CFL Week 12 Odds and Predictions

Week 12 gets underway on Thursday with Winnipeg back in action after a bye. The defending Grey Cup champions suffered their first loss of the season in week 10 and they will face a tough task on Thursday – the 6-3 Calgary Stampeders.

CFL Bookies

Winnipeg maintains the CFL’s best record at 9-1. The B.C. Lions are 8-1 in the West Division, which is clearly the better of the two in the league. Toronto maintains control of first place in the East with a 4-5 record.

How will the new week play out? Here are the CFL week 12 odds and predictions.

Calgary Stampeders vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Spread: WPG -3.5 / Total: 48.5 Points

Despite a loss to Montreal in their last game, Winnipeg is still the favorite here. The Bombers have beaten Calgary twice already this season. The most recent was a 35-28 win on July 30.

Winnipeg has the league’s best defense allowing 18.2 points per game. The Bombers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games and 18-7 ATS in their last 25 at home. Winnipeg has beaten Calgary by seven points in each of the two games this season.

With the extra week of rest, Winnipeg gets back on the winning track and covers once again.

PICK: WINNIPEG -3.5

Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Toronto Argonauts

Spread: TOR -3 / Total: 48.5 Points

Hamilton lost a wild one last week to Montreal 29-28. They are now 3-7 on the season. This week, the Tiger-Cats travel to Toronto, which has lost its last two games.

Despite the losses, the Argonauts lead the East Division with a 4-5 record. Toronto beat Hamilton 34-20 in Week 9, but the very next week the Ti-Cats responded with a 34-27 win at home.

Toronto QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson played well in both games throwing for a total of 517 yards and two touchdowns. Two of the Argos three home losses this year have come by a total of four points. Hamilton has lost four games by five points or less.

This should be another competitive game which puts the over in play. The total has gone over in five of the last seven Hamilton games and five of the last seven Toronto games.

PICK: OVER 48.5

Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. BC Lions

Spread: BC -4 / Total: 46.5 Points

hqdefault

BC will play without starting quarterback Nathan Rourke. Michael O’Connor will replace him, but it shouldn’t matter. BC leads the CFL in rush defense and pass defense.

Saskatchewan may be able to catch BC in a lull after the injury to Rourke, which might keep him out for the remainder of the season. The Roughriders are 7-3 ATS in the last ten games against BC and 4-0 ATS in the last four games at BC.

PICK: SASKATCHEWAN +4

Football Predictions

Ottawa Redblacks vs. Edmonton Elks

Spread: EDM -3 / Total: 48.5 Points

Ottawa and Edmonton are two of the worst teams in the CFL this season. The Redblacks are just 1-8 on the season and lost last week 30-12 to the Elks. Ottawa’s offense is simply awful and generated just 17 rushing yards on nine carries last week. And, that was against the worst run defense in the CFL (Edmonton).

Edmonton is favored again at home, but neither of these teams can be trusted to cover. Ottawa is 9-24 ATS in its last 33 games and Edmonton is 3-14 ATS in its last 17 home games.

One thing is certain. Neither offense is very good. The under is 8-1 the last nine times the two teams have played, including last week’s game.

PICK: UNDER 48.5
