Cavaliers Look to Stay Hot as Grizzlies Come to Town
The Cleveland Cavaliers are clicking on all cylinders, and the rest of the Eastern Conference should be on notice. Riding a six-game winning streak, the Cavs host the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, looking to solidify their spot at the top.
Cleveland is coming off a dominant 37-point win over the New York Knicks, their second-largest victory of the season. Meanwhile, Memphis pulled off a thrilling 105-104 comeback win over Orlando, showing resilience after a tough loss in Indiana.
Cavs Finding New Levels of Dominance
Donovan Mitchell led the charge Friday, dropping 24 of his 27 points in the first half, while Evan Mobley was a force inside, scoring 21 points on 82% shooting. But Cleveland’s depth has been a game-changer, thanks to Ty Jerome and De’Andre Hunter.
Jerome put up 19 points in just 19 minutes, while Hunter went a perfect 4-for-4 from deep, continuing his red-hot shooting since joining from Atlanta.

Head coach Kenny Atkinson praised Hunter’s seamless fit:
“He’s got edge, physicality, and confidence. Some guys try to fit in—he’s just stepped in and said, ‘I’m here.’”
Hunter and Jerome, who won an NCAA title together at Virginia in 2019, are proving to be a lethal one-two punch off the bench.
“If we can win a championship together at this level, that’s where our minds are at,” Jerome said.
Allen’s Status Uncertain
The only setback for Cleveland? Jarrett Allen suffered a right-hand injury against the Knicks. While X-rays ruled out a fracture, he remains day-to-day for Sunday’s matchup.
Grizzlies Show Resilience After Stunning Comeback
Memphis enters this game riding the high of a gutsy win over the Magic. Down 19 points in the third quarter, the Grizzlies stormed back, closing the game on an 11-1 run.

Ja Morant (23 points), Jaren Jackson Jr. (16 points), and Desmond Bane (16 points) led the charge, with Bane sinking the game-winning free throw in the final minute. Jackson sealed the win with a clutch block on Paolo Banchero’s potential game-winner.
Head coach Taylor Jenkins praised his squad’s grit:
“It took everything we had. We just kept chipping away. This was a big-time win.”
Who Has the Edge?
Cleveland has won six straight and looks unstoppable, but Memphis has proven they won’t go down without a fight. If Allen is out, the Cavs may have to adjust defensively, while the Grizzlies will try to exploit any interior weaknesses.
Can the Cavs keep rolling, or will the Grizzlies pull off another upset?
We’ll find out Sunday night.
