Sick of life on earth? I can’t blame you. Fortunately, you may not have to put up with it forever. Scientists and astronauts are laying the groundwork of life beyond this planet, and what transpires could make you wealthy.
If you haven’t heard about it yet – or even if you have – you may be left wondering what is the Artemis mission?
Well, it’s an ambitious journey through space, attempting to use the moon as a launchpad of sorts to Mars (and beyond).
Even crazier? The top online betting sites allow you to bet on the Artemis missions. These missions are specifically designed to potentially establish sustainable living situations on both the moon and the planet Mars, so debating which is a wilder concept is totally fair.
Regardless, there is money to be made here, so you need to wonder what will come of the first Artemis mission and the four subsequent planned missions. It’s anyone’s guess, but if you’d like, you can bet on it.
Let’s explore precisely how – and how you should bet – with a look at the mission timeline and the latest Artemis moon mission odds.
Artemis Mission Timeline
- Artemis 1 – Completed uncrewed test flight in Nov-Dec of 2022.
- Artemis 2 – Crewed mission scheduled for April of 2026.
- Artemis 3 – Crewed mission targeted for 2027 with landing planned.
- Artemis 4 – Crewed moon landing mission planned for September of 2028.
- Artemis 5 – Crewed moon landing mission planned for March of 2030.
- Artemis 6 – Crewed moon landing mission planned for March of 2031.
There are a lot of short and long-term goals of the Artemis moon missions, from placing the first woman and person of color on the moon, to finding a way for permanent living situations on Mars.
Let’s go over what each Artemis moon mission aims to accomplish in this Artemis NASA mission timeline breakdown:
Artemis 1
The first Artemis mission is already in the bag. Artemis 1 was completed from November to December in 2022, with an uncrewed test flight orbiting the moon.
Artemis 2
The second round of the Artemis moon mission is where things really get exciting. Scheduled for April of 2026, this will be the first crewed mission, transporting humans further than we’ve seen in history.
Artemis 3
If you’re not excited about the Artemis moon mission timeline yet, this is surely where things will switch gears. In the third stanza, presently boasting a target of mid-2027, a crewed flight plans to actually land on the moon.
If successful, it will also be the first return to the moon for humans since Apollo 17 in 1972.
Artemis 4-6
The first Artemis mission was necessary for proper planning, but missions 4-6 are where things get real. Mission four will aim to deliver a core module of the lunar Gateway and aim to expand the capabilities of the Gateway.
The fifth mission will add another module to the lunar Gateway, aiming to expand its functionality and capacity. This should involve another crewed moon landing, further development of operations on the moon, and continued technological advancements toward deep space exploration.
Finally, Artemis 6 should focus on a more permanent human presence on the moon, and will involve longer-duration missions and extended stays. The mission will continue the expansion of the lunar Gateway, while further advancing technologies and strategies for future missions – including a potential mission to Mars.

Artemis Mission Predictions
The Artemis moon mission is an exciting one, but it’s worth noting that we haven’t seen a crewed spaceship land there in quite some time. Due to this, it’s necessary to consider every betting option before finalizing your wagers:
2025 or Before (+1000)
This is a major longshot and the first bet I’d avoid. Artemis 1 completed its mission successfully, but the second installment of the proposed timeline has Artemis 2 landing in 2026. That probably takes a 2025 human landing off the table.
2026 (-150)
This is the favorite for a reason. There have been a lot of hiccups and delays along the way, but with the first test flight out of the way, sights are concretely set on humans returning to the moon in the very near future.
It could always be delayed again, but the crew has over a year to achieve the due date of April 2026. The -150 odds reflect this being the most likely scenario, but a series of delays – not to mention the fact that a human moon landing hasn’t happened in 52 years – suggests it’s not exactly a lock.
2027 (+400)
If you think we’re inching close to a human landing on the moon again, but don’t mind taking on a little risk, I really don’t mind this bet for it all to go down in 2027, rather than 2026.
To be fair, the 2026 mission is pitched as a crewed mission, but not necessarily one for landing. That could be this 2027 trip, instead.
Numerous missions have been delayed and when it comes to space travel, takeoffs and landings need to go absolutely perfect. The slightest issue, and a takeoff can get cancelled or a landing will be aborted.
We’re getting close, though, so if you don’t think it happens in 2026, betting on a 2027 crewed moon landing isn’t crazy.
2028 (+600)
It feels like this mission is heating up, so barring something unforeseen, a return to the moon within the next couple of years feels very likely. The +600 odds are appealing and things go wrong with space travel planning, but this feels like a risky bet.
2029 (+800)
It’s much the same for this wager. Bettors would be banking on this detailed plan to be delayed by a whopping four years. Considering NASA’s history, it wouldn’t be unprecedented, but the build up to this mission suggests a delay of this magnitude would be very unlikely.
2030 or Later (+125)
There isn’t much upside with betting against the Artemis moon mission to this level. It’s not impossible for this entire mission to be scrapped and rebooted years down the road, but projecting it to be pushed back exactly five years with weak odds just doesn’t make any sense.
I’d either be banking on arriving on time, or being delayed by 1-2 years; not five.
When Will Artemis Astronauts Walk On The Moon?
If the presented timeline is accurate and nothing goes wrong, the best bet for when we actually see humans walk on the moon again in 2027.
It’s almost 2025 as I write this, so the second Artemis mission is set to come about a year from now, in April of 2026. Assuming that trip (which is not planned to have the crew land on the moon) goes well, the third visit back to the moon will have the crew actually step foot on the surface of the moon.
A return to the moon is a long time coming, while the entire point of these trips – further advancing our technology, reach, and knowledge of potential life in space – is even more exciting than the prospect of visiting the moon itself.
Delays have happened and may continue to happen, but 2027 (+400) is the projected target and happens to offer a really nice price. There’s no guarantee anything scheduled actually holds up, but two years from now bettors could see a nice little payday, depending on what they’re willing to risk on this wager.
Bet: 2027 (+400)
