The Hornets Can Win If…

Charlotte fell to 19-60 on the season after a 124-100 loss to the Grizzlies on Tuesday. The Hornets, who were +14.5 point underdogs, failed to cover the spread at home. The total points for the game were 224, falling short of the 230-point line.

Memphis took control early with an 11-0 run, turning a 15-6 deficit into a 17-15 lead. Charlotte couldn’t recover, as the Grizzlies outscored them 33-18 in the 1st quarter and led 97-74 going into the 4th.

Tidjane Salaün added 13 points and 9 rebounds, hitting 3 threes at 42.9% efficiency, while Josh Okogie contributed 12 points, shooting 57.1% from the field.

As a team, Charlotte shot 45.7% from the field, but connected on just 28.9% of their three-point attempts, making 11 threes in the game. Bridges scored 6 points in the 3rd quarter, while Salaün and Okogie also added 6 points each in the period.

The Hornets struggled defensively against the Grizzlies, giving up 124 points in the loss. They allowed 33 points in the 1st quarter and 34 in the 3rd, while the Grizzlies shot 45% from the field.

Charlotte also had trouble defending the three, as Memphis hit 18 threes at a 32% clip. The Hornets sent the Grizzlies to the line 26 times, where they made 22 free throws. Defensively, the Hornets recorded 3 steals and 4 blocks.

The Raptors Can Win If…

The Raptors improved to 29-50 on the season with a 120-109 win over the Nets on Sunday. Toronto, favored by 2.5 points, covered the spread with the victory. The total score of 229 points exceeded the pre-game O/U line of 216.5 by 12.5 points.

A pivotal 12-0 run by the Raptors turned a 17-17 tie into a 29-17 lead. Toronto outscored Brooklyn 33-23 in the 2nd quarter and entered the 4th quarter with an 82-72 lead. They narrowly edged the Nets 38-37 in the final period.

Jonathan Mogbo led the Raptors to a win over the Nets, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, shooting 88.9% from the field. Ochai Agbaji added 15 points, while RJ Barrett and A.J. Lawson contributed 13 each. Cole Swider and Jamison Battle also chipped in 12 points, with Orlando Robinson scoring 10 of his 11 points in the 4th quarter.

The Raptors’ defense was solid through three quarters, allowing just 23 points in both the 1st and 2nd quarters and 26 in the 3rd. However, they gave up 37 points in the 4th but still managed to secure the win. Overall, they allowed 109 points on 47% shooting from the Nets.

The Lean

In this Hornets vs. Raptors matchup, our point-spread bet is on the Hornets at +8.5. While we project the Raptors to win 102-99, our recommendation is to bet on the Hornets for the point-spread.

Right now, the over/under line for the game is sitting at 217 and given that our model is projecting 201 points between the teams, we like the under.

Toronto Looks Ahead with Confidence as Young Core Shines

The Toronto Raptors may be out of the playoff picture, but they’re finishing their season on a high note—and not just because they’re back in the win column.

As they host the Charlotte Hornets Wednesday night at Scotiabank Arena, there’s a new energy around this rebuilding squad. The Raptors (29-50) are fresh off a 120-109 road win over Brooklyn, and while the record isn’t playoff-worthy, the chemistry and culture are trending in the right direction.

“You want to see guys invested and working hard,” said head coach Darko Rajakovic. “Almost like focusing on next season.”

Rookies Fuel the Hope in Toronto

A big part of that optimism? The play of Toronto’s young guns.

Jamal Shead dished a career-high 12 assists in Sunday’s win, while fellow rookie Jonathan Mogbo matched his career bests with 17 points and 11 boards and added a personal-best 7 assists.

“These guys are very coachable and they hold each other accountable,” Rajakovic said.
“We’ve got some dogs on this team with these young guys,” added Scottie Barnes, who sat out Sunday due to a hand injury but practiced on Tuesday.

Whether Barnes suits up Wednesday will be a game-time decision.

Veteran wing RJ Barrett, who scored 13 points in the win, echoed the positive vibes:

“This year we made a step forward in what we’re building. The team morale is high, and everybody feels good about the future.”

Hornets Limp into Toronto After Emotional Loss

Things aren’t quite as upbeat in Charlotte.

The Hornets (19-60) have dropped nine of their last 10 games and are reeling after a 124-100 home loss to Memphis on Tuesday. The game took a somber turn when rookie KJ Simpson was ejected for a Flagrant 2 foul that resulted in Memphis’ Jaylen Wells suffering a broken wrist after a scary fall.

“Hard to witness something like that,” said Hornets coach Charles Lee.
“We don’t play dirty… We just hope for Wells’ recovery.”

On the court, Charlotte struggled early—committing 7 turnovers in the first quarter alone and trailing 33-18. The Hornets finished with 15 turnovers that led to 25 Memphis points.

Miles Bridges led Charlotte with 14 points, but shot just 4-for-13 from the floor.

Final Home Game and Series on the Line

Wednesday’s matchup is Toronto’s final home game of the season, and it offers a chance to sweep the home portion of the series after a 108-97 win on March 28.

The teams have split their first two meetings, but the Raptors are gunning for their sixth straight season-series win against Charlotte.
