On the site below the wager, it requires Banksy’s identity to be known without a shred of doubt, and for The Guardian to also acknowledge it as a fact.

These Banksy odds are only good through the end of 2026, too. Just something to keep in mind before you finalize any Banksy identity bets. With that, let’s break down the top favorite for this betting market and work toward unmasking this legendary artist.

Why is Robin Gunningham Favored to Be Revealed as Banksy?

The top favorite to be revealed as Banksy is Robin Gunningham, who reportedly resembles the description of a young Banksy. 

Cunningham was also spotted near a tree-themed painting in London, with onlookers suggesting he was Banksy in the flesh.

The real kicker? This isn’t the first time Robin Gunningham has been attached to Banksy. His name first popped up in an investigation back in 2008, and he’s been photographed with cans of spray paint nearby before.

There is also some speculation that Banksy at one point went by the name of Robin Banks. This is all conjecture, but the fact that Gunningham has popped up in correlation with Banksy and his street art is certainly interesting.

It hasn’t yet been enough to officially have him named as the real Banksy. You can bet on him and his +150 odds if you’re confident, but it might make sense to keep looking for more betting value.

Top Contenders to Be Revealed to Be Banksy

It’s tough to lean on any legit Banksy contenders, seeing as the evidence we have to go off is fleeting at best and irrelevant at worst.

That said, the real Banksy could boil down to a couple more candidates. Here are the two that stand out the most.

Your next best bet to correctly unveil who the real Banksy is might be Jamie Hewlett. The 56-year old comic artist has a similar timeline, and he matches the description people have reported in the past.

The artistic connection is obvious, too, while he’s a fellow Brit who would have been able to appear in many of the locales where Banksy art has been featured.

More important than any speculation is potential forensics evidence that paints Hewlett as Banksy. According to a forensics expert, who requested to not be named, suggested a company trail exists that directly attaches Hewlett to Banksy.

Per the report, a “J Hewlett” is associated with every company known to be connected to Banksy. In addition, Hewlett is perhaps most famous for his Gorillaz artwork, and Banksy’s gorilla stencil is suggested to appear in the band’s official music video, Tomorrow Comes Today.

Joy Millward and Thierry Guetta also deserve our attention due to the odds they’ve been assigned as potential Banksy candidates.

However, is an oddball wager like this, I am doing my best to follow the evidence (or lack thereof) and point you to the people I genuinely think might be the real Banksy.

That takes me to Robert Del Naja, who may have the most compelling argument for being the official Banksy of all.

Apparently there are eight signs this is the right guy, with DJ Goldie seemingly letting the cat out of the bag. Letting a name slip by itself means nothing, but there are other potential clues that align with Del Naja being the creative culprit.

Here are the big ones, per The Independent:

• Both spent their formative years in Bristol
• Their art is similar
• They publicly admit they’re friends
• They share the same community
• Banksy likes Massive Attack’s music
• Massive Attack’s tour dates align with Banksy sightings

Again, some of this is reaching, but there are loose indications that we’re either being messed with at a very high level, or Banksy and Robert Del Naja are simply the same guy.

Best Value Bet to Be Banksy by 2026

You’re not getting a ton of value if you bet on the top contenders to be named the real Banksy. It’s tough to feel confident about any of them, and yet the most logical choices max out at +600.

What fun is that? And how likely are they to actually be Banksy?

That has me considering a big splash like Goldie or Jeff Koons. Could Goldie’s public slip-up that nearly “outed” his pal have been a funny way of almost letting everyone know his little secret?

If he is the real Banksy, it would have been a genius move. Not only would it have completely kept anyone from speculating he was the mystery street artist, but it put more attention elsewhere.

Koons is an even bigger reach, of course. The renowned artist doesn’t have any real attachment to Banksy, but his +10000 price tag is pretty alluring.

Who Will Be Revealed to Officially Be Banksy?

I think the big thing to consider here is that Banksy doesn’t want to be found. His entire identity hinges on the fact that nobody knows who he is, plus a lot of his artwork is not even legal.

Considering much of what he has done is considered graffiti, Banksy doesn’t have any real motivation to show himself. There is a current legal case that may draw him out, but I doubt he’ll reveal himself if he can help it.

If you’re going to place a bet, you also should keep in mind that Bovada has a pretty clear disclaimer. You need this to be as legit as it gets, it needs to be confirmed by The Guardian, and the news needs to drop before 2027 rolls around.

We might be getting closer, though, and to this point, the best bet feels like Jamie Hewlett. He’s still a top favorite in the eyes of betting sites, and this Reddit post offers a pretty compelling case.

I’d bet on either him or Gunningham, but Hewlett’s artistic background and affiliation with the Gorillaz makes me like him the most. Of course, if I can help it, I’d probably just save my money and bet on something that is a bit more tangible.
