There is plenty of optimism surrounding the USMNT ahead of the World Cup. Thanks to the country’s crop of exciting young players, the Stars and Stripes are expected to make a splash in Qatar.
The bookmakers have released their odds for the top Team USA goalscorer at the tournament. Accordingly, it’s time to evaluate the prices, analyze the contenders and lock in a betting pick. Let’s get this show on the road!
Who Will Score the Most Goals for Team USA at the 2022 World Cup?
Christian Pulisic (+325)
It is no surprise that Christian Pulisic is the bookies’ favorite to finish as Team USA’s top goalscorer at the World Cup. After all, “Captain America” has scored goals at a rapid rate for his country ever since his senior debut back in 2016.
The Chelsea forward has struggled to find consistency in the Premier League this season, but he invariably shines for the Stars and Stripes. If Pulisic performs to the best of his ability in Qatar, he could fire the team into the last 16 and beyond.
Jesus Ferreira (+375)
Jesus Ferreira heads into the World Cup on the back of a stellar Major League Soccer campaign, having netted 18 goals in 33 games for FC Dallas. Only four players scored more goals than Ferreira throughout the 2022 season.
The 21-year-old has bagged seven goals in 15 appearances for the USMNT and even managed to score four goals in a single game against Grenada earlier this year. There is no reason why he can’t challenge Pulisic for the top scorer title in Qatar.
Brenden Aaronson (+800)
Despite only turning 22 last month, Brenden Aaronson already has 24 international caps to his name. On top of that, the New Jersey native has scored six goals for the Stars and Stripes.
Aaronson has enjoyed an impressive debut EPL season up to now, chipping in with a goal and two assists for Leeds United. He might not be the most prolific forward on the Team USA roster, but he has the potential to star in the coming weeks.
Josh Sargent (+900)
Like Aaronson, Josh Sargent has impressed in England this year. Having bagged nine goals in 19 outings for Championship club Norwich City, the ex-Werder Bremen forward will fancy his chances of outscoring his teammates in Qatar.
Sargent scored all five of his international goals across his first 12 appearances for the USMNT. However, he has failed to hit the target for his country since 2019. Now is the perfect time to return to scoring ways.
Tim Weah (+1200)
In all honesty, it’s difficult to predict how Tim Weah will fare at the World Cup. The Lille striker only returned from injury in October and failed to score a club goal during the first phase of the Ligue 1 season.
That said, Weah has more than enough ability to score goals in Qatar. After finding the back of the net in Team USA’s 3-0 victory over Morocco earlier this year, he will be eager to add to his tally.

Ferreira looks set to enjoy a standout World Cup campaign. Having proved that he can score goals on a consistent basis in MLS this year, the FC Dallas forward is my pick to finish Team USA’s top goalscorer in Qatar.
There is no denying Pulisic is Team USA’s main man, but the Chelsea star has not been at his best in 2022. That’s why I’m backing Ferreira to outscore Pulisic – and the rest of his team-mates – at the World Cup.
