Top Five NFL Player Props Picks for Monday Night Football Week 10

You had to be scratching your head watching the Los Angeles Rams last time out as they fumbled and stumbled their way to a defeat at the hands of the Tennessee Titans, who were playing without Derrick Henry.

But were the San Francisco 49ers any better? They went flat against an Arizona Cardinals squad that had to play career journeyman Colt McCoy at quarterback in place of the much more dynamic Kyler Murray.

That doesn’t sound like a glamorous setup, but we would expect that these teams are ready for a more complete effort.

Elijah Mitchell Props Picks: Over 63.5 Rushing Yards

MNF Props Odds: Over 63.5 Yards -115 / Under 63.5 Yards -115

San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan’s philosophy is not unlike that of his father Mike, in that he considers it essential to establish a running game. And they have in fact run the ball 42.5% of the time.

Because of injuries that have robbed the backfield of others, namely Raheem Mostert, much of the burden has fallen on Mitchell, a sixth-round draft pick from Louisiana-Lafayette, where they had a very imposing three-headed ground attack.

Mitchell has been perhaps the Niners’ most pleasant surprise, with a rather robust 5.2 yards per carry.

And since the Rams’ defensive scheme is such that they will allow some cushion for the run in the interest of slowing down “explosive” plays, Mitchell should find some room here.

NFL Odds Tonight

Darrell Henderson Props Picks: Under 90.5 Rushing/Receiving Yards

MNF Props Odds: Over 90.5 Yards -115 / Under 90.5 Yards -115

One might think that because Robert Woods has gone down with an ACL injury, that might cause Matthew Stafford to look toward his running backs. But we think he’ll look elsewhere. Henderson is averaging about 70 yards rushing per game. And he’s averaged 16 yards in receptions.

He’s got an ankle issue as well, which might mean some additional action for ex-Patriot Sony Michel.

Tyler Higbee Props Picks: Under 40.5 Receiving Yards

MNF Props Odds: Over 40.5 Yards -115 / Under 40.5 Yards -115

Higbee averages just under four catches and 36 yards per game. And, with Woods out of the game, he might be a convenient outlet for Stafford to seek i the short-range passing game.

But the Niners have done a particularly good job against tight ends. In eight games, they have allowed 30 receptions for 272 yards. That’s 3.75 catches and 34 yards a game, and that stands up to almost any team in the National Football League.

NFL Predictions Tonight

Van Jefferson Props Picks: Over 47.5 Receiving Yards

MNF Props Odds: Over 47.5 Yards -115 / Under 47.5 Yards -115

We know that Cooper Kupp is the #1 option for Matthew Stafford; in fact, he’s probably the #1 receiver in the NFL thus far in 2021. But generally, Robert Woods has been the distraction that has helped make that happen. Without him, Jefferson is the guy who may have to handle that responsibility.

No, his catch percentage isn’t particularly high (58.7%), but Stafford tends to look for him deep (13.5 Air yards per attempt to Jefferson). The second-year pro is averaging 16 yards per reception. And the Niners are ranked near the bottom of the league in DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) in defending deep balls.

Odell Beckham Jr. is on board now, but while he may return some kicks on Monday night, he is not likely to be a big part of the offense from scrimmage just yet.

Jimmy Garoppolo Props Picks: Under 250.5 Passing Yards

MNF Props Odds: Over 250.5 Yards -115 / Under 250.5 Yards -115

Yes, Jimmy G’s got George Kittle back, and that’s cause for happiness. He had 101 yards in the loss to Arizona last week. And we should mention that we’re not positive about whether Von Miller is going to play, as the Rams want to be very cautious with him. On the other hand, Sean McVay expressed optimism about him playing at his Saturday press conference.

Garoppolo is ranked dead last among 35 qualified NFL quarterbacks when it comes to handling pressure, as per the analytics site Pro Football Focus. And last season his passer rating when he was under pressure dipped 45.2 points lower than when he was not. The Rams are second in the league in sacks per game, and they have done that without Miller. So you know that they are going to be bringing pressure. And San Francisco’s right tackle, Mike McGlinchey, a good one, is sidelined with an injury.
