Week 9 of the college football season is full of great rivalry games and it’s a can’t miss Saturday for me. Let’s get into some of the best over/under bets of the week.
Iowa vs. Wisconsin Week 9 Total
Best Bet: OVER 36.5
Okay. This is GROSS. Talk about the epitome of the Big Ten West.
You want to know why I like the over here? The defenses. Huh? The defenses? Yes. The defenses.
Watching these 2 teams on offense is like watching a street fight montage on YouTube. You are just sitting there waiting for absolute chaos to ensue at any moment.
I think chaos will ensue here and that is likely good for these offenses in some sense. This line is so low that a pick 6 is like 20% of the total and I just have to take the over because of it. Fumbles in your own territory, horrible passes downfield, and a bunch of punts will lead to some short fields here.
Rutgers vs. Illinois Week 9 Total
Best Bet: UNDER 42
Here’s another sloppy Big Ten game, but I’ll go the opposite way here because these teams KNOW they’re sloppy. Illinois wants to win games 12-10, whether that score be from 4 field goals or maybe a 2-pt conversion in the 6th OT. Rutgers isn’t a team that can alter that plan.
Illinois wants to run the ball 70 times a game, especially with injuries piling up at QB. Rutgers and Illinois are both fundamentally sound defensively where we just won’t see a bunch of big plays. We also have 2 coaches content to punt. Take the under and you won’t sweat this one on Saturday afternoon.
Penn State vs. Ohio State Week 9 Total

Best Bet: OVER 59.5
Let’s 3 for 3 on the Big Ten here. Ohio State has had defensive issues this year and even though they seem to have passed them by, I think it’s naive to assume that they are just gone. It’s hard to change defensive structures and then magically not even give up a fluke play here or there and maybe that’s all Penn State gets here, but I don’t need a lot.
I’ve been on this Ohio State offense since the preseason and I’ll be here all season long. I think that this will end as a top 5 offense in college football history statistically and they have the top end talents to support it as well. They’re going to score 50 and that makes getting to the number pretty, pretty easy.
Georgia vs. Florida Week 9 Total
Best Bet: OVER 50
Georgia is a great defense and Florida’s offense is not that impressive play-to-play, but I love the over here. Florida has shown up offensively in big games over the last few seasons and I think that it’s clear why this happens. Dan Mullen vs. Predictable Coverage.
Georgia is gonna play their game and run a lot of simple stuff, and Dan Mullen will take advantage of this. Watch out for misdirection, man beaters, pick plays, and motion into mismatches with linebackers in coverage.
Florida will execute some big plays here and that’ll be enough to get the total over the mark here.
Ole Miss vs. Auburn Week 9 Total
Best Bet: OVER 65.5
I think that Auburn gets the lead early here and that is great for Ole Miss’s offense and the pace of this game. Ole Miss was pedal to the metal all game early on and they’ve stepped off the gas a bit recently. In this game, we should see Auburn hit on some big plays against a banged-up Ole Miss defense and Ole Miss score a bunch in catch-up mode.
