Styles make match-ups in every sport, but the stark contrasts in college football can vary wildly based on who the coach is at the time. Whether teams like to play fast or slow, all coaches are seeking a victory to keep the program moving forward.
Here’s a look at which teams will and won’t be putting up points this week.
Kent State Golden Flashes vs. Georgia Bulldogs
Best Bet: Over 61.5 Points
The Golden Flashes like to play at a fast tempo on offense. While that has made Kent State an annual contender in the Mid-America Conference, it could make them an easy target for No. 1 Georgia. The Bulldogs have been steamrolling their opponents so far this season.
Georgia has scored 130 points in three games and have looked like it can contend for a second straight College Football Playoff Championship. Kent State has proven it can score touchdowns against top 25 teams.
The Golden Flashes put up 20 points against Washington in a loss earlier this season. Georgia will win this handily, but Kent State will score just enough to push this total over.
TCU Horned Frogs vs. SMU Mustangs
Best Bet: Over 64.5 Points
The Battle for the Iron Skillet will have some extra juice this year. Former Mustangs coach, Sonny Dukes, will lead TCU against his former team, SMU. Dukes helped the Mustangs to two straight victories over the Horned Frogs, but now he is tasked with getting TCU back on board in the series.
While the Horned Frogs haven’t played the toughest competition so far this season, TCU is averaging 48.5 yards per game. SMU faded in the second half of a game against Maryland to lose 34-27 last week. The Mustangs are averaging 40 points per NCAAF game.
In three of the last four games in this series, the total has gone over 64.5.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers vs. Georgia State Panthers
Coastal Carolina vs. Georgia State Picks
Best Bet: Under 63.5 Points
The Panthers are off to a rough start. Georgia State is allowing 424.7 yards per game and has allowed its opponents to score 37.3 points per game.
The Panthers had a hard time getting points against South Carolina, but did put up 28 points vs. UNC and 41 against Charlotte. Coastal Carolina, meanwhile, has kept all three of its opponents under 30 points.
The Chanticleers offense should continue to roll forward, but Georgia State won’t have the offensive prowess to crack Coastal Carolina’s defense and keep up.
West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Virginia Tech Hokies
West Virginia vs. Virginia Tech Picks
Best Bet: Under 52 Points
Watching the Hokies’ offense hasn’t been a good idea for anyone who loves to see points on the scoreboard.
Virginia Tech has yet to score 30 points this season and will be ready to take on an old Big East rival desperate to grab a victory. The Mountaineers have shown improvement this season with JT Daniels at quarterback, but West Virginia hasn’t kept up in the win column.
The Mountaineers have scored 30 or more points in all three games they’ve played, but are 1-2 on the season. West Virginia did light up the scoreboard against Pitt, which is a solid opponent, but will need to show it can avoid being pulled into an ugly game that Virginia Tech prefers.
