On Monday, July 1, 2024, the third Grand Slam of the year gets underway as the ATP’s top stars converge at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England.

Carlos Alcaraz is the reigning men’s Wimbledon champion and he’s also the odds-on favorite to win this year’s Grand Slam as well. Jannik Skinner and Novak Djokovic round out the Top 3 betting favorites for the sport’s most prestigious tournament. For the first time in two decades, the men’s field is as wide open as the Women’s Wimbledon Tournament.

Let’s take a look at the latest men’s Wimbledon odds, examine some tips for betting on tennis, and make our 2024 Men’s Wimbledon predictions. This tennis betting preview was written before the Men’s Wimbledon Draw.

Who Won Wimbledon 2023?

The 2023 Men’s Wimbledon Final was an instant classic as Carlos Alcaraz outlasted Novak Djokovic in a five-set masterpiece. It was a fantastic display of elite-level tennis among the sport’s top two stars. Alcaraz’s victory snapped Djokovic’s four-year winning streak at Wimbledon. Both men are odds-on favorites to compete for the 2024 Wimbledon title.

2024 Men’s Wimbledon Favorites

The following tennis players are considered the odds-on favorites to win the Men’s Wimbledon Tournament:

Carlos Alcaraz +140   

Carlos Alcaraz is the #2 ranked player on the ATP Tour, and the defending Wimbledon champion. As mentioned above, Alcaraz ended Djokovic’s illustrious reign at the All England Club with a five-set upset victory last year.

The Wimbledon championship marked the second Grand Slam title of his budding career. The first title came in the 2022 US Open, which was the year that Djokovic could not play due to the US’s COVID policy.

Alcaraz comes into this year’s Wimbledon on a high note having won the 2024 French Open and making a Quarter Finals appearance in the Australian Open, which is his best showing so far. He’s now 52-10 in Grand Slam play with a record of 11-2 at Wimbledon.

This year marks the Spaniard’s fourth appearance in Wimbledon. Prior to last year’s championship, Alcaraz never made it past the fourth round. With Djokovic recovering from surgery, it’s clear that Alcaraz is the man to beat in London.

Jannik Sinner +160

Jannik Sinner enters Wimbledon as the #1 ranked player on the ATP Tour. He’s 33-3 in singles matches this year and has already picked up three titles this season: Miami, Rotterdam and the Australian Open.

Sinner’s AO victory is the first Grand Slam title of his career. It marked a breakthrough into the sport’s upper echelon and should be the start of many more to come. He almost made it to the Finals of the French Open, but was stopped in the Semi Finals by Alcaraz, who went on to win the tournament.

Over his last four Grand Slams, Sinner has two Semi Final appearances and the Australian Open win. He’s definitely trending in the right direction, but will that continue at Wimbledon?

For his career, Sinner is 9-3 at Wimbledon in three appearances. His 2021 Wimbledon debut ended with a first-round exit. However, he improved to a Quarter Final appearance in 2022 and a Semi Final loss to Djokovic in 2023. If Alcaraz stumbles at all, or Djokovic doesn’t play, then Sinner has a great shot at winning another Grand Slam in 2024.

Novak Djokovic +375  

Currently, Novak Djokovic’s participation in the 2024 Wimbledon remains in doubt. He’s still recovering from a knee surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus sustained in the fourth round of the French Open. As of now, the #3 ranked player on the ATP Tour hasn’t ruled out playing at the All England Club.

Djokovic is one of the most prolific Wimbledon players of all time and will go down as one of The GOATs of tennis. He’s played in 18 Wimbledon tournaments so far and has won seven titles, which is good for second all-time. Djokovic is one behind Roger Federer’s all-time record of eight Wimbledon titles.

Djokovic has gone to the Wimbledon Finals in five consecutive years from 2018-2023. He won four in a row before Alcaraz dethroned him in 2023. For his career, Djokovic has 14 QF, 12 SF, and 9 Finals appearances. He’s also 92-11 at Wimbledon which equates to an 89% winning percentage.

If Djokovic is healthy, and can make a full return to tennis, he will be the favorite to win this tournament. Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening. If anything, I see Djokovic making it back in time to play for Team Serbia in the Paris Olympics.

2024 Men’s Wimbledon Betting Value

The following men’s tennis players are my picks for the best betting value heading into the Wimbledon Grand Slam based on their 2024 season stats and previous Wimbledon success:

Alexander Zverev +1400

The #4 ranked player in the world has yet to break through and win a Grand Slam title like the favorites above. However, he has put together a decent 2024 season so far. Currently, Zverev has gone 34-10 on the year, with one title. That tournament title came in Rome last month.

Following his Rome victory, the 27-year-old made it to the Finals of the French Open before losing to Alcaraz in four sets. In this year’s Australian Open, he made it all the way to the Semi-Finals before losing to Daniil Medvedev in a five-set war.

Zverev has shown flashes of brilliance on the clay and hard-court surfaces. Let’s not forget that he’s also the reigning men’s Olympic Gold champion in tennis. Unfortunately, he’s struggled with the grass of Wimbledon. In fact, it’s been his worst Grand Slam surface to date.

For his career, Zverev is 13-7 in seven All England Club appearances. He was bounced in the third round last year. His best appearance was a fourth-round loss in 2021. Zverev didn’t play at Wimbledon in 2022.

Alcaraz and Sinner have both broken through with first-time Grand Slam victories over the last few years. There’s no reason to think that a gold medalist-winning tennis player can’t do the same.

Daniil Medvedev +1800

The 28-year-old Russian star is currently ranked 5^th in the world. Unfortunately, he’s yet to pick up a win on the season and is 27-8 overall. But Medvedev does have two Finals appearances this year with a loss to Alcaraz at Indian Wells and a loss to Sinner at the Australian Open.

Medvedev’s Finals appearance at the Australian Open marked the third time that he’s accomplished that feat. In fact, dating back to the 2023 Wimbledon, the Russian tennis pro had a Semi Final appearance in London, a Finals appearance at the US Open, and this year’s AO Finals loss. That streak was broken at the 2024 French Open when he was eliminated in the fourth round.

For his career, Medvedev has a 79-27 Grand Slam record with one title on his resume – the 2021 US Open. He also has six Finals, eight Semi Finals, and nine Quarter Finals appearances in Grand Slam play.

At Wimbledon, Medvedev is 13-5 across five appearances. His SF outing last year, is his best result to date. Depending on his Draw, and with a little luck, we could see the Russian making another deep run at Wimbledon. 

2024 Men’s Wimbledon Longshot

Stefanos Tsitsipas (+3500) is my top longshot bet to win the 2023 Wimbledon. He’s yet to win a Grand Slam title in his career, but Tsitsipas does have two Finals, six Semi Finals, and eight Quarter Finals appearances.

Although he was bounced in the fourth round of the Australian Open this year, Tsitsipas did make it to the quarter-finals of the French Open before being eliminated by Alcaraz in three sets.

To date, Tsitsipas is 28-10 on the year and has collected one title so far. He won at Monte Carlo after defeating Casper Rudd. He followed that up with another Finals appearance in his very next tournament in Barcelona. Unfortunately, Rudd got revenge and defeated the Greek tennis star.

Tsitsipas has yet to make it past the fourth round of Wimbledon, which he’s done twice (2018, 2023). Last year he was upset by the unseeded Christopher Eubanks. I expect a better performance from Tsitsipas this year, especially with the field being wider open due to the potential absence of Djokovic. Look for Tsitsipas to make some noise in London and potentially pull off a few upsets.

2024 Wimbledon Men’s Predictions

We’ve seen three first-time winners at Wimbledon over the last three years. Could we see another?

If Djokovic is out, and I think he will end up missing this Grand Slam, then we’ll most likely get a first-time winner for the fourth year in a row. Yes, Alcaraz is the defending champ, but Sinner’s elevated level of play in 2024 could take him all the way to victory at the All-England Club.

On paper, Alcaraz appears to be the safer bet considering his 2023 Wimbledon victory, but Sinner is the top-ranked men’s player in the world, won his first career Grand Slam title in January, and will most likely end up as the top seed at Wimbledon. I’m taking Sinner to win the 2024 Wimbledon championship.
