College Football Week 10 Parlay Picks

Let me see if I’ve got this straight; Spencer Rattler of Oklahoma was the Heisman Trophy front-runner and candidate to be the NFL’s #1 draft choice. And he’s completed 75% of his passes.

Yet he was benched and the freshman who came in for him – Caleb Williams – HE’S now a top Heisman candidate, while Rattler’s father is discussing that maybe his son could transfer somewhere else to rehabilitate himself?

Sounds like anybody they plug into the Oklahoma situation could be a Heisman guy. I don’t know what that says for Kyler Murray or Baker Mayfield.

If you’re looking for real difference-makers on your Heisman ballot, consider Sam Hartman.

Army at Air Force Parlay Betting

Army vs. Air Force Prediction

Time: Saturday, November 6 – 11:30 AM ET

Totals Odds: Over 37 Points (-110) / Under 37 Points (-110)

The Play: UNDER 37 POINTS (-110)

This year they won’t have to wait for the Army-Navy to determine the winner of the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy. It’s going to be decided in Glove Life Park in Arlington, Texas, and the “force” might have an edge.

And that edge would come on defense. Playing a schedule that includes the likes of Boise State and San Diego State, only Utah State has scored more than 20 points against them. In fact, the Falcons are third nationally in total defense, behind only Wisconsin and Georgia.

In a rivalry where scheme in and of itself presents no mysteries, these teams are just about dead-even in the rushing department, at 1-2 in the national ranks. Neither one of them throws very much. If we can be confident about anything, it’s a low score. The last seven meetings have gone under the total, and the last four have generated a total of 99 points.

Georgia Tech at Miami Parlay Betting

Georgia Tech vs. Miami Prediction

Time: Saturday, November 6 – 12:30 ET

ATS Odds: Miami Hurricanes -10.5 (-110) vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +10.5 (-110)

The Play: MIAMI -10.5 (-110)

Miami fans, spoiled by a number of national championships, may be seeing the future unfold before their eyes. D’Eriq King, the Houston transfer, was dynamic, but never brought the results they were looking for.

Now comes freshman Tyler Van Dyke, no relation to Dick or Jerry but looking very much like a prime-time performer nonetheless. After yet another injury to King, he’s taken over, and more to the point, he’s TAKEN OVER. driving this team to back-to-back wins over ranked foes NC State and Pitt, with 426 yards against the Panthers. Overall, he’s at 63.4% and averaging 9.2 yards an attempt. If he’s not careful, he may save Manny Diaz’s job.

Meanwhile, Geoff Collins is finding out how difficult it is transitioning from a triple-option offense to something more pro-style (which newly-minted Georgia Southern coach Clay Helton will find out soon enough). His QB, Jeff Sims, is good on his feet, but as a passer, kind of pedestrian. And the Yellow Jackets are 110th in pass efficiency defense.

Wake Forest at North Carolina Parlay Betting

Wake Forest vs. North Carolina Prediction

Time: Saturday, November 6 – Noon ET

ATS Odds: North Carolina Tar Heels -2.5 (-110) vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons +2.5 (-110)

The Play: WAKE FOREST +2.5 (-110)

Wake Forest is in the top ten for the first time in its football history. Not even when they participated in the Orange Bowl were they ranked this highly.

With the outside possibility of a playoff spot still alive, we’re not expecting any letdown against a UNC squad that is flawed in many ways. For one thing, they are 86th in the nation in pass efficiency defense, and that won’t bode well against Sam Hartman, who has averaged 9.9 yards a pass, with a 22-3 TD-INT ratio and the fifth-highest QB rating in the country, which for an undefeated team, should make him a genuine Heisman Trophy candidate.

The other Sam – Howell – was touted as a Heisman possibility early on, but he lost his elite running back duo to the NFL and has suffered some attrition in the wide receiver corps. Wake’s the more complete team, and we’re fine with them as a dog play.

College Football Picks

Michigan State at Purdue Parlay Betting

Michigan State vs. Purdue Prediction

Time: Saturday, November 6 – 3:30 ET

ATS Odds: Michigan State Spartans -3 (-110) vs. Purdue Boilermakers +3 (-110)

The Play: PURDUE +3 (-110)

Here’s one situation where a winning team from last week could be reading their press clippings. Sparty got a monumental comeback to beat a hated in-state rival and kept themselves not just alive in the national playoff discussion, but right in the thick of things,as they are #5 in the latest Associated Press poll.

But Purdue, which upset Iowa’s applecart a few weeks ago, then suffered a letdown of its own against Wisconsin, is viable here.

And this may surprise you about the #5 team in the country, in a bruising conference like the Big Ten, but as of now, only one team in the entire nation has allowed more passing yards per game than they have. That should leave enough room for Aidan O’Connell (who had 375 yards vs. Iowa) to operate. Certainly it’s more formidable than the musical chairs at QB Michigan had last week, although Purdue lacks a ground attack.

Speaking of that, the Boilermakers’ biggest challenge is slowing down Kenneth Walker, perhaps the best back in the nation (1194 yards, 14 TD’s). But let’s see if these Spartans are mentally ready.

Coastal Carolina at Georgia Southern Parlay Betting

Coastal Carolina vs. Georgia Southern Prediction

Time: Saturday, November 6 – 6 ET

ATS Odds: Coastal Carolina Chanticleers -20 (-110) vs. Georgia Southern Eagles +20 (-110)

The Play: COASTAL CAROLINA -20 (-110)

Here’s one for you fans of statistics – Georgia Southern is 124th in the nation in pass efficiency defense, and 128th in passing yards allowed. They have yielded 4.8 yards per rush, 98th in the land. And Coastal comes in with four different ball carriers who have more than 20 attempts and over six yards per carry, not to mention the guy with the nation’s highest QB rating, Grayson McCall.

And as you may know, Clay Helton has been named head coach at Georgia Southern, after he was fired at USC. Many of the alumni wanted a triple-option coach, but the athletic director wanted to get more “modern,” so what you’ll see is a lot of scrambling on the part of these players to find somewhere else to play, as their long-time system is about to be scrapped.

That doesn’t help the Eagles’ cause on Saturday against a team that has topped 50 points four times.
