2024 AEW Grand Slam Odds, Predictions and Full Card

It’s that time of the year again, when AEW holds its two-part Grand Slam event spanning both of the promotion’s top television shows. Like in previous years, this event will take place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York.

The first part of AEW Grand Slam airs live on Dynamite this Wednesday, September 25. The second part will air on Collision, Saturday, September 28. However, the Collision episode will be tape delayed.

As usual, AEW will continue booking matches all the way up to the start of Grand Slam. This means that the top sports betting sites will be playing catch up and might not have all the odds out by time the event airs.

Currently, there are over a half dozen matches confirmed for the two-part wrestling event. The featured bout is Jon Moxley versus Darby Allin for the latter’s world title opportunity.

As of this writing, there are three official championship matches and one outlaw title match in the form of the FTW Championship.

Let’s take a look at the latest AEW Grand Slam card and make our AEW Grand Slam Predictions.

AEW Grand Slam Dynamite Predictions

The following AEW predictions are for the confirmed Grand Slam matches on Dynamite. At this time of writing, not all matches have available odds:

AEW World Trios Championship Match

  • TBD (NA)
  • (c)Pac & The BCC (NA)

As of this writing, it’s unclear as to who the AEW Trios Champs (Pac & The BCC) will be facing at Grand Slam. And, honestly, it doesn’t really matter.

This match is all about fueling the Wheeler Yuta angle where he’s distraught over what The BCC did to Bryan Danielson at the All Out PPV earlier this month.

If you missed it, Bryan Danielson made his first AEW world title defense at All Out against Jack Perry. As predicted, Danielson defeated Perry and retained his title. However, what happened after the match still has the AEW universe buzzing. And, even the die-hard WWE fans were buzzing over it as well.

The BCC came out to support Danielson and celebrate with him over the victory. Or, so we thought. Instead, they attacked him and Moxley suffocated Danielson with a plastic bag. It was a brutal image to see, but one that has definitely given AEW storylines some much needed juice.

Following that attack, which Yuta did not participate in but was held back instead, the young apprentice has been an emotional wreck and mentally distracted. He’s made a few appearances on AEW programming and is a shell of himself.

Now, it all comes to a head at Grand Slam. Will Yuta actually participate in the match alongside his teammates Pac and Claudio or will Wheeler be a third wheel and eventually get axed from the group?

I think we get Yuta falling in line despite being overly conflicted. They will successfully defend the Trios Titles regardless of who AEW books against them.

The real story to watch is how Yuta fits into all of this and then what happens when he sees Danielson again. Right now, it’s unclear if Bryan Danielson will wrestle Nigel McGuinness at Grand Slam. If he does, and I believe he will, then the interactions between Danielson and the rest of The BCC will be the main attraction for the entire two-part Grand Slam event.

Bet: Pac and The BCC

AEW Women’s Title Match

  • (c)Mariah May (NA)
  • Yuka Sakazaki (NA)

It might not be as top billing as her feud with Toni Storm, but Mariah May vs. Yuka Sakazaki has plenty to be entertained by. In fact, this match could catapult May into her next big feud.

Since returning from injury on the September 14 episode of Collision, Sakazaki has made May’s life more difficult. This harassment has eventually led to a match between the two at Grand Slam.

May had defeated Nyla Rose a few weeks ago and then prevented Queen Aminata from getting a title shot. Following that, she also blasted Yuka with the title belt in a tag-team match to get disqualified. And, if that wasn’t enough, May has also attacked Sakazaki after her matches.

May went as far as to make the following declaration to Sakazaki after the title match was made official:

“Give me your very best, so I can make you feel your absolute worst. Then we’ll see how happy you really are.”

Another layer to this match is that Mariah May has been publicly calling for her friend Mina Shirakawa to return to AEW and celebrate with her. Apparently, May needs her longtime friend and former tag-team partner in order to officially celebrate her title win.

Shirakawa said she would be there for May and will most likely be in attendance at Grand Slam. This could go one of two ways: we have Shirakawa become a heel and help May keep the title or we have another feud between friends turned enemies.

I prefer to see Shirakawa and May stick together. Although, another swerve by May down the line would be entertaining as well.

As for this Grand Slam match, May will win and retain the title.

Bet: Mariah May (NA)

AEW World Tag Team Title Match

  • (c)The Young Bucks (NA)
  • Kyle Fletcher and Will Ospreay (NA)

On the September 11 episode of Dynamite, Kyle Fletcher and Will Ospreay teamed up to participate in a Tag-Team Casino Gauntlet match. Eight teams participated in what turned out to be a great television bout. Eventually, Fletcher and Ospreay won the match and earned a tag-team title opportunity at Grand Slam.

For those that don’t know, Fletcher and Ospreay have been part of a group since 2019, when they formed the United Empire along with Mark Davis. The latter has been out injured, which has allowed Fletcher to have a solo run instead of being part of the Aussie Open tag team.

The Young Bucks have been world champs since winning the titles in April at the Dynasty PPV. And, as I’ve said before, this title reign has been absolutely boring. The Young Bucks don’t need the tag belts to further their EVP storyline or The Elite faction. And, yet, AEW continues to make us endure this stale title reign.

Regardless of the outcome in this match, these two teams should steal the show. However, Fletcher believes that he and Ospreay will win the titles at Grand Slam:

“Yeah, I definitely respect what they’ve done and what they’ve accomplished. They’re brothers, obviously they have that connection going on, but I consider Will Ospreay to be my brother. I know him like the back of my hand, he knows me like the back of his hand. I think we have a pretty good chance to take those belts off of them, so I can’t wait for it. I think it’s gonna be a crazy clash for sure.”

Will AEW actually have Ospreay lose another title match? He’s already dropped title bouts to Swerve Strickland and MJF over the summer. I think it’s shoddy booking if they have Ospreay lose again, even if it’s Fletcher taking the pin-fall.

The only way they should lose the bout is if Davis makes a surprise appearance and turns on Fletcher and Ospreay. Otherwise, Ospreay should become a double champ as he heads into his big match against Ricochet for the International Title in a few weeks.

The safe bet is on The Young Bucks to retain the titles because Tony Kahn wants to drive me crazy with this lame title run.

However, if you want to walk on the wild side then join me in taking a flier on Ospreay to become champ-champ.

Bet: The Young Bucks (-3000)

AEW Grudge Match

  • (c)Bryan Danielson (NA)
  • Nigel McGuinness (NA)

The All In PPV was memorable for numerous moments and matches. In fact, two of the biggest All In moments included both of these men.

In the main event, Bryan Danielson defeated Swerve Strickland for the AEW World title. Danielson put his career on the line for this match and even had his family sitting ringside.

After 13 years of being retired from the ring, Nigel McGuinness returned at All In and wrestled in front of his fellow countrymen. It was a thrilling moment for McGuinness and wrestling fans alike. McGuinness commented on that surreal moment:

“It was incredible. It was a surreal moment. The whole world seems like a different universe than it was before. When those things happen in your life, it just changes your entire perspective. I had no idea what reaction I would get, if I’d be remembered, and by how many people. When I came out, I felt a sense of euphoria and a wave of emotion as the crowd realized what was about to take place. I got swept up in it. If I had any nerves or anxiety beforehand, they were blown away once I get that reaction. They were with me for the journey. It changed my life forever.”

And, yet, that moment was just a stepping stone to the ultimate goal of McGuinness actually being able to wrestle Danielson one more time. These two men have had a long-standing rivalry, albeit most of it has been verbal since McGuinness wasn’t an active wrestler anymore.

Nevertheless, McGuinness has constantly kept his feud going with Danielson every time the Brit was on the commentary team for Collision.

I won’t take the time to recap this historic rivalry. Just do your best to find videos of their matches in ROH some 16 years ago, like the video above. They’re well worth the time and stand the test of time. The two stars were the best in ROH at the time and they waged war against each other. The rivalry etched their names in ROH history and it’s absolutely exciting to see them wrestle one more time.

With that said, the storyline surrounding Danielson is that this match will only happen at Grand Slam if he’s medically cleared to wrestle. As of now, there’s no word on his clearance.

If they do wrestle, and I believe they will, look for Danielson to pick up the victory or get attacked again by Moxley and The BCC. This match won’t be as great as their bouts from back in the day, but the nostalgia and creative storytelling will make it a must watch encounter.

Bet: Bryan Danielson (NA)

AEW World Championship Opportunity Match

  • Jon Moxley (NA)
  • Darby Allin (NA)

After the All In PPV, which Jon Moxley wasn’t a part of, Mox appeared on Dynamite without his beloved “Wild Thing” entrance music. And, he was donning a new look that was rumored to inspired by a cult classic film.

Moxley also had a new attitude and cryptic messages that stirred up buzz within the AEW Universe. Yet, that was nothing compared to what he did to Danielson at the All Out PPV. His attack on his former stablemate and friend led to a seismic shift within the promotion.

It also gave Moxley a solid storyline moving forward that could play out over the next four to six months. After Pac and Claudio joined Mox and Marina Shafir, fans have been speculating as to who else will join this faction. Right now, it’s unclear if AEW is going to add anyone else. Yet, that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill and fantasy bookers.

As for Darby Allin, AEW’s beloved underdog has a massive challenge at Grand Slam. He will not only wrestle one of the promotion’s top stars, but he’ll also probably have to fight off Shafir and other members of Mox’s group.

If AEW was smart, they would have Moxley and company do the same plastic bag brutal attack on Allin. This would prompt Danielson to come out and make the save. Then, we could see Danielson and Allin team up to face Moxley and Pac or Claudio at the WrestleDream PPV in Washington. Keep in mind, both Allin and Danielson are from that state.

As for this Grand Slam match, take Moxley to win either by cheating or pure brutality.

Bet: Jon Moxley (-2000)

AEW Grand Slam Collision Predictions

The following AEW predictions are for the confirmed Grand Slam matches on Collision. At this time of writing, not all matches have available odds:

Saraya Rules Match

  • Jamie Hayter (NA)
  • Saraya (NA)

After missing over a year with a back injury, Jamie Hayter returned to AEW at the All In PPV in her home country of the UK. She made an immediate impact upon her return by taking out Saraya and Harley Cameron.

Hayter, who changed to the orange-haired Becky Lynch look, has continued to be a thorn in Saraya’s side since that event. On The August 28th episode of Dynamite, Hayter defeated Cameron in her first match back with the promotion. Things didn’t end there.

On the September 20th episode of Rampage, Saraya tried to interfere in Cameron’s match with Hikaru Shida. However, Hayter came out and chased off Saraya. This allowed Shida to hit the Falcon Arrow on Cameron and pick up the victory.

An enraged Saraya then challenged Hayter to a match at Grand Slam. Yet, the match will be contested under “Saraya’s Rules” which nobody knows what that is as of this writing. And, it hasn’t been confirmed if that match will be on Dynamite or Collision.

At this point, Saraya has become a stepping stone for other women to rise up in the ranks. And, that’s fine considering she’s still enough of a name to provide this service. It’s also an easy feud to make for Hayter upon her return as AEW slowly builds her back up to a contender for the world title that she once held.

Even though we have no idea what the rules are for this match, we can expect Hayter to walk away with the victory. I don’t see AEW having Hayter lose in her first big storyline match since her long-awaited return.

Bet: Jamie Hayter (NA)

Tornado Trios Match

  • The Conglomeration (NA)
  • The Learning Tree (NA)

This is without a doubt one of the matches I don’t want to watch. I’m beyond sick and tired of Chris Jericho and The Learning Tree. Big Bill really needs to be removed from this group and given a big singles push. The fans want it and he’s definitely got the look.

As for The Conglomeration, this group has run its course as well. They’ve turned Kyle O’Reilly into a complete goofball. Orange Cassidy doesn’t need a group and Mark Briscoe can easily align with others. I would love to see him in a faction or team with Lance Archer.

This storyline has done very little to get any wrestler over. It’s been nothing more than a filler instead of AEW finding better storylines and feuds for most of these wrestlers. Jericho needs to replace Christopher Daniels or join the commentary team.

Ranting aside, The Learning Tree needs this win more than The Conglomeration but I see the latter picking up the victory.

Bet: The Conglomeration (NA)

FTW Championship Match

  • Hook (-5000)
  • Roderick Strong (+1600)

Hook is one of the biggest betting favorites for the entire Grand Slam two-part event. And, honestly, it makes no sense to me. Roderick Strong is one of the best in-ring workers for the promotion. Additionally, he has Bennett and Taven to help him out when needed.

So, making Hook this big of a favorite is a bit crazy if you ask me. There’s clearly no value to Hook’s odds. And, I really don’t see any value to Hook’s character.

Over the summer, there were rumors of Hook potentially leaving AEW for a run with WWE at the end of the year. I was one of the few that said – let him go.

Hook’s character lacks depth, in-ring versatility, and should be in a tag-team with Samoa Joe instead of on his own. I would rather see Kyle O’Reilly get a big single’s push like this than Hook.

I would love to see Strong win the title but I highly doubt AEW gives Hook the loss here. Take Taz’s baby boy for the win.

Bet: Hook (-5000)

Continental Championship Eliminator Match

  • Kazuchika Okada (NA)
  • Sammy Guevara (NA)

After Sammy Guevara and Dustin Rhodes successfully defended their ROH tag team titles on the September 21 episode of Collision, Guevara challenged Kazuchika Okada to a Continental Title eliminator match on the Dynamite episode of Grand Slam.

How this stipulation works is that if Guevara wins, he gets a title shot at the 5-year anniversary episode of Dynamite in a few weeks. So, some fans think there’s a chance of Guevara pulling off the upset.

It would actually be cool if he somehow cheated to win or maybe the Callis Family comes out and interferes to help Guevara win. They have a feud going against Okada right now.

More than likely, Okada will pick up the victory in what should be an entertaining match. We all know what Guevara, “The Spanish God”, can do in the ring. He’s fearless. Just this past weekend in the ROH tag title match, he did a swanton off the top of a ladder for the win. He’s done crazier things before.

Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening. This feels like AEW giving Okada a credible opponent and a solid platform for a notable win. Something along the lines of Ricochet beating Guevara previously on Dynamite.

Like I said before, if it can bring us one step closer to a series of matches between Okada and Konosuke Takeshita then I’m all for it. That’s the rivalry I want to see and I want AEW to give it a huge build, platform and time

Bet: Kazuchika Okada (NA)

Lumberjack Strap Match

  • Jeff Jarrett (NA)
  • “Hangman” Adam Page (NA)

Another match to come out of the September 21 Collision is this Lumberjack Stap match between Jeff Jarrett and Hangman Adam Page.

How this bout will operate is that Page and Jarrett will compete inside the ring, while a group of wrestlers will surround the ring armed with leather straps. If Page or Jarrett end up outside the ring then they will get whipped with the straps.

The feud between these two wrestlers has been entertaining. Jarrett has really become a selling point for this entire storyline arc of Hangman. Jarrett’s addition has solidified Page’s walk on the dark side. And it’s also made it more relatable as JJ passionately expressed his history of walking this path.

This is going to be a brutal match. It could end up being a no contest or a DQ depending on how AEW wants to go with the outcome.

There are numerous lumberjacks including Jarrett’s friends Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh. Addiitonally, there will be The Bang Bang Gang, The Conglomeration and The Dark Order.

I mean, we could even see Page getting beat up by everyone of the lumberjacks due to his behavior. When the odds come out, the safe bet will be on Page to win. It would make no sense to have him lose after just beating Swerve Strickland in a high-profile cage match.

The only scenario where Page can lose the match, but not lose credibility, is if the lumberjacks get involved. We’ll see if Tony Kahn decides to go that route or not.

Bet: “Hangman” Adam Page (NA)

Will There Be Any Big Suprises At Grand Slam?

AEW just added a segment to Dynamite Grand Slam where Prince Nana gives an update on Swerve Strickland. This would be a great way to make people think Strickland isn’t at the show, but then he comes out and interferes in the strap match to help Jarrett win.

I really want to see Ospreay and Fletcher win the tag titles. However, it’s hard to think that AEW is going to take the belts off the Young Bucks despite how boring this reign has been.

Would also love to see Guevara get a surprise win by roll-up or interference from Don Callis Family. This could be a big help to Guevara and create buzz with the fans.

There could be some shenanigans with Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuiness. The latter could retire after the match if he loses. The former could get involved and cost The BCC to lose the trios titles or Moxley to lose his match with Allin.

The last bit of rumor or buzz is the possibility of some wrestlers debuting. Fans have been hoping Bobby Lashley shows up in AEW. This would be a great launching pad for the superstar.

AEW Grand Slam History

The first AEW Grand Slam event was held in 2021 at the Arthur Ashe venue. It originally aired as two-part event to cover both Dynamite and Rampage. This schedule continued for the first three years until Collision came along last summer.

The 2024 edition of Grand Slam will maintain it’s same format and venue. However, the 2025 edition will see a significant change from years past.

2021 AEW Grand Slam

The 2021 AEW Grand Slam event was a big show considering that AEW had recently returned to live touring following the Covid pandemic.

It was a historic moment for AEW because it was the first time that the promotion held a show in WWE’s backyard.

The first night of Grand Slam featured a main event match of Dr. Britt Baker defending her title against a recently debuting Ruby Soho. The second night saw Jon Moxley team up with Eddie Kingston to battle Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki and Lance Archer) in a Lights Out match.

Yet, there were numerous big-time storylines heading into this show. In addition to Soho’s recent debut, both Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson debuted at All Out 2021.

Danielson would go on to wrestle Kenny Omega at the 2021 Grand Slam event. They put on one of the promotion’s best matches in my opinion.

2022 AEW Grand Slam

The 2022 Grand Slam event was bigger and better than the year before. Now, AEW had been in full swing with tours and crowds. They also held an AEW World Title tournament at this time and it culminated in a match between Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. The latter would win the belt.

We also had some solid bouts with Sting and Darby Allin defeating The House of Black, the Golden Ticket Battle Royale won by Hangman Adam Page, and the culmination of a bitter rivalry between Ricky Starks versus Powerhouse Hobbs in a Lights Out match.

2023 AEW Grand Slam

By time the 2023 edition of Grand Slam came around, we were in the era of MJF as a babyface. He would successfully defend his AEW title against Samoa Joe. However, their story wasn’t over. It was just getting started.

Other memorable moments saw Rey Fenix defeat Moxley for the International Title, Saraya defeat Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Title, Kingston beat Claudio for the ROH World Title, and The Elite defeat The Mogul Embassy for the ROH Six-Man Tag Titles.

2024 AEW Grand Slam

You can read the full breakdown of the 2024 AEW Grand Slam above.

2025 AEW Grand Slam

To the surprise of many fans and pundits, AEW decided to move its annual Grand Slam event from New York to Australia. This marks the company’s first show in Australia and it will be a PPV event instead of a two-part television event.

The PPV show will be held at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. This will be AEW’s second international stadium show in addition to All In at Wembley Stadium.
