NBA Trade Deadline: Five Players That Could Be On the Move

As the NBA inches closer and closer to the NBA All-Star break, the bigger important date on the horizon is the league’s trade deadline. On February 10, NBA teams must finalize any deals and have them into the league office by 3 p.m.

A few trades have occurred already such as the Cam Reddish trade to the Knicks that also netted a second-round pick plus Solomon Hill and sent Kevin Knox and a first round pick to Atlanta. There are plenty more deals that could take place before the deadline. Here are five of the biggest names that could be on the move to a new team.

Ben Simmons Trade Rumors

Philadelphia has been looking to dump Simmons since last offseason. The 6-10 Simmons is a point guard in a big man’s body, but he is no threat to shoot from long-range. As a result, he simply doesn’t fit in the Sixers offense. He is an outstanding defender though which is why he is likely to find a home elsewhere.

The big issue for Philly is simply the asking price. The Sixers would like an All-Star caliber player plus multiple first-round draft picks. It’s a steep ask, but there are a few teams that have expressed some interest. The Lakers, Knicks, and Cavaliers are all reported to have some interest.

Jerami Grant Trade Rumors

Grant isn’t a household name, but if you’re a fan of the NBA you know that a number of teams are looking to add the Pistons top scorer. Last season, Grant averaged over 22 points a game and finished second to Julius Randle in the NBA Most Improved Player voting.

So far this season, Grant is averaging 20.1 points and 4.8 rebounds a game. He has not played since Dec. 10 due to a thumb injury. Utah, which is fourth in the West, is looking to add a big forward that can score but also play solid defense. The addition of Grant would help the Jazz make a push toward an NBA title.

Domantas Sabonis Trade Rumors

Since Christmas, the Indiana Pacers have won three games. This season is a bust and, at 17-30, the Pacers are likely to start a massive roster overhaul. There has been talk of Caris LeVert, Myles Turner, and Sabonis all being on the trading block. Of the three, Sabonis is the likeliest to go.

The 6-11 forward is a two-time NBA All-Star and is unique in his abilities as a scorer, passer, rebounder, three-point shooter, and shot blocker. Sabonis is an all-around talent that will instant credibility to a playoff-bound team.

The Phoenix Suns are actually showing interest in Sabonis as are the Toronto Raptors. If the Raptors hold onto Pascal Siakam, the addition of Sabonis would be a huge move and could propel Toronto into the top five or six teams in the East.

De’Aaron Fox Trade Rumors

Sacramento is looking to move a couple players like Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield, but the big move would involve point guard and leading scorer Fox. The 6-3 former first round pick averages 21 points and 5.2 assists per game.

One rumor has Fox going to Philadelphia as a part of a deal that involves Simmons. Fox would be that true point guard that can shoot the Sixers have been looking for. Boston is also said to have expressed interesting in Fox.

John Collins Trade Rumors

The Hawks have said they would listen to any deal involving any of their players except Trae Young and Clint Capela. That makes the 6-10 Collins an intriguing prospect. Atlanta did not offer Collins the rookie maximum extension after last season, which leads many to believe that the Hawks will part with him.

Collins averages 17.3 points and 7.8 rebounds and can double as a small-ball center. That’s why Dallas could be a potential landing spot. Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis, and Collins would make for an effective trio as the Mavericks head to the postseason.
