On Saturday, February 22, boxing fans will be treated to an exciting matchup as Carlos Adames (24-1, 18 KOs) defends his WBC middleweight championship against a rising star of the division Hamzah Sheeraz (21-0, 17 KOs).

This world title fight is one of six championship bouts on the undercard of the thrilling rematch between Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol. The event takes place live from the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Also on this card are world champs Daniel Dubois defending his IBF heavyweight belt against Joseph Parker and the braggadocious Shakur Stevenson who will defend his WBC lightweight title against a late-replacement fighter.

For Adames, this will be his second title fight for the WBC middleweight belt. He was the interim champ prior to last year’s bout against Terrell Gausha when the WBC elevated him to full champ.

Sheeraz laid waste to three opponents last year and rides into this weekend’s world title bout with an impressive 15-fight knockout streak. The ring walk time for Sheeraz and Adames is expected to take place at 2:35pm ET.

Let’s take a look at the latest Carlos Adames vs. Hamzah Sheeraz odds, courtesy of the top sports betting sites, and make our Carlos Adames vs. Hamzah Sheeraz predictions.

Carlos Adames Recent Fights

Carlos Adames has won six fights in a row, which includes picking up the WBC interim middleweight championship in October 2022, after defeating Juan Macias Montiel via 3rd round KO.

He followed that up with two successful interim title defenses. Adames beat Juliam Williams via 9th round TKO in June 2023, and then defeated Terrell Gausha via unanimous decision in June 2024.

That last fight saw Adames elevated to the full middleweight champion of the WBC a month prior. The interim label had been removed after Jermall Charlo was stripped of the title due to inactivity via legal troubles.

His lone professional loss came against Patrick Teixeira in November 2019. Adames lost the fight via unanimous decision and failed to capture the WBO interim super welterweight title. Two years later, he would move up to the middleweight division.

Despite a lackluster resume, and an apparent void of skills compared to his opponent, Adames does not lack for confidence. In fact, he believes that he will win after decapitating Sheeraz:

“Since before they even called me, I thought he was going to be my next victim. And I feel like they feel like they think that they can beat me, they can’t. I am the best current 160 [fighter]. I only have to decapitate him.”

Carlos Adames Odds

Adames opened this fight as a +166 underdog and now sits at a range of +200 to +235. This is the first time that he has been an underdog in four years. You have to go back to his bout against Sergiy Derevyanchenko where Adames closed at +240 to +360 odds.

Following that bout, he closed as high as a -700 favorite over Montiel, -600 favorite over Williams, and a -1400 favorite over Gausha last year. In fact, most of his pro bouts have seen him as the betting favorite.

Hamzah Sheeraz Recent Fights

As mentioned above, Sheeraz has won 15 consecutive fights via knockout. He has fought seven times in the last three years, making quick work of most of the competition.

In 2022, he beat Jex Smith via 2nd round KO, Francisco Emanual Torres via 5th round TKO, and River Wilson-Bent via 2nd round TKO. Along the way, he picked up a few regional titles as well.

Sheeraz only fought once in 2023, but he crushed Dmytro Mytrofanov via 2nd round TKO. It took him a total of 3:35 to end that fight.

2024 started off with a bang as Sheeraz crushed Liam Williams via 1st round TKO. Williams’ corner pleaded with the ref to stope the fight after their competitor had already been knocked down twice.

In June of last year, Sheeraz would face his toughest opponent to date when he took on the unbeaten Austin Williams in the very same venue that he will be fighting Adames at this weekend. Sheeraz defeated Williams via 11th round TKO.

In his last bout, September 2024, he crushed Tyler Denny via 2nd round TKO. Following this bout, Sheeraz had a collection of secondary titles that included the WBC silver middleweight, EBU European middleweight, and Commonwealth Boxing Council middleweight.

In other words, it was time for Sheeraz to get a world title fight and Adames was happy to oblige. Speaking about his opponent, he praised Adames’ strengths and being a world champ. However, Sheeraz believes that he will stop him:

“I truly believe I can stop him. I’m not going to go looking for it, because I never do, but I think if i do what we’ve been doing in camp, if I stick that ramrod jab and just keep it going, I can inflict some serious damage. But then again, if we’ve got to get messy, then we’ll get messy, just like I did in the Ammo Williams fight. If I have to stand there, take a few to give a few, it’s not ideal but it is what it is. Boxing, you can’t swim without getting wet.”

Hamzah Sheeraz Odds

Sheeraz opened as a -205 favorite and currently sits with odds ranging from -250 to -300. In the documented fights with betting odds, Sheeraz has been a favorite for all of them.

In his three fights throughout 2024, Sheerz saw his odds range from -220 to -1200. The closest line was against Austin Williams in June, where he closed at -230 odds. Prior to that, his next smallest line came in August 2023, when he closed at -400 to -550 odds against Mytrofanov.

Carlos Adames vs. Hamzah Sheeraz Predictions

Since Sheeraz has moved to middleweight, he’s won all seven of his fights within the division via knockout. Nevertheless, Adames will be a live dog in this fight. He has the power and ruggedness to muck things up and stop Sheeraz if the British fighter makes any major mistakes.

Sheeraz is fantastic at controlling distance with his jab and setting up his power shots. This will pose problems for Adams to get inside and do some damage.

With that said, Sheeraz proved to his doubters that he can go to war with an opponent and get into a physical, close-quarters battle. He did that last year against Austin Williams and won via knockout in the 11th round.

I’m not saying this is going to be a cakewalk for Sheeraz, but Adames is the weakest of the world champions in this weight class. His weaknesses should suit Sheeraz very well. The Brit has a four-inch height and two-inch reach advantage. I expect both to come into play this weekend.

Sheeraz will use his size and length to control the distance and pick apart Adames. I like for the Brit to pick up his first world title.

Bet: Hamzah Sheeraz (-255)

The Best Carlos Adames vs. Hamzah Sheeraz Prop Bets

The following Carlos Adames vs. Hamzah Sheeraz prop bets are courtesy of BetUS:

Over/Under 10.5 rounds

  • Over 10.5 (-115)
  • Under 10.5 (-115)

As you can see with these odds, this fight is a toss-up to go Over 10.5 rounds. Honestly, it’s a coin flip. Either we see it go Over and the full distance or we see one of the two fighters pick up a knockout victory.

I haven’t seen a fight where Adames has impressed me. I like what I saw from Sheeraz against Williams, but he also has his weaknesses as well.

So, I think the winner of this bout is going to do so via making a statement. I’m taking the Under.

Bet: Under 10.5 rounds

Will Fight go the distance?

  • Yes (+120)
  • No (-165)

Although this bout has the potential to go the full 12 rounds, I’m going to say it ends inside the distance. These two men have combined for 35 knockouts in 46 pro fights. I think we get some fireworks in this matchup since both men want to climb up the ranks in the division.

Bet: No (-165)

Method of Victory

  • Adames via TKO/KO/DQ (+400)
  • Adames via decision (+700)
  • Sheeraz via TKO/KO/DQ (+120)
  • Sheeraz via decision (+220)
  • Draw (+1600)

As mentioned, I’m taking this bout to end inside the distance which means we see a knockout. And, since I am taking a small wager on Sheeraz to win this fight, I will go with the betting option of Sheeraz winning via TKO/KO for this boxing prop bet.

Sheeraz will extend his knockout streak to 16 in a row and hand Adames his first stoppage defeat. The Brit is the toughest opponent that Adames has faced in a long time, possibly ever.

Bet: Sheeraz via TKO/KO/DQ (+120)

Betting on Rounds

  • Either Winner in rounds 1-4 (+700)
  • Either Winner in rounds 5-8 (+275)
  • Either Winner in rounds 9-12 (+300)
  • Fight To Go The Distance (+120)

I think we go well beyond the halfway point in this fight. It’s going to take some time before we get the stoppage due to each man’s durability. With that said, I like for this bout to end in rounds 9-12 via knockout.

Although I am picking Sheeraz to get the KO win, Adames can also end this fight in the same rounds if his opponent makes any big mistakes.

Bet: Either Winner in rounds 9-12 (+300)

What’s Next For The Adames vs. Sheeraz Winner?

The winner of this fight will most likely move on to challenge another champion within the division. Janibek Alimkhanuly holds the WBC and WBO middleweight titles. Yes, it’s a variation of the WBC middleweight belt as that organization loves its titles.

Erizlandy Lara is the WBA middleweight champ. And, the 41-year-old could be the next man in line for the winner of Adames vs. Sheeraz. He might be easier than Alimkhanuly is at this point. Speaking of the latter, he’s spoken out against Sheeraz choosing Adames over him.

Critics have jumped all over Sheeraz’s team for their choice of Adames over other champs in the division. They believe that his management team is avoiding other fighters that could expose the Brit.

This might be true, but there’s nothing wrong with carefully bringing along a 25-year-old fighter. If Sheeraz wins in convincing fashion this weekend, then he will be at the level of taking on one of the other champs. Build up his resume, confidence and skills are a good thing by Sheeraz’s team, not a bad thing.
