NBA Player Props to Check Out Before the Restart

The NBA restart is drawing nearer. Players will begin reporting to Orlando in early July with play to resume on July 31st. As the resumption of the 2019-20 season gets closer, it is time to check out the NBA player props board. There are several wagers worth consideration.

What to Avoid

Like the TV show “Don’t,” it is best advised to stay away from some bets. Utah Jazz C Rudy Gobert was the league’s first player to test positive for the coronavirus. You can bet on whether or not Gobert will test positive for the virus again while in Orlando. A positive test is given +550 odds with the negative at -1200.

I’m no scientist, but if you have had the virus once you have developed antibodies. I’m not a doctor either – though I may have played one on TV – but if you have the antibodies, you aren’t getting the virus again. Don’t fall for that one.

Bettors also will not be betting on Kyrie Irving.

Betting on Irving to score over 29.5 points per game at -115 is moot since Irving isn’t going to play another game this season. He underwent shoulder surgery and now he is talking about not going to Orlando anyway because of the civil unrest in the U.S.

Simmons Jacks a 3

Ben Simmons was 0-for-17 on 3-point attempts in two NBA seasons before finally hitting one at the beginning of this season. Now, you can get some NBA betting action in at +160 that Simmons will hit at least one playoff 3-pointer.

Simmons will be completely healthy, as will teammate Joel Embiid, when Philadelphia heads to Orlando searching for an NBA title. The Sixers are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference and would draw No. 3 Boston in the playoffs unless they can overtake No. 5 Indiana. The Sixers went 3-1 against Boston this season.

Philadelphia is going to play at least 12 games – eight regular season plus at least four in a playoff series. Surely Simmons can hit one measly 3-pointer.

Luka Rebounds

If not for James Harden’s 34 points-plus per game and LeBron James resurgence, Dallas star Luka Doncic would be the frontrunner for the league’s MVP. For the season, he is averaging 28.7 points, 8.7 assists, and 9.3 rebounds per game.

Dallas is seventh in the Western Conference, seven games ahead of Memphis and just 1.5 games behind Houston and Oklahoma City. Doncic will continue his outstanding play as he and the Mavericks seek to pull at least a first-round upset in the playoffs.

The value bet on Doncic is on the Over 9.5 rebounds per playoff game. Remember, for the season his average stands at 9.3. A measly 0.2 more rebounds per game for the one of the brightest young stars in the NBA all for the bargain price of +105.

Will King James Dish?

Speaking of James, he is averaging a career-high and NBA-best 10.6 assists per game. It’s one of the reasons why he is being considered for the league MVP. Can he continue dishing out 10-plus assists every night?

It’s sure possible, but James has never averaged 10 assists a game in his entire career. Now, at 35 years of age having been off for three-plus months, James is simply going to step back on the court and dish out 10 assists per game.

James may be a little rusty at this point, plus the age factor makes a bet on his assist number worth taking. James at Under 10 assists per game is given +100 odds. While James might surely average 7.0, 8.0, or even 9.0 assists per game; you can make some bank when he doesn’t average over 10.

Paul George Lacks Spark

Paul George is a six-time All-Star who has proved his value in the NBA, now we need to find value at online sportsbooks. He missed the first part of this season after undergoing shoulder surgery last summer. He has played in just 42 games this year and his numbers across the board are down.

George is averaging 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game for the Clippers. After being off for three months, can George find a rhythm and score over 20.5 points per game?

Like James and many players in the league, George is going to be rusty. It’s going to take a while for him to find his groove. With superstar Kawhi Leonard playing next to him, George may not need to provide a spark to the Clippers. That’s why it makes sense to get in on George to score Under 20.5 points per game at +100 odds.
