Thursday Night Football this week will showcase the New York Jets and the Indianapolis Colts. The Jets should be elated after their win over the Cincinnati Bengals. They were the first team to win as an underdog of more significant than +7.5.
The Colts will likely win the game, but player props have tremendous value on Thursday nights. Here are my top five player props for the Jets vs Colts game.
Mike White Props Picks: Over 257.5 Passing Yards
We have no clue what to expect from Mike White on Thursday night. He is 1-0 as a starting quarterback in a game where he was tremendous. White dissected the Bengals’ defense throughout the afternoon, resulting in the team’s second win.
The Jets had success letting White throw the ball downfield. There is no reason to stop this approach on Thursday. For the Jets to win, White must be successful in hitting receivers downfield. Considering he threw for 405 yards on 45 attempts, I like the odds.
Mike White Props Picks: Interception (Yes)
White was tremendous in the pocket last week in his first start. However, the quarterback does turn over the football. In two appearances this year, he has four interceptions. The Jets are going to ask White to throw the football.
In his past two games, he has had 77 attempts. This gives the quarterback a lot of room for error. I will be shocked if White does not give up the football once on Thursday.
Carson Wentz Props Picks: Over 31.5 Completions
The Jets surprised a lot of people against the Bengals last week. This could have been a one-hit-wonder game for White and the team. New York has won twice this season, so they are not the most consistent team in football.
Although, if their offensive approach stays true, they will throw the ball. If the Colts allow the Jets to find the endzone, Carson Wentz will also have to throw. The Colts can hand the ball to Jonathan Taylor all day, but the key to scoring is Wentz.
The quarterback is coming off a game where he threw 51 times. This was an anomaly, but the team is not afraid to put the ball in his hands. If this game is somewhat close, Wentz surpasses this total. I think New York puts up the first-half fight.
Jonathan Taylor Props Picks: First TD Scorer
Jonathan Taylor will be given carries in this game. I think most of his production will come early if the Colts try to establish the ground game. Taylor is a threat with the football in his hands.
The odds of him scoring at any time are high. It’s worth taking a chance on him as the game’s first scorer.
Michael Carter Props Picks: Over 34.5 Receiving Yards
Michael Carter showed that he could create plays out of the backfield catching the ball. If the Jets rely on throwing, Carter will exceed this total with ease. He had 67 and 95 yards receiving in his past two games, respectively.
Carter is used as a primary option and safety valve for White. This will keep the Colts off-balance, allowing him to exceed his total.
