College football teams are back at it in Week 0 of the 2022 season. A total of 11 games are on tap to warm up college football fans and bettors for the big kickoff next week.

The highlight of the week might be the Big Ten showdown in Dublin, Ireland, between Nebraska and Northwestern. The day ends with the SEC’s Vanderbilt traveling to Hawaii in a game featuring new head coaches – Clark Lea at Vanderbilt and the legend, Timmy Chang at Hawaii.

Wyoming Cowboys vs. Illinois Fighting Illini

Wyoming vs. Illinois Prediction

Neither of these two teams were all that exciting to watch last season. Illinois went 5-7 in its first season under head coach Bret Bielema. Wyoming went 6-6 winning the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl with a 52-36 win over Kent State.

The Illini were a bit more respectable against the spread going 7-4-1 ATS last season. The Cowboys were 4-7-1 ATS last year.

Both teams prefer to establish the run on offense and then attempt to play solid defense. Neither team has a big-play offense, which is why the under is the play here. The total has seen 72 percent of the money come in on the under.

Nevada vs. New Mexico State Prediction

The Aggies have a new head coach in Jerry Kill and while there is nowhere to go but up for New Mexico State, getting there is going to take time.

Nevada also has a new head coach, but the Wolf Pack is more talented. Plus, the Aggies defense was horrendous last season and might not be much better in 2022.

NMSU gave up 40.4 points per game and allowed 488.5 total yards per game. Both numbers ranked in the bottom -5 in the nation.

Nevada won’t be as high-powered as it has been in the past, but the defense only returns four starters after giving up 26.5 points a game last year. This game could turn into a shootout.

PICK: Over 50 Points

UConn Huskies vs. Utah State Aggies

UConn vs. Utah State Prediction

Utah State returns a boat load of talent including 14 starters from last year’s 11-3 team. That includes QB Logan Bonner who threw for 3,622 yards and 36 touchdowns.

The Aggies have seven returning offensive starters that will go up against one of the worst teams in the FBS. UConn won one game last year and that was a 21-15 win over FCS Yale. The Huskies allowed 38.5 points per game a year ago.

The problem is that UConn only averaged 15.6 points per game on offense. That is why this game will go under. The Under is 4-1 in Utah State’s last five non-conference games.

Duquesne Dukes vs. Florida State Seminoles

Duquesne vs. Florida State Prediction

Duquesne is a very good FCS program. Last year, they upset Ohio. Beating a Power 5 program like Florida State doesn’t seem like a reality. Scoring against the Seminoles will be extremely difficult.

The under is 4-1 in FSU’s last five games and 4-2 in the Seminoles last six games at home. The under is also 4-1 in Duquesne’s last five games overall.

Most of the scoring will come from the Seminoles, but with the Dukes being held down by what should be a good FSU defense, this game goes under.
