idea.

The demand for turning over every stone takes me to my favorite value bet; Casper Ruud.

You’re getting ridiculous value for a guy that is fully capable of winning this thing. He gave Alcaraz quite the scare in this very event in the finale in 2022, after all.

Ruud holds a career 66% winning percentage, and while he’s yet to win a grand slam, he has three career grand slam final appearances and 10 titles, overall.

His underrated career resume includes the 2024 Geneva Open title, and a trip to the final at the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters. That tourney saw him take out Novak Djokovic, further displaying his ability to hang with the best of the best.

The 25-year old’s form remained solid at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as he reached the quarter-finals. He probably isn’t the first tennis player bettors are looking to, but he’s reached the final of the US Open before, and he gave this year’s favorite hell.

He’s also still chasing down that first ever grand slam title, so I wouldn’t rule him out, especially at a sweet +4800 price tag at some online sportsbooks.

2024 US Open Men’s Tennis Winner Prediction

There are several bets to consider when trying to come up with a 2024 US Open prediction, but all roads lead me back to Novak.

Djokovic is the defending champion and he’s still not favored to win. That does shine a light on Alcaraz (who won the year prior), but I trust in Novak’s talent.

That, and he’s won here four times since 2011. The US Open title has admittedly changed hands in 15 consecutive seasons. The last repeat champ was the great Roger Federer, and it’s time Novak flexes his muscle and reminds everyone who is boss.

I think he does that and the best part is he offers awesome value for willing bettors.

Bet: Novak Djokovic +280
