Best Bet for Thursday Night Football: Falcons vs. Panthers

The Atlanta Falcons could be the most cursed team in the NFL this season. Nothing has gone their way all year. This bad luck combined with the firing of Dan Quinn and average talent hasn’t been a winning formula in 2020.

The Carolina Panthers, on the other hand, are figuring out their identity. They lost Christian McCaffrey back in Week 2 to a high ankle sprain and are still without the All-Pro. They’re 3-4 on the year but are competing with some of the best teams in football.

This will be the second meeting of the season between these two division foes. Carolina won the first game three weeks ago, 23-16.

It’s no secret that this isn’t a huge Thursday night matchup. But it still gives fans a chance to bet and win big on the action.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers Predictions

Here’s my two-team parlay on TNF – Panthers vs Falcons

Parlays can be risky because you need multiple outcomes to occur to win. Despite this fact, a high-risk bet will yield a greater return if it hits. I’m a huge fan of same game parlays because it gives bettors a higher parlay success rate.

My parlay pick this week is taking the Panthers at -2 after buying a half point and over 49 points. The Panthers at -2 points is -120, and the over at 49 points is -110. With these odds, a $100 parlay bet would win $240.

Let’s break down the parlay.

Bet the Carolina Panthers ATS (-2)

The Panthers are 4-3 ATS this season. This is a solid record for bettors, and it’s way better than the Falcons ATS record of 2-5 in 2020. Buying a half-point also allows us to push if this game is really close. This gives me even more confidence to place this bet.

The Panthers won by seven against the Falcons in their first meeting this season. The Panthers have won by a minimum of five in their three victories this season.

They’ve also taken the Saints, Bears, and Buccaneers down to the wire. This is a really good three-win football team, and they’ve improved since their last meeting with Atlanta. I can’t say the same for the Falcons.

Bet Under 49 Points in ATL-CAR

Atlanta and Carolina are pretty much 50/50 with over/under results this season. This is a toss-up, but I love the under on Thursday night.

With Christian McCaffery still questionable to return, the Carolina offense isn’t as dynamic. Teddy Bridgewater has carried the load since Week 2, but they don’t score a lot of points. In fact, the Falcons average three more points per game than the Panthers at 26.3.

Atlanta gives up 30 points per game, but I haven’t seen enough out of Carolina’s offense to be confident that it will light up the scoreboard. On top of this, the Panthers have the 13th-ranked scoring defense in the NFL. I think Atlanta will have trouble moving the ball this time around against the Panthers.

Todd Gurley II had a huge game three weeks ago against Carolina, but you know the Panthers will be keying on him all night long. This will put the pressure on Matt Ryan to perform, but Carolina is in the top 10 in the league in defending the pass. This is why I’m loving the under on primetime this week.

This parlay is a great risk bet to yield a big return on Thursday night. Good luck!

What is Buying Points? Buying points is exactly what it sounds like. You buy points off a spread or the total moving the line in your favor (½ point at a time). However, for every ½ point you buy, the odds get worse and the amount you need to risk increases proportionately. How to Buy Points.

What is a Parlay Bet? A sports betting parlay is sometimes referred to as an ‘exotic bet’ since it falls out of the realm of those traditional straight bets, but what it really is in its most basic form is a grouping of more than one straight bet into a single betting ticket. More about Parlays.
