The Stars Can Win If…
Dallas dropped to 41-20-2 with a 4-2 loss to the Panthers. The Stars were underdogs on the puck line, and the total of 6.5 goals went under, with the teams combining for 6 goals.
After falling behind 2-0, the Stars tied it up with two goals in the second period. However, the Panthers scored twice more, including an empty-netter, to seal the win.
Dallas took 25 shots on goal but managed just two scores in their 4-2 loss to Florida. Evgenii Dadonov netted his second goal of the season, while Matt Duchene added his seventh. Duchene also picked up his eighth assist on Dadonov’s power-play goal.
After a scoreless first period, the Stars got on the board with Dadonov’s power-play goal at 8:38 in the second. Duchene followed with a goal at 11:22. The Stars were credited with 32 giveaways in the game.

After tying the game at 2-2 in the second period, the Stars’ defense gave up two goals in the third, including an empty-netter, leading to a 4-2 loss. Casey DeSmith made 21 saves with an 87.5% save percentage. Defensively, Dallas had 5 takeaways and 26 hits.
- Dallas will look to keep things rolling as they have put together a mark of 2-1 over their past three games. This includes going 1-2 vs. the puck line and posting an over-under mark of 2-1.
- Over their last ten regular season games, the Stars have gone 7-3 straight up. Across these games, their puck line record was just 6-4, while posting an over-under record of 9-1.
The Canucks Can Win If…
With a 3-2 win over the Sharks, the Canucks improved to 29-22-11. Vancouver didn’t cover the puck line as -1.5 goal favorites, and the total of 5 goals fell short of the 6.5-goal line.
The Sharks scored first, but Pius Suter tied it up at 5:19 in the second period. Jake DeBrusk gave the Canucks a 2-1 lead in the third, and after the Sharks tied it again, Suter scored the game-winner with just 26 seconds left.
Pius Suter led the Canucks with two goals in their 3-2 win over the Sharks, scoring his third and fourth of the season. Jake DeBrusk added his first goal of the year at the 4:22 mark in the third period.

Vancouver took 27 shots on goal and had 25 giveaways. The Canucks were held scoreless in the first period, with Suter’s first goal coming at 5:19 in the second period.
Defensively, the Canucks will look to improve after allowing the first goal at 2:37 into the 2nd period and another at 18:43 in the 3rd. Kevin Lankinen finished with 21 saves and a 91.3% save percentage. The Canucks’ defense also recorded 5 takeaways and 24 hits.
- Through their last three games, the Canucks have a record of 2-1. Their record vs the puck line in these matchups is less impressive at 1-2, while posting an over-under record of 1-2.
- Through their last ten regular season contests, Vancouver has a record of 6-4. The team’s record vs the puck line was just 5-5, in addition to an over-under mark of 2-8.
The Lean
When it comes to a moneyline wager, I’m going with the Canucks to defeat the Stars while playing at home. Given the current moneyline odds at +120, I’m placing a wager on the Canucks to win outright.
Our projections have the Canucks pulling out a win as the underdog. But if you’re not as bullish as we are on the Canucks, we’d recommend at least getting a bet down on them to cover the puck line.
With an over/under line sitting at 5.5 goals, we like this game to surpass that mark and recommend getting a bet down on the over.
Stars Hope for Good to Outweigh the Bad Against Canucks
The Dallas Stars are looking to bounce back after a tough loss to the Edmonton Oilers, despite a strong debut from newly acquired forward Mikko Rantanen. They’ll get their chance Sunday when they continue their road trip against the Vancouver Canucks.
Stars Seeking a Rebound After Tough Loss
The good: Rantanen notched a goal and an assist in his first game with the Stars after being traded on Friday and signing an eight-year contract extension.
The bad: Dallas saw its four-game winning streak snapped in a 5-4 loss to Edmonton to open its four-game road swing.
“Hopefully it gets better and better,” Rantanen said. “I could tell, this team likes to play with the puck. That’s a big reason I wanted to play here.”
Another tough blow came when standout center Roope Hintz exited in the second period after being struck in the face by a puck. Head coach Peter DeBoer confirmed Hintz was taken to the hospital but remained hopeful about his condition.
“Everyone’s optimistic it’s not serious, but we won’t know until we get testing,” DeBoer said.
The Stars remain in solid form with a 12-3-1 stretch, but the loss to the Oilers was a reminder that attention to detail is critical. Wyatt Johnston extended his goal streak to five games and his point streak to nine, but Dallas surrendered five goals before the second period ended, making their comeback attempt fall just short.
“We deserved what we got every period,” captain Jamie Benn said. “Details were sloppy in the first (period). We come in down 3-1. Dig yourself a hole against a good team like that and it’s hard to come back.”
Canucks Trying to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive
The Canucks are riding a two-game winning streak following a crucial 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Friday. After a tough road trip where they won just once in five games, Vancouver has responded well to start its four-game homestand.
“We’re into March now,” head coach Rick Tocchet said. “You got to be up for every game. It doesn’t matter who you play. Dallas is a really good hockey team. They’re very well-coached, (and) obviously, getting Rantanen is going to give them another star player.”
Vancouver is currently on a 5-0-1 run at home but sits one point behind the Calgary Flames for the Western Conference’s second wild-card spot. With 20 games left, the Canucks are running out of time to climb the standings.
A positive sign came Friday when Elias Pettersson finally broke a 15-game goal drought with an early tally against Minnesota.
“Like I said the other day, I’m not perfect,” Pettersson said. “I know this hasn’t been my best season, but I can’t change it, and I’m just trying to get better every day. And (Friday) was a good day — we got a win, had a goal.”
Vancouver captain Quinn Hughes (lower body) missed practice Saturday, and his availability for Sunday remains uncertain.
With both teams fighting for crucial points, this matchup carries significant weight in the Western Conference playoff picture.
