The Colorado Avalanche won the 2021-22 Stanley Cup after knocking off the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games. Tampa Bay was attempting to win its third title in a row but could not get the job done.
Now that the 2021-22 season is over, it’s time to start looking ahead to the 2022-23 NHL season. Stanley Cup futures odds are out, and you can now start placing your best for next year.
Four Top Contenders
The Colorado Avalanche are the clear betting favorites to win the Stanley Cup. Next season as they have odds set at +400.
Colorado is expected to bring back the same core for next year. They are also going to have some serious competition.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are another contender to win the title next season. Odds are set at +800. Toronto wasn’t a factor in the playoffs, but they have enough talent to go on a big run.
The Tampa Bay Lightning (+900) and Florida Panthers (+1000) are also contenders to win the 2023 Stanley Cup. Those two teams met up in the playoffs this past season, and Tampa Bay came away with a sweep. However, Florida should be better next season.
Winning a Stanley Cup is not easy. However, these four contenders appear to be better suited than some of the other teams in the league.
Sleepers Lurking
It’s always a good idea to start looking for sleeper picks after seeing all of the odds. There are two teams that should get your attention right away. The Edmonton Oilers (+1800) and the New York Rangers (+2000) are two of those teams that should grab your attention.
Edmonton has two of the best players in the NHL, Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid. They are nearly impossible to stop. The Oilers do have a serious issue with stopping opponents, but that could be fixed this offseason.
New York was in the Eastern Conference Finals this season. They looked just as good as the Tampa Bay Lightning throughout the series. The Rangers need to find a way to get more scoring, but they have a terrific goaltender in Igor Shesterkin.
