The Atlanta Hawks will aim to snap their losing streak against the surging Indiana Pacers when the two teams begin a two-game set in Atlanta on Thursday night.

Atlanta has lost five straight meetings against Indiana, including a five-point defeat in Indianapolis on Feb. 1. The Hawks have also dropped six of their last eight games, including a 127-121 home loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

Despite a late 8-0 run to tie the game with just over a minute left, the Hawks couldn’t close it out, as the Bucks scored the final six points.

“I thought the effort was there, considering we played on a back-to-back,” said assistant coach Igor Kokoskov, who filled in for a sick Quin Snyder. “We competed for 48 minutes, but playing hard isn’t good enough. We have to play well.”

A bright spot for Atlanta has been the impact of trade deadline acquisitions Caris LeVert (16.8 ppg) and Georges Niang (13.3 ppg). Meanwhile, Trae Young continues to lead the team with 23.6 points and an NBA-best 11.5 assists per game.

Indiana (No. 5 seed in the East) has won six of its last eight games and is 19-7 since the start of 2025. In their latest victory, the Pacers survived a late scare against the Houston Rockets before pulling away with a 20-6 run to secure a 13-point win on Tuesday.

Tyrese Haliburton was instrumental, recording 28 points and 15 assists—his sixth straight double-double. Despite being outrebounded 58-35, the Pacers found ways to win.

“Tyrese was great tonight,” Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. “He’s learned how to adjust to different defenses and keep our runs going. The balance has been great.”

Since the All-Star break, Haliburton has been exceptionally efficient, averaging just 1.1 turnovers per game. Pascal Siakam, who contributed 18 points against Houston, leads the team with 20.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while Haliburton adds 18.5 points and 8.9 assists.

Pacers Dominate Recent Matchups

Indiana hasn’t lost to Atlanta since March 25, 2023, winning the last four meetings by an average of 24.8 points. The Pacers will look to extend their dominance but could be without Bennedict Mathurin (16.2 ppg), who has missed the last three games with a sprained wrist and is questionable for Thursday. Haliburton (hip) is also listed as questionable.
