It’s time for the PGA tournament once known as the Crosby Clambake! The nickname is due to famed entertainer Bing Crosby hosting it for so many years. Bing may be gone but the pro- celebrity event remains and is back to near-regular strength following a trimmed down version last year due to Covid.
Patrick Cantlay and Daniel Berger come in as the favorites this week. Cantlay enters as the lone favorite at +700 with Berger behind him at +1200. And yes, actor and comedian Bill Murray is returning to the field this year. Look for the list of some of the celebrities below after the complete odds list.
Last year Berger won the event as he went -18under and 2 strokes over Maverick McNealy. Two years ago it was Phil Mickelson grabbing the win for his 5th Pebble Beach victory. This year Berger is again one of the favorites as he comes in at +1200 heading into the opening round. Mickelson is not in the field.
So, how does the format work? Think of it this way. The Pebble Beach Pro-Am is two tournaments in one. There are 156 pros paired with 156 amateurs who are often celebrities. The 156 pairs are then grouped into 39 foursomes who play then play one round on three of the courses over three days.
The courses are Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club. The cutline comes after day three when the field is trimmed down for the final round which is played on Pebble Beach Golf Links. The pros play to win on the PGA Tour and both the pros and amateurs play to win the paired event.
Here are the favorites through +2000 to win the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am outright.
Patrick Cantlay +700
Daniel Berger +1200
Will Zalatoris +1600

Players can expect normal Pebble Beach conditions which means a good amount of ocean breeze on many holes. Targeted golf is the name of the game so second shots will rely heavily on great shots off the tee. Look for strokes being made up for at Monterey Peninsula as some low scores should come from there.
Players will face just about every type of hazard and rough possible between the three courses. But, both courses still have plenty of opportunities for shaving strokes. This tournament has not ended in a playoff since 2008 and has only done so twice since 1992.
2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Predictions
Daniel Berger +1200
Daniel Berger has four wins on the PGA Tour including this event last season. He also finished T5 at Pebble Beach in 2020. Berger was T5 at the Tournament of Champions and finished T20 at the Farmers last week. He also has the Ryder Cup win and a T7 at the Hero World Challenge. All of this puts him at No. 16 on the OWGR list.
Jordan Spieth +2000
Jordan Spieth seemed to get the monkey off his back with his win at the Texas Open last season. Since then he’s finished solo 2nd twice, added a Ryder Cup win, and banked 10 top-20 finishes. He’s not missed the cut at Pebble Beach in his last nine visits. This is a great place for him to bounce back from a rough outing at the Farmers.
Cameron Tringale +2800
Cameron Tringale Looked impressive at the Farmers Insurance Open finishing T3 behind Luke List and Will Zalatoris. He’s been off and on over his last five tournaments going T3, CUT, T7, CUT, T2 respectively. But he’s now 7th in FedEx Cup and ranked No. 40 on the OWGR.
Others: Last week Will Zalatoris (+1600) came close last week at the American Express but lost in a playoff to Luke List. A great opportunity to follow up on a great effort. Maverick McNealy (+2800) plays well here with a runner-up finish last year and a T5 in 2020.
