Clippers Look to Snap Losing Streak Against Red-Hot Pistons
The Los Angeles Clippers are looking for answers after back-to-back losses post-All-Star break, but they’ll have to find them against one of the hottest teams in the league—the Detroit Pistons.
Detroit has won six straight games, their longest streak since the 2014-15 season, and they’re proving they can win in different ways. Despite early foul trouble in Sunday’s game against Atlanta, the Pistons found a way to win a wild 148-143 shootout.
Pistons’ Offense Firing on All Cylinders
Detroit’s previous five wins were all by double digits, but against Atlanta, they had to outscore their opponent in a high-paced battle. The Pistons shot 59.1% from the field, and as usual, Cade Cunningham led the way with a 38-point, 12-assist performance.
Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff praised his team’s adaptability:
“I’m most pleased with our guys’ willingness to figure it out, and tonight was a night where we had to outscore people.”

The X-factor? Dennis Schroder. The veteran guard, acquired at the trade deadline, added 16 points and 7 assists in just 22 minutes off the bench, giving Detroit another playmaker to take pressure off Cunningham.
Clippers Struggling Without Key Players
Los Angeles has dropped both games since the All-Star break, including a 129-111 loss to Indiana on Sunday. The Clippers were missing two key starters—Norman Powell (knee) and Kawhi Leonard (foot)—and it showed.
Indiana shot 54.8% from the field, took control early, and never looked back. Clippers coach Tyronn Lue admitted the team struggled to defend:
“Our one-on-one defense, getting cracked off the dribble, really hurt us. We just didn’t do a good job containing those guys in transition.”

With Powell and Leonard’s status uncertain, the Clippers will once again lean on James Harden, who had 31 points and 11 assists against the Pacers.
Harden knows they need to find a way to win, even with injuries:
“Missing two of your best players makes it that much more difficult, but we’ve got to gut it out and find a way to win.”
What’s at Stake?
- Detroit is looking for their seventh straight win, their best run in nearly a decade.
- Los Angeles is desperate to stop the skid and stay competitive in the West.
- This is the first of two matchups between these teams—the rematch is set for March 5 in LA.
Can the Clippers bounce back, or will the Pistons stay hot and extend their winning streak? Tip-off is Monday night in Detroit
