Celtics Return Home After Historic Road Trip to Face Surging Heat
Fresh off a record-setting six-game road sweep, the Boston Celtics return to TD Garden on Wednesday with a chance to keep their momentum rolling — but standing in their way is a Miami Heat team that’s suddenly found its spark.
Boston (56-19) made franchise history by going 6-0 on a single road trip for the first time, surpassing their previous best of 5-0 set back in 1973. Each win came by double digits, with an impressive average margin of victory of 17.8 points. The Celtics now boast a 32-7 road record — the best in the league — and a nine-game winning streak overall.

“It’s special any time you make history in this league,” said Jayson Tatum. “You have to enjoy that… It’s kind of about establishing that mindset throughout the regular season — if you want to be a champion, you have to win on the road.”
Boston has won 14 of its last 15 games and is peaking at the right time. Veteran Al Horford credited the team’s focus and playoff-tested mindset as reasons for their consistent dominance.
“It’s pretty special the way that we’re playing and some of the things we’re doing here,” Horford said. “We’ve been very focused.”
Heat on Fire After Midseason Slump
The Miami Heat (34-41), meanwhile, are red-hot in their own right. After a brutal 10-game losing streak in March, Erik Spoelstra’s squad has bounced back with five straight wins, each by 20+ points. They dismantled Washington 120-94 on Monday — despite missing several key players — and enter Wednesday’s matchup brimming with confidence.
Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo have been leading the charge, with Herro scoring 27 or more in four of his last five games. Though the Heat will once again be without Andrew Wiggins, Duncan Robinson, and Kevin Love, the team’s depth has stepped up impressively.
“We have a lot of guys out right now… and everybody’s just ready,” Spoelstra said. “It’s really a collective energy pouring life into each other following Tyler and Bam.”
Rookie forward Jaime Jaquez Jr., who added 14 points off the bench Monday, emphasized the Heat’s mental preparation heading into a test against the East-leading Celtics.
“That good karma should be paying off,” Jaquez Jr. said. “We’re looking forward to it.”
Familiar Foes, Same Result?
This will be the fourth meeting between Boston and Miami this season. The Celtics have won all three previous matchups, including a 108-89 rout in their only home meeting. But with Miami playing its best basketball in weeks, Wednesday’s showdown has all the makings of a statement game for both squads.
