On Friday, November 15, two of the top fighters in women’s professional boxing will step in the ring for a second time as Amanda Serrano challenges Katie Taylor for the undisputed super lightweight championship.

This highly anticipated rematch is the co-main event bout on the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul event, which will stream live on Netflix from AT&T Stadium live from Arlington, Texas. This venue is the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

These two superstars first fought each other on April 30, 2022, live from Madison Square Garden. In fact, that bout marked the first time that two women boxers main evented the hallowed grounds of MSG.

Taylor would win that bout, but she didn’t walk away as the clear-cut better fighter of the two. In fact, there were too many unanswered questions after the conclusion of that epic encounter.

Although it took two years for this rematch to come to fruition, it’s definitely one of the most exciting fights of the year. This bout is one of seven fights scheduled for the Tyson vs. Paul event. It’s slotted in as the co-main event fight. The undercard will feature an additional five bouts as of this writing.

Serrano vs. Taylor First Fight

On April 30, 2022, Taylor and Serrano set out to decide who was arguably the greatest female boxer of all-time. In fact, the bout was billed as “For History” and many pundits stated that it was the biggest women’s fight ever.

It was such an impressive matchup that there was a ton of hype and expectations going into it. These two superstars delivered big time as they put on an instant classic. In fact, it was such a great bout that Sports Illustrated named it Fight of the Year. The Ring magazine named it Event of the Year.

So, not only did these two champions and warriors deliver on the expectations, they would exceed them to earn some of the sport’s biggest accolades.

Serrano came into the lightweight bout (135-pound limit) weighing 133.6 pounds and Taylor weighed 134.6 pounds. Both easily made weight. In addition to the weight division, the contest was also scheduled for 10 two-minute rounds.

On a side note, the WWE was heavily involved in this bout. Serrano was announced to the weigh-in stage by Bianca Belair who was the RAW Women’s Champion at the time. As of this writing, she’s the two-time Women’s Tag-Team champ along with Jade Cargill.

Taylor was introduced to the stage by her fellow countrywoman Becky Lynch. Both stars are from Ireland. Currently, Lynch is on hiatus from WWE after her contract expired. It’s unknown if/when she will re-sign with the promotion.

As for the bout itself, Taylor would win via split decision with the judges scoring the fight 96-93, 97-93, and 94-96. The Majority of fan polls had the fight pretty much as a Draw, which is why many were questioning if Taylor actually did enough to prove she was the better fighter.

Since there were so many questions left unanswered, a rematch was the only logical outcome.

Amanda Serrano Fights

Following the Taylor fight, Serrano would go on to compete in five bouts since then.

Five months after Taylor, Serrano would defend her undisputed featherweight crown against Sarah Mahfoud who was 11-0 at the time. Serrano would go on to win via unanimous decision with the scores of 97-93, 97-93, 99-92.

In February 2023, Serrano would defend that crown against Erika Cruz Hernandez (15-1) and beat her via unanimous decision as well. However, the scores were slightly better: 97-93, 97-92, 98-92.

Six months later, Serrano crushed Heather Hardy (24-2) via unanimous decision with the scores of 100-90, 100-90, 99-91. She basically won every round.

Serrano’s last bout came in October 2023, where she competed at 12 rounds of two-minute time limits. She would defeat Danila Ramos (12-2) via unanimous decision with scores of 120-108 on all three cards. Once again, Serrano swept all of the rounds.

Serrano would drop back down to a 10-round fight, but go up in weight when she took on Stevie Morgan (14-1) in July. This time, Serrano would win via 2nd round TKO. Serrano went up in weight since she will be competing at the 140-pound limit versus Taylor this weekend.

Speaking of the rematch, Serrano made the following comments:

“I promised my fans they would see this rematch after we made history at MSG and it feels like a dream come true to know that Katie and I are finally making it happen on the biggest stage possible to show the world what elite women’s boxing is all about. I believe I won our first fight, but I didn’t get the decision, so this time I’m not leaving it to the judges.”

Amanda Serrano Odds

Just like with this rematch, Serrano was an underdog in the first bout against Taylor with odds ranging from +130 to +155. Currently, she’s an Even to +130 underdog in the rematch this weekend.

Following the first bout between the two, Serrano would become a massive favorite in her next five bouts. In fact, her lowest odds were -1600 against Danila Ramos. Yet, some sportsbooks had her as a favorite at -5000 odds.

According to Pro Boxing Odds, Serrano’s only listed underdog status was anytime odds were released for a bout against Taylor.

Katie Taylor Fights

Following the clash against Serrano, Taylor would fight three more times. However, her road was tougher. In fact, Taylor would end up suffering the first loss of her professional career.

Six months after fighting Serrano, Taylor would defeat Karen Elizabath Carabajal (19-0) via unanimous decision with the scores of 98-92, 99-91, 100-91.

However, after that fight, things took an unexpected turn for Taylor and the sport of boxing. In May 2023, Taylor lost via majority decision to Chantelle Cameron (17-0) with the scores of 94-96, 94-96, 95-95.

This fight came about because Serrano suffered an eye injury and a rematch couldn’t take place. So, Taylor decided to go up in weight and challenge Cameron for the undisputed super lightweight crown.

Six months later, Taylor got her rematch against Cameron. This time, the Irishwoman got her revenge and won via majority decision with the scores of 95-95, 98-92, 96-94. Those are some interesting scores and two judges basically were at opposite sides of the spectrum.

With that said, Taylor has expressed a willingness to fight in a trilogy bout against Cameron. Currently, Taylor is the second female boxer to hold undisputed championships two weight classes. She joins Claressa Shields with this historic feat.

As for this weekend’s rematch, Taylor made the following comments:

“The result is going to be the same. I’m very, very confident. We’re both stepping into the ring very confident, I’m sure. I believe I’m just a better fighter, and the best of me always beats the best of Amanda.”

Katie Taylor Odds

In her first fight with Serrano, Taylor was actually listed as an underdog with some sportsbooks as she had a range of +147 to -125.

Taylor was favored over Cameron in their first bout with the Irishwoman listed at odds of -185 to -300. However, that all changed after the loss as Taylor went into the rematch as the underdog of +140 to +165 odds.

Taylor opened as a -180 favorite over Serrano in the rematch, but those odds have come down slightly as she currently sits at a range of -125 to -165 odds.

Serrano vs. Taylor Predictions

Taylor was actually hurt in the fifth round of their first fight. She had to rally on the cards to pull off a remarkable split decision victory. Just another reason why many felt that these two women need a rematch.

This weekend’s clash will be contested at a heavier weight, which I think will benefit Taylor more than Serrano who typically fights at featherweight.

You can expect a similar fight as the first encounter. We might not see anyone get hurt in this rematch, but I do think Taylor’s boxing skills will give her the edge as she pulls off another razor thin victory.

Bet: Katie Taylor (-130)

Taylor vs. Serrano Trilogy Fight

Ahead of their November 15 rematch, both Taylor and Serrano have already agreed to a trilogy fight regardless of the outcome on Friday. Making this trilogy bout even more exciting is the fact that both fighters are in agreement to make it a 12 three-minute round fight just like the men do.

Keep in mind, both women stated this in an interview. Formal contracts have not been signed as of yet.

The Best Serrano vs. Taylor Prop Bets

The following Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor prop bets are courtesy of BetUS:

Over/Under 8.5 rounds

  • Over 8.5 (-700)
  • Under 8.5 (+450)

Just like the sportsbooks, I also have no doubt that this bout will go over 8.5 rounds. They went the full 10 rounds in their first bout and I fully expect them to easily eclipse this 8.5 round mark.

Bet: Over 8.5 (-700)

Will Fight go the distance?

  • Yes (-500)
  • No (+330)

18 of Taylor 24 bouts have gone the distance. Serrano has gone the full distance in just 19 of her 50 pro fights, but she’s gone to the judges in seven of her last eight contests.

With two evenly matched fighters, I see no reason to think we won’t see this highly anticipated rematch go the full 10 rounds.

Bet: Yes (-500)

Method of Victory

  • Serrano via TKO/KO/DQ (+500)
  • Serrano via decision (+185)
  • Taylor via TKO/KO/DQ (+1100)
  • Taylor via decision (+110)
  • Draw (+1200)

Once with the judges, I like for Taylor to win via decision. I don’t see either woman winning by anything more than a decision. In fact, it’s hard for me to envision even a unanimous decision due to how evenly matched these boxers are.

If you want, take a flier on this bout ending in a Draw. The +1200 odds are enticing and we know that this bout will go the distance.

Bet: Taylor via decision (+110)

Betting on Rounds

  • Serrano To Win in Rounds 1-2 (+4000)
  • Serrano To Win in Rounds 3-4 (+2200)
  • Serrano To Win in Rounds 5-6 (+1600)
  • Serrano To Win in Rounds 7-8 (+1600)
  • Serrano To Win in Rounds 9-10 (+1600)
  • Serrano via Decision or Tech Decision (+185)
  • Taylor To Win In Rounds 1-2 (+6600)
  • Taylor To Win In Rounds 3-4 (+4000)
  • Taylor To Win In Rounds 5-6 (+3300)
  • Taylor To Win In Rounds 7-8 (+2800)
  • Taylor To Win In Rounds 9-10 (+3300)
  • Taylor via Decision or Tech Decision (+110)
  • Draw or Technical Draw (+1200)

Just like with the prop bet above, take Taylor to win via decision. I think she edges out Serrano by split decision once again. With that said, if you want to get risky then put a flier on a Draw.

This is boxing and there’s a history of suspicious outcomes. So, a Draw would set up a historic trilogy bout nicely. In fact, it would be the perfect segue to a 12 three-minute round trilogy bout.

Bet: Taylor Via Decision or Tech Decision (+110)
