New York City FC’s Task: Keep New England Winless and Scoreless
New York City FC will look to build on their first victory of the season when they host a struggling New England Revolution squad Saturday night at Yankee Stadium.
NYCFC Aims to Keep Momentum Going
After a slow offensive start to the season, NYCFC (1-1-1, 4 points) broke through in their home opener last weekend with a 2-1 win over Orlando City. Alonso Martinez struck early, and Hannes Wolf provided the game-winning goal in the 71st minute.

Coach Pascal Jansen knows his squad must continue improving despite facing a New England team that has yet to score this season.
“We have to do better and be better than we were in the previous game in order to be successful again,” Jansen said.
NYCFC swept New England last season, winning both meetings by a combined 3-0 scoreline.
Revolution Still Searching for Their First Goal
New England (0-2-1, 1 point) has struggled offensively, getting shut out in all three of its matches so far. The Revolution are coming off a 2-0 loss to the Philadelphia Union, marking the second straight season they’ve started 0-3-0.
Coach Caleb Porter remains patient despite the slow start.
“We’re three games into a season … and we’ve got a bunch of new players,” Porter said. “We need time. I’m very confident in this group.”
The Revolution have managed just five shots on target in three games, with Leonardo Campana and Max Urruti accounting for four of them. Star midfielder Carles Gil (41 career MLS goals) has yet to put a shot on frame this season.
