While Sunday afternoons this time of year are usually the NFL’s time to dominate, the NBA will have a spicy match-up in the afternoon, thanks to what happened Friday night. There will be some extra heat between the New Orleans Pelicans and Phoenix Suns after Zion Williamson hit a spinning dunk in the waning seconds of a Pelicans win over Phoenix Friday night.
Here’s a look at a player prop from that game and four others for Sunday.
Zion Williamson Under 27.5 Points
The Suns nearly clobbered Williamson after the buzzer Friday night. Williamson wrapped up a win over Phoenix with a thunderous, spinning dunk with New Orleans up by double digits. Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul took exception and a fight nearly ensued as people had to step in between both sides.
Williamson, who averages 24.4 points per game this season, will receive extra attention and come in a little under 27.5 points. He had 35 points on 13-of-17 shooting Friday.
James Harden Over 22.5 Points
Harden has shown that bouncing back after an extended absence doesn’t bother the Philadelphia guard. He has played in two games since returning from injury on Dec. 5 and put up 49 points in those games. In his last performance, an overtime win over the Lakers, Harden played 47 minutes and scored 28 points.
If Harden continues to play 30-plus minutes, it’s reasonable to expect him to get over 23 points.
Trae Young Under 10.5 Assists
Young, a guard for the Atlanta Hawks, hasn’t been surrounded by the best shooters this season. The Hawks have especially struggled from the outside, only making 32.1 percent of their 3-pointers, which ranks 29th in the league. Despite this, Young is still averaging 9.5 assists per game in addition to 27.5 points per game.
However, recently, Young hasn’t had too many outstanding assists totals in games. Over the past 10 games, Young has only had more than 11 assists twice.
Jonas Valanciunas Over 13.5 Points
The Pelicans big man has had a lot of opportunities to put the ball in the basket recently. Valanciunas is averaging 13.4 points per game, but has been more aggressive recently. He has averaged 16 shot attempts from the field in the last two games.
Valanciunas has also taken double-digit shot attempts in four of the past five games. Even with a tough match-up with the Suns, Valanciunas should get just over the number.
LeBron James Over 6.5 Assists
James has seen his assist totals tick down a bit this season. However, playing the Detroit Pistons will give him plenty of chances to prop up his teammates. The Pistons are struggling to keep up as their young roster grows. James will go over this total by a few assists and getting the number at plus money can add some value.
