The Winnipeg Blue Bombers continue to have a firm grip on the Grey Cup favorite odds. The Blue Bombers are 7-0, but they will face another tough task as they battle 4-1 Calgary for the second time this season.
While Winnipeg leads the West, the East is still up for grabs. Montreal (2-4) takes on Hamilton (1-5) and Ottawa, which hasn’t won is six games, takes on Toronto (3-2).
Here are the 2022 CFL Week 8 odds and predictions.
Montreal Alouettes vs. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Spread: HAM -3 / Total: 49.5 Points
Even with losing records, both of these teams are still playoff contenders because the East Division is so bad. Montreal’s defense is awful and allows 28.2 points per game. However, the Alouettes offense is No. 3 in the CFL in scoring averaging 29 points per game.
Hamilton QB Dane Evans has thrown for 1,720 yards so far, which is second in the CFL. Hamilton is just 1-6 ATS in its last seven games and 1-4 ATS in its last five at home. The Tiger-Cats have won 18 of their last 23 at home, however.
One thing has been consistent though. The Over is 4-1 in Hamilton’s last five games and the Over has hit in five of Montreal’s last six. Play it again in this one.
PICK: OVER 49.5
BC Lions vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders
Spread: BC -130 / Total: 49 Points
The big news in Saskatchewan is that starting QB Cody Fajardo will not play. BC is coming off a 17-12 win over Hamilton. Lions QB Nathan Rourke had an off day but still went 22-for-30 for 250 yards. Rourke is completing 78.8 percent of his passes this season and he’s the primary reason why BC gets the edge in this one.
The Lions are 4-2 ATS in their last six games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight on the road. BC is 4-1 SU in its last five games with the only loss coming to CFL leader Winnipeg. The Roughriders have lost two straight and will be without their starting quarterback.
PICK: BC LIONS -1.5
Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Calgary Stampeders
Spread: CAL -1 / Total: 46.5 Points
For the first time all season, the Blue Bombers are an underdog. They will play at Calgary on Saturday. The Stampeders are 4-1 with their only loss coming to Winnipeg on July 15.
Calgary is unbeaten in two games at home. Winnipeg is unbeaten in five games on the road this season. In their six games thus far, Winnipeg is 5-1 ATS.
Calgary is 18-3 in its last 21 games at home against the Blue Bombers and the Stampeders had last week off to prepare. Winnipeg beat Edmonton 24-10 last week, but QB Zach Collaros had his worst game of the season going 7-of-16 for 188 yards.
This is the perfect spot for Calgary to knock off the CFL’s last unbeaten.
PICK: CALGARY -1
Ottawa Redblacks vs. Toronto Argonauts
Spread: TOR -220 / Total: 47.5 Points
The CFL’s worst defense is in Ottawa. The Redblacks will have a difficult time with Toronto QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson. He has the CFL’s second-best completion percentage.
The Argonauts have won their last two games in a row and they have won 10 of their last 13 games at home.
Ottawa has yet to win this season and starting QB Jeremiah Masoli remains out. He is likely done for the season. Ottawa allows over 390 total yards and 27.5 points per game. Toronto has beaten Ottawa in five straight games and they are 4-1 ATS in those games.
PICK: TORONTO -5
