The MLB season is starting to take shape, and we are entering the third week of action. MLB betting has been unpredictable to start, but we have stats to utilize. One of the best markets to wager is the over/under.
Totals are fun to bet because you get to root for both teams. The way to study is by looking at the pitchers and offenses competing. Here are my best MLB over/under bets for April 18!
Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians
White Sox vs. Guardians Prediction
Best Bet: Under 7.5
The Chicago White Sox are the clear favorite to win the AL Central. They are off to a hot start, going 6-3 to start the season. However, their offense has been inconsistent.
Chicago will have a tough time against Triston McKenzie of Cleveland on Monday. In seven innings, he has a 2.57 ERA with a 1.0 WHIP.
Dallas Keuchel will pitch for Chicago. He started the season in a rough way. However, he has elite strikeout ability, which is beneficial for the under.
The Guardians have a lackluster offense to begin. Therefore, if Keuchel starts strong, I love the under on Monday.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Washington Nationals
Diamondbacks vs. Nationals Prediction
Best Bet: Under 8
The Arizona Diamondbacks have an atrocious offense, so I always like the under when they play. Arizona needs help to get over.
The Nationals have some great hitters like Juan Soto and Josh Bell. Although, the rest of the team is struggling. Additionally, they will face Madison Bumgarner, who is the ace of Arizona.
Bumgarner has a 2.25 ERA over eight innings of work. Josiah Gray is also one of the best pitchers on Washington’s staff. Gray is 1-1 on the year with a 4.0 ERA.
If the pitchers show up, this game should stay under. There is not enough firepower with solid pitching.
San Francisco Giants vs. New York Mets
Giants vs. Mets Prediction
Best Bet: Over 6.5
The 6.5 total for the Giants and Mets is extremely low. There are tremendous pitchers for both sides.
Yet, I would not trust the Giants and Mets to stay under. Both these offenses can explode at any time.
Tylor Megill has been tremendous for New York. He is 2-0 on the year with a .58 ERA. Although, the Giants can score at will if they get lucky.
New York’s offense should take shape in this matchup. Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor have been on fire to start the year. Their biggest contribution has been the long ball.
Lindor and Alonso have both went yard three times this season.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Pirates vs. Brewers Prediction
Best Bet: Under 8.5
The Pittsburgh Pirates take advantage of mistakes, but they are not powerful. The same thing goes for the Brewers, and they are very inconsistent. This is an issue when it comes to betting overs.
You may get burnt occasionally with these teams. However, for the most time, these teams I’ll yield an under.
Both pitchers in this game have been blown up early. Although, the offenses are too risky to bet the over.
Best of luck betting on MLB for Monday.
