Dallas, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and the New York Jets all pulled off upsets as moneyline underdogs in Week 8. The Jets were 11.5-point underdogs to the Cincinnati Bengals and ended up the right end of a 34-31 decision.
So, who will it be this week? There are a handful of underdogs worth backing. There are the top three NFL Week 9 moneyline underdog picks.
Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints
Falcons vs. Saints Money Line Pick
The biggest news coming out the Falcons-Saints Week 9 matchup revolves around New Orleans QB Jameis Winston. The Saints quarterback was injured last week in the team’s win over Tampa Bay. It was late revealed that Winston tore an ACL.
The means he is done for the season and the Saints may now have a quarterback issue. Backup Taysom Hill is still in concussion protocol. Regardless, this is the perfect opportunity for Atlanta to slip in and win a game they probably shouldn’t.
The Falcons will once again be without WR Calvin Ridley which allowed Carolina to shut down rookie TE Kyle Pitts last week. Atlanta QB Matt Ryan and the Falcons offense are going to have to come up with ways to move the ball against a pretty good Saints defense.
New Orleans has won the last three straight and six of the last seven against Atlanta. The only Falcons win came in 2019, a 26-9 win in New Orleans. It’s a longshot, but the Falcons catch some breaks and pull a massive upset.

Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers
Cardinals vs. 49ers Money Line Pick
The Arizona Cardinals fell for the first time this season in a loss to Green Bay last Thursday. Still, the Cardinals are 7-1 and in control of the NFC West.
Fellow division foe San Francisco won for the first time in five games last week. They beat Chicago 33-22 on the road. At home this season, the 49ers have yet to win. They are 0-3 at Levi’s Stadium.
The Niners are now 3-4 and they are done just yet. A win over Arizona would be huge and could propel San Francisco into a strong second half of the season. When the two teams played in October, the Cardinals won but only by a touchdown, 17-10.
Arizona QB Kyler Murray is nursing a sprained ankle and that could have an effect on one of the NFL’s highest-scoring offenses. San Francisco has won three of the last five games in this series. Sunday’s win will be a turning point in their season.

Houston Texans vs. Miami Dolphins
Texans vs. Dolphins Money Line Pick
Both of these teams are awful. One of them has to win, so why not the underdog? There is hope that Texans QB Tyrod Taylor comes back and plays this week. He is still listed as questionable and if he can’t go it will be up to Davis Mills once again.
If Mills does have to start, that might not be all that bad. He was 29-of-38 for 310 yards and two touchdowns last week against the Rams. Yes, most of that was done after the Rams had built a 38-0 lead, but the rookie will take those numbers.
Miami is just in complete disarray. After winning their opener, the Dolphins have lost seven straight. QB Tua Tagovailoa has become extremely mediocre. That plus this – Houston has beaten Miami in eight of the last nine meetings between the two teams – is enough to give the Texans hope.
