Week 1 of the NFL season produced a number of surprising results as there were upsets throughout the league. Things typically start to even out eventually in week 2 and some of the better teams are going to find a way to get back on track.
One of the best ways to bet on the NFL is to look at team total odds and there are some intriguing options in week 2. Here are five of the best NFL week 2 team total picks to make.
Detroit Lions Over 24.5 (+100)
Commanders vs. Lions Predictions
The Detroit Lions put up 35 points in a losing effort in week 1, but that showed just how explosive this team can be. Quarterback Jared Goff is finally surrounded by some real talent and this team is going to be airing it out.
Protecting Goff is going to be tough for the Lions as they are facing a Washington team that is strong on defense. It won’t be another 30-point performance for Detroit, but they should get to 25 points at least.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Under 23.0 (-110)
Buccaneers vs. Saints Predictions
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are once again a threat to win the Super Bowl behind quarterback Tom Brady. That offense wasn’t super sharp in week 1, but it was good enough for a big win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The New Orleans Saints have given Brady and the Buccaneers some trouble in recent years and that should be the case again in week 2. Look for Tampa Bay to struggle to find the end zone as they go under 23.0 points.
Pittsburgh Steelers Under 20.5 (-115)
Patriots vs. Steelers Predictions
The Pittsburgh Steelers picked up a wild win in week 1, as they stunned the Bengals in Cincinnati, but the Steelers didn’t exactly play well on the offensive end.
Quarterback Mitch Trubisky struggled to complete passes and the Steelers simply benefitted from a number of Bengals turnovers. The Steelers will have similar struggles on offense against a Patriots team that can get stops.
Take the under 20.5 points for the Steelers in week 2.
Dallas Cowboys Over 16.5 (-110)
Bengals vs. Cowboys Predictions
The Dallas Cowboys were the only team in week 1 not to find the end zone and they also lost quarterback Dak Prescott in that game. Dallas now has low expectations, but there is still some talent on that team.
The point total is set at just 16.5 points for the Cowboys and they should be able to go over that without being dominant on the offensive end. It’s going to be a rough few weeks for the Cowboys, but they score at least 17 points in week 2.
Green Bay Packers Under 26.5 (-110)
Aaron Rodgers has made a career of dominating the Chicago Bears, and that rivalry is set to resume in week 2. Rodgers and the Packers are looking to bounce back in a big way in this game after coming up well short against the Minnesota Vikings in the season opener.
Rodgers is surrounded by young wide receivers this season and he is facing a Chicago Bears team that looks to be improved. Green Bay shouldn’t have a ton of trouble getting past Chicago, but it’s going to be a struggle.
Take the under 26.5 points for the Packers on Sunday Night Football.
