A tradition unlike any other, the 21st Puppy Bowl returns on Sunday, February 9. This annual clash of cuteness, sees the two most lovable teams (Team Fluff and Team Ruff) battle for the Lombarky Trophy.
As someone who has covered the Puppy Bowl since 2019, and has watched since its debut in 2005, I look forward to this annual event. In fact, most years, I rather watch the Puppy Bowl than the Super Bowl.
This year, the 2025 Puppy Bowl boasts of the largest number of puppies ever (142). These precious dogs come from 40 states, 80 shelters and two countries. Additionally, there’s nearly a dozen pups with special needs that are competing in this weekend’s event.
One of the biggest changes to this year’s Puppy Bowl, is the Puppy Bowl Kickoff special that features a Puppy Combine. 10 pups will compete in a series of challenges as they show off their skills and cuteness.
Oh, and we can’t forget about the adorable kittens that put on an incredible Kitty Half-Time Show each year. This 15-minute segment easily surpasses any Super Bowl Half-Time Show in cuddliness, cuteness, oohs and aahs.
With that said, let’s take a look at the latest Puppy Bowl odds, courtesy of the top sports betting sites, and make our 2025 Puppy Bowl predictions.

Puppy Bowl Predictions
Check out our predictions for the latest Puppy Bowl prop bets including the Puppy Bowl MVP, Total Score, and Winner:
Puppy Bowl MVP Gender
- Male (-120)
- Female (-120)
Most years, the balance of power between male and female puppies is pretty even. However, I really like a handful of the male dogs this year. In fact, I believe that we will see a few of these male dogs dominate the game and bring home some big awards.
The last four MVPs were males, and I see that trend continuing in the 2025 Puppy Bowl. Neither betting option offers more value on the surface. However, after you examine the rosters and competitors, you will find that the puppy power leans towards the male dogs this year.
Bet: Male (-120)
What Letter Will MVP Start With?
- A-J (-130)
- K-Z (-110)

Although I will also be rooting for Dee-Bone Samuel in this event, I believe that two of the best options for the Puppy Bowl MVP are Paws Allen and Saquon Barky. Yes, you guessed it, these two precious pups are named after NFL superstars Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley.
In the 2024-25 NFL MVP race, both Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley finished in the Top 3 for votes along with Lamar Jackson. It was the closest MVP race in the last decade. Buffalo Bills’ QB Josh Allen ended up edging out Jackson for the award.
Paws Allen is a Labrador Retriever mix that comes from Buddy’s Second Chance Rescue in Buffalo, New York. Animal Planet lists the following description of Team Fluff’s Paws Allen:
“Like his namesake, Paws Allen is known for his incredible arm strength – especially when it comes to tug-of-war! He’s sure to get the crowd cheering on gameday!”
My other top contender to win MVP is Saquon Barky who hails from the Providence Animal Center in Media, Pennsylvania. Barky, a member of Team Ruff, is an Australian shepherd mix and Bernese Mountain dog. In other words, Barky is built to run through the defense just like his NFL namesake.
I might be slightly biased considering Saquon Barkley and Josh Allen are my two favorite NFL players. Additionally, the Buffalo Bills are my favorite football team. Considering that Allen just won the MVP award, I’m leaning towards Paws Allen to win the Puppy Bowl MVP. Either way, take the K-Z betting option for this Puppy Bowl prop bet.
Bet: K-Z (-110)
Will There Be Any Mating?
- Yes (+425)
- No (-800)
It seems that Animal Planet and the Puppy Bowl officials are going to be on the lookout for any mating incidents. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise then, that we see the No option as a large favorite.
Considering that the Puppy Bowl is taped months in advanced, I’m sure that any in-game mating occurrences will be edited out. With that said, I wonder what Puppy Bowl infraction mating falls under.
Bet: No (-800)
Which Dog Will Score Winning TD?
- Travis (+800)
- Charles (+1000)
- Mardipaw (+1000)
- Dee-Bone Samuel (+1200)
- Sarge (+1200)
- Jason (+1200)
- Huxley (+1600)
- Suds (+1600)
- Sprinkle (+1600)
- Smoosh (+1600)
There are dozens of betting options for this Puppy Bowl prop. So, it’s really a dart throw or pulling a name out of a hat when it comes to prediction the dog that will score the winning touchdown. And, considering there are at least 20 touchdowns scored in a game, it’s hard to know which pup and when that pup will score the winning TD.
Since I took Paws Allen and Saquon Barky in the MVP conversation, I will pick my other favorite in Dee-Bone Samuel out of Sacramento, California. This Poodle mix is going to make an impact in the Puppy Bowl. His versatility will be on display just like his namesake Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers.
Bet: Dee-Bone Samuel (+1200)
Puppy Bowl Total Score?
- Over 190½ Points (+110)
- Under 190½ Points (-150)
Since the Puppy Bowl started keeping score in 2015 (Puppy Bowl XI), no game has ever come close to 190 total points. The highest total was in 2023, at Puppy Bowl 19. That game went to Overtime and Team Fluff won 87-83, which is a combined score of 170 points.
I think the oddsmakers got this line very wrong. There is a ton of value with the Under as no team has scored more than 93 points, and no game has gone over 170 total points.
Bet: Under 190½ Points (-150)
Puppy Bowl Winner
- Team Ruff (-110)
- Team Fluff (-130)
Since winners started being kept in 2015, Team Fluff and Team Ruff have both won five games apiece. However, Team Ruff pulled off the 72-69 victory last year. Team Fluff had won two in a row and three of the previous four games coming into Puppy Bowl 20.
Although Team Fluff is the favored team for this year’s big game, and has my top MVP choice in Paws Allen, I like Team Ruff to win a second Puppy Bowl in a row.
Team Ruff has both Dee-Bone Samuel and Saquon Barky, two of my favorites in this game. Additionally, I’m liking what I see from my “sleeper” Foxtrot. He’s a Border Collie mix out of Pet Haven in Minneapolis, Minnesota. My sources are telling my that his “always happy” pup could be a surprise factor in the 21st Puppy Bowl.
Also, don’t count out Maxx just because he has only three legs. This Doberman Pincher remains one of the fastest and most agile dogs in the Puppy Bowl. Lastly, Aloe is an American Foxhound that could be a secret weapon for Team Ruff late in the game.
Bet: Team Ruff (-110)
