The Minnesota Vikings enter the 2022 season with plenty of optimism, but they also enter with a huge chip on their shoulder. Minnesota is a proud NFL franchise, but they also carry the stigma of being a team that is known to underachieve.

The 2021 season for the Minnesota Vikings was a major disappointment, to say the least. Minnesota finished the year with an 8-9 record and missed out on the playoffs in a year in which the playoff field was weaker than normal.
Head coach Mike Zimmer was fired in 2021 after failing to get Minnesota to the postseason, but several players failed to deliver on both sides of the football.
Vikings Key Losses Heading Into 2022
The offensive unit for the Vikings is going to take a slight hit heading into 2022 as they lost a couple of key performers. Center Mason Cole and tight-end Tyler Conklin have both moved on, and that will hurt the depth of the offense at the very least.
The biggest loss on defense comes at the safety position as Xavier Woods signed a free agent deal with the Carolina Panthers.
2022 Minnesota Vikings Team Preview
There is no reason that the Minnesota Vikings aren’t one of the best offensive teams in the NFL this season. Kirk Cousins continues to put up huge numbers at the quarterback position, and there are a ton of position players available for this team.
The defense is going to be a question mark, but Minnesota spent some money this offseason in an attempt to improve. Missing out on the playoffs again in 2022 would be a huge disappointment for this franchise.
2022 Minnesota Vikings Schedule
The Minnesota Vikings will play every team from both the AFC and NFC East Divisions in 2022. Minnesota will also have the standard six games against NFC North opponents, and the Vikings catch a break with how weak this division is.
The final three games on the schedule for the Vikings include home games with the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals and a neutral site game against the New Orleans Saints.

At some point, the Vikings are going to start winning games with all of that talent, and 2022 feels like the perfect time for that to happen. This offense should be one of the best in the NFL, and the defense has enough pieces to show signs of improvement.
Minnesota is also going to benefit from a favorable schedule, and at least four wins should come against divisional opponents. The Vikings will be a playoff team in 2022, and they are able to get to 10 wins.
