Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

Cincinnat vs. Araksnas Preview

Cincinnati loses starting quarterback Desmond Ridder and two of the best cornerbacks in the country in Sauce Gardner and Coby Bryant. While many are eyeing a dropoff for the Bearcats in 2022, Cincy’s opponents should beware.

The Bearcats entire offensive line returns. QB Ben Bryant transferred back to Cincy to take over the offense. The defense, which was top-20 in Defensive Success Rate last year, will reload.

Arkansas ran the ball 63 percent of the time last season and relied on WR Treylon Burks in the passing game. He’s gone as are the Razorbacks top five pass catchers from last year. Cincy will catch Arkansas off guard and keep this one close.

PICK: CINCINNATI +6.5

Boise State Broncos vs. Oregon State Beavers

Boise State vs. Oregon State Preview

Oregon State is favored for one reason – it’s playing at home. The Beavers defense was atrocious in 2021. Opponents averaged nearly six yards per play against the Beavers.

Boise State returns starting quarterback Hank Bachmaier and RB George Holani. Under head coach Andy Avalos, a brilliant defensive mind, the Broncos were among the top 30 defenses in the country last year. Nine defensive starters return.

Don’t be surprised if Boise State pulls the road upset.

PICK: BOISE STATE +2.5

Illinois Fighting Illini vs. Indiana Hoosiers

Illinois vs. Indiana Preview

Illinois started its season with a win over Wyoming in Week 0. That win could be bad news for the Illini. Here’s why.

Teams making their debut against a team that played in Week 0 cover the spread at roughly a 55 percent clip. That rate is even higher when the opponents are members of the same conference.

Teams making their debut against a conference opponent that played in Week 0 are 13-3 ATS covering by a touchdown (6.97). The Hoosiers have won the last three straight over Illinois.

PICK: INDIANA -2

South Dakota State Jackrabbits vs. Iowa Hawkyes

South Dakota State vs. Iowa Preview

Hold on. This one could get interesting. South Dakota State enters the 2022 season as the No. 2-ranked FCS program in the country. The Jackrabbits are ranked one spot below North Dakota State, which beat Iowa back in 2016.

South Dakota State beat FBS Colorado State last season. Iowa returns 16 starters, eight each on offense and defense. The Hawkeyes rely on running the football and playing good defense. The pace of this game might not allow them to gain a two-touchdown-plus lead.

PICK: SOUTH DAKOTA STATE +16.5
