Domantas Sabonis has the best NBA odds for this betting market, so all conversations for this year’s rebound king start with him. He looks like a great bet, seeing as the price is nice and he snagged a league-leading 13.66 boards per game last year.

Of course, everyone has pretty inviting betting odds for this market, so I definitely think bettors should stretch their neck and consider all options.

Why is Domantas Sabonis Favored to Lead the NBA in Rebounds This Year?

Domantas Sabonis has been a rebounding demon for much of his NBA career. While with the Indiana Pacers, he averaged over 12 rebounds per game in each of his last three seasons with the team.

The second he started logging 30+ minutes regularly, he became an official problem on the glass. His minutes and role got even more consistent once he was traded to the Sacramento Kings. There, he racked up a career-high 13.7 rebounds per game, allowing him to secure back-to-back NBA rebounding crowns.

I wouldn’t say Sabonis is a guarantee to pace the league in rebounds again, but not having major competition for glass-cleaning on your own team doesn’t hurt. Naturally, when looking at Sacramento’s projected starting five, the next biggest guy is Keegan Murray, who averaged just 5.5 rebounds per game last year.

For comparison’s sake, Rudy Gobert had the most boards in 2021-22 with 14.67. He moved to the Minnesota Timberwolves and was paired with another big man in Karl-Anthony Towns, and his rebounds declined to just 11.6 and 12.9 the past two years.

Sabonis has no competition for rebounds on his own team and he’s one of the best players in terms of spacing, positioning, and anticipation. He does have competition for this stat, though.

Top 2024-25 NBA Rebounding Leader Contenders

Sabonis looks great and is obviously a solid bet at his +200 odds, but you might be able to tap into superior value with some worthwhile contenders.

Rudy Gobert +450

Gobert is easily the biggest threat to Sabonis this year. I mentioned how his rebounding average went down ever since changing teams, but the presence of KAT (8.3 rebounds per game last year) played into that.

Towns was traded to the New York Knicks this off-season, opening the door to Gobert feasting on the glass yet again for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Regardless of who he’s playing with, Gobert is always going to be a threat to lead the league in rebounds. Rebounding and blocking shots is what he does, which is precisely why he’s also a decent bet to lead the NBA in blocked shots.

Only helping Gobert is his team’s elite defense. 

The Minnesota Timberwolves don’t give up anything easy, as their top-ranked defense of a year ago (first in efficiency) would suggest. Naturally, that leads to a lot of misses from their opponents and plenty of rebounding chances for Gobert.

Anthony Davis +550

The Brow is another guy who racks up loads of rebounds on a regular basis. He’s all by himself down low on the Los Angeles Lakers, too, so the 12.6 rebound she snagged last year (3rd in the league) isn’t a number he should be free-falling from anytime soon.

In fact, Davis has constantly been a dog on the glass, with eight seasons with 10+ rebounds under his belt. He’s been at his best as the key rebounder with the Lake Show, though, where he’s posted career bests in consecutive years.

Davis has been a stalwart defender, too, with rebounding just one of the reasons he’s in the race to contend for the 2024-25 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

Nikola Jokic +550

Lastly, there’s also Denver Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic, who’s elite rebounding makes him a nightly triple-double threat.

Jokic had a shot at dominating this stat a few years ago when he averaged 13.8 rebounds per game, but he’s still been among the best rebounders in the league. He regressed to 11.8 rebounds per game in 2022-23, but saw a spike last year and finished 4th with 12.4 boards per game.

Denver depends on The Joker to clean the glass, so his ability and production in that regard won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. The Nuggets admittedly will be far more worried about making another run to the NBA Finals, but there’s nothing to say Jokic can’t nab a personal achievement or two along the way.

All things considered, we’ve seen his upside and consistency to the point where he may be the best value bet among the top contenders.

Best 2024-25 NBA Rebounding Leader Value Bet

The top NBA rebounders are pretty consistent. The odds are good the guy to snag the most rebounds is going to be a dude we’ve seen do it at a high level before.

However, guys break out in The Association all the time. There are other top contenders that haven’t led the league in rebounding that could. Wemby comes to mind, while Jalen Duren (11.6 rebounds per game) cracked the top 5 last year.

My favorite sleeper pick has to be Joel Embiid.

I know he’s a walking injury waiting to happen, but when healthy, Embiid is a double-double machine. Even with his checkered injury history, he’s still averaged a double-double in every season but his rookie year.

Embiid posted 11.0 rebounds per game last year across just 39 games, and he was not 100% for many of those. He enjoyed a career-best 13.6 rebounds per game back in 2018-19, too, so we know the ceiling is massive.

Opportunity is going to be there, too, as he’s easily the best rebounder the Philadelphia 76ers have to offer. Competition is an issue when looking at the other contenders to lead the league in rebounding, and Embiid also has to actually stay healthy.

None of that is a given, but at his +3300 odds, I think he’s a worthwhile swing for the fences that could actually deliver.

2024-25 NBA Rebounds Leader Predictions

Sometimes you just need to know when something is obvious and avoid getting too cute. I think when you’re betting on who will lead the league in rebounding, you just need to embrace dominance when you see it.

That’s coming in the form of Domantas Sabonis, who is still very much in his prime, has been the rebounding champ the last two years, and doesn’t appear to be ready to relinquish that title.

Another key factor I haven’t really touched on yet? Pace of play. Operating in a fast offensive system definitely doesn’t guarantee you’ll out-rebound everyone, but the more offensive possessions and the faster you play, the more opportunities you’ll get to snag some boards.

Sabonis played at the 14th fastest pace last year, while he helped keep the Kings inside the top-10 in rebound rate. Nothing about their philosophy or his talent is changing to the point where we should expect his numbers to dip.

Guys like Gobert, Brow, Jokic, and perhaps even Wemby and Embiid are fine NBA picks for this betting market. They all offer better value, too, but that’s because they’re a little less likely to deliver on those prices.

Sabonis is a rebounding savant and you’re getting him at +200 to lead the league in rebounding yet again. I’d lock that in and never look back.
