Our NHL handicappers have had it rough for a few weeks, but they’re finally getting their groove back.
With almost $3,000 in profit last week, it was one of the best weeks ever for the top five NHL handicappers at ScoresandStats.com.
Keep reading to find out what winning picks brought these cappers a payday.
Wisdom Leads Wize Picks to Victory
A lot of our top cappers have managed to win four or five wagers in a row to make the top of the charts, but last week, Wize Picks won seven wagers in a row and brought home $700.
Wize made profit with favorite wagers, mainly spreads and totals, as well as a few moneylines. They also wagered 3-way lines, which most handicappers don’t do. Their most curious wager was the 3-way moneyline on the Sharks and Lightning. That game wasn’t even close, with the Lightning winning by 7 points. Usually, bettors will place a 3-way wager when the two teams are closely matched because the 3-way allows for the event of a tie.
But, with the 3-way, Wize locked in a better odds price, at -187, while the all-time high for that match was -275.
Top Handicappers Last Week
Last week, the top five handicappers had a combined record of 66-37, with a win rate of 64%. The overall win rate has gone up from 58% last week, but is still a long way from the 75% a few weeks ago.
However, the volume of picks last week has increased, meaning our top cappers are betting more, albeit losing a bit more. It’s common knowledge that the more you wager, the more you lose, so the win rate is understandable. Overall, the top five managed to bring home $2,900, which is almost double last week’s winnings.
Sal Lombardi is the Underdogs’ Underdog
Last time, we saw Sal narrowly enter the top five with a 51% win percentage. Now, he places 4th with a 55.56% win rate, but still has some wild wagers in his picks list.
Sal has a particular affinity for the San Jose Sharks, even though he never wins wagers on them.
Last week, he placed two underdog wagers on the team and lost both. At +415 and +235, those numbers are crazy. I’m curious to see Sal’s reasoning behind some of these wagers, because last time we analyzed his wagers, we saw that he wasn’t betting along any sharp money with these underdog picks.
But, he still managed to make over $500 last week, so if he wants to keep long-shotting the Sharks, more power to him.
Where Our Money’s At This Week
The Minnesota Wild has unseated the Winnepeg Jets as #1 in the Western Conference, even though they are neck in neck points-wise, the Wild leads with a 0.750 point %.
The Wild plays the Oilers tonight, and the Jets play the Golden Knights, so those are bound to be two action-packed games.
The Sabres take on the Rangers tonight as well, and we have a few wagers coming in for that game so far. It looks like money is on the Sabres at +125.
Saturday we see the Sharks play the Utah Hockey Club, and we’re sure Sal will come in with an underdog pick on the Sharks as usual.
Other than that, we’ll be watching the Golden Knights and the Wild on Sunday, and the Capitals and Stars on Monday, also bound to be intense games.
