2022 CFL Week 7 Odds and Predictions

Winnipeg showed why it’s the defending Grey Cup champion with a win over Calgary last week to improve to 6-0. The Blue Bombers are the only remaining undefeated team in the CFL. This week, Winnipeg takes on the West Division’s worst – the 2-4 Edmonton Elks.

The West Division continues its dominance over the East. No team in the East Division has a winning record. Montreal and Ottawa have one win between them and they kick off Week 7 on Thursday night. Here’s a look at the 2022 CFL Week 7 odds and predictions.

Montreal Alouettes vs. Ottawa Redblacks

Spread: MTL -1 / Total: 49.5 Points

As mentioned, these two wins have a combined one win. The Alouettes beat Saskatchewan back in June. Montreal has been close with a one-point loss to Toronto, a three-point loss to Calgary, and another one-point loss just last week to Edmonton.

The Alouettes are still getting used to a new head coach as Danny Maciocia took over last week after Khari Jones was fired. Montreal may have to change quarterbacks again as Trevor Harris threw two interceptions in the loss to Edmonton.

Ottawa (0-5) is in the same boat. The Redblacks lost last week 25-23 to Hamilton and have yet to win a game all season. Caleb Evans had 203 passing yards and 63 rushing standing in for starting QB Jeremiah Masoli. Evans will have to go again as Masoli remains out.

With the spread at a single point, neither team can be trusted. Ottawa is 0-5. Montreal is 0-5 in its last five road games. One thing that is clear is this. Montreal can score. The Alouettes average 26.8 points per game. Ottawa has offensive issues and scores just 18.2 points a game. Nine of the last 11 Redblacks games have gone Under. Add this one to it.

PREDICTION: UNDER 48

Football Odds

Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. BC Lions

Spread: BC -7 / Total: 53.5 Points

Hamilton got its first win of the season beating Ottawa last week. QB Dane Evans passed for 342 passing yards and two touchdowns in the victory. BC was off last week which gives the Lions time to get their bad loss to Winnipeg out of their heads.

It will be a good match-up of an offense that can score and a defense that gives up the second-fewest yards per play in the CFL. BC averages nearly 40 points per game. Look for that offense to be the difference. Hamilton is 0-5 ATS and BC is 4-1 ATS.

PREDICTION: BC LIONS -7

Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Edmonton Elks

Spread: WPG -8.5 / Total: 46.5 Points

There is simply no question here. Winnipeg is the best team in the CFL. Edmonton could very well be the worst. Blue Bombers QB Zach Collaros had a second 300-yard game in last week’s win over Calgary.

Edmonton allows a league-high 139.5 rushing yards and that spells trouble for a team that barely beat Montreal last week. The Elks are 3-13 SU in their last 16 games and 0-5 in their last five at home. Edmonton is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 home games and 1-4 ATS in the last five against Winnipeg.

The Bombers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games and 4-1 ATS in their last five against Edmonton. There’s a reason why this spread is at 8.5.

PREDICTION: WINNIPEG -8.5

Football Picks

Toronto Argonauts vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders

Spread: SSK -7 / Total: 46.5 Points

The Argonauts beat the Roughriders last week 30-24 behind QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson’s 276 yards and two touchdowns. Repeating that this week will be difficult.

Saskatchewan QB Cody Fajardo is still nursing a knee injury and threw three interceptions last week. Don’t expect that to happen again. Plus, the Roughriders are at home. They are 5-0 SU in their last five at home and 4-1 ATS.

Toronto has the worst pass defense in the CFL and that will play a role in this outcome. The Argos are 4- 21 SU in their last 25 road games. They are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven on the road.

Prior to last week’s game, Saskatchewan had won three in a row over Toronto all by at least 15 points.

PREDICTION: SASKATCHEWAN -7
