The 2024 Grey Cup features what should be an exciting showdown between the Toronto Argonauts and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Both teams have had stellar seasons, but they come into this game with different playing styles, strengths, and challenges. The Blue Bombers enter the game as sizable 10.5-point favorites, and with good reason. Toronto QB Chad Kelly will miss the Grey Cup after breaking his ankle in the Eastern Final victory over the Montreal Alouettes last week.
Below, I’ll break down the 2024 Grey Cup odds and make my prediction for the CFL championship game.ook at the latest Grey Cup odds, according to the best CFL betting sites, and make our 2024 Grey Cup predictions.

Toronto Argonauts Outlook
The Argonauts enter the Grey Cup as underdogs, but don’t let that fool you — they’ve been one of the CFL’s most balanced teams throughout the season. Unfortunately, the injury to Kelly casts a pall over what will be Toronto’s 25th Grey Cup appearance. Head coach Ryan Dinwiddie said after last week’s win over Montreal that backup Nick Arbuckle will be under center for the showdown against Winnipeg.
After Kelly was injured last week, Arbuckle came on and completed 5 of his 8 throws for 73 yards. While Arbuckle does have quite a bit of CFL experience, the Grey Cup will be his first-ever playoff start. He has a total of 84 appearances across 6 years in the league. The Argonauts initially signed the 31-year-old back in May when Kelly was handed a CFL suspension. He initially served as the third-stringer behind backup Cameron Dukes, but eventually overtook Dukes to become the backup to Kelly upon his return.
Having a QB with some experience will come in handy, even if he’s never started a playoff game before. Arbuckle acquitted himself well in the final game of the regular season when he started in place of Kelly in an otherwise meaningless game. The California native completed 23 of his 32 passes for 378 yards and a couple of touchdowns in a 31-30 overtime loss to the Edmonton Elks.
The defense came up huge for the Argos last week. Toronto forced Montreal into committing 6 turnovers, including a 1st-quarter pick-6 to give the Argonauts an early lead. The defense was also successful in limiting Montreal to field goal attempts despite several impressive drives. Special teams came up huge, as well, with Janarion Grant returning a punt 71 yards for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers Outlook
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are no strangers to the Grey Cup. This will be Winnipeg’s 29th appearance in the game, and their 4th in a row. The Blue Bombers beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to win the title back in 2021, but they’ve lost each of their last 2 appearances to the Argonauts and Alouettes.
While they’re huge favorites in this game thanks to the unfortunate injury to Kelly, the Blue Bombers haven’t yet tasted success against the Argonauts this season. Toronto picked up a 16-14 win at home back in July before another 14-11 triumph in Winnipeg just last month. Arbuckle led the Argos to victory in the first game despite finishing with just 87 yards passing.
Winnipeg comes into this one in fine form. After a sluggish 0-4 start, the Blue Bombers enter the Grey Cup having won 9 of their last 10 games. That includes an easy 38-22 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders last week.
They’ve consistently been one of the best teams in the CFL, and this season was no different. Winnipeg’s success starts with their veteran quarterback, Zach Collaros, whose experience, quick decision-making, and accuracy make him a significant threat to any defense. Collaros has had another exceptional season, and his rapport with receivers like Kenny Lawler and Nic Demski has made Winnipeg’s passing attack difficult to stop.
Last week, Collaros completed 19 of his 26 throws for 301 yards, 4 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Winnipeg’s offense also benefits from a reliable ground game led by Brady Oliveira, who racked up 119 yards on 20 carries in an efficient showing last week vs. Saskatchewan.
Defensively, the Bombers are among the league’s elite. The secondary is well-coordinated and has shown they can capitalize on mistakes, something Arbuckle will need to be cautious about. Overall, Winnipeg’s defense is the type that forces opponents into errors and then capitalizes on them — a big reason why they’re favored in this matchup.
Key Grey Cup Matchups to Watch
- Nick Arbuckle vs. Winnipeg’s Defensive Line
Arbuckle has shown he can handle pressure, but Winnipeg’s front four is arguably the best in the CFL. If the pass-rushers can get to Arbuckle early, it could force Toronto into a more conservative game plan, limiting their explosive plays. - Toronto’s Secondary vs. Zach Collaros
Toronto’s defense has shown weaknesses in their pass coverage, especially against elite quarterbacks. If Collaros can find a rhythm with his receivers early, it could spell trouble for the Argos.
Who Will Win the Grey Cup?
The Argos have enjoyed a terrific season, but the injury to Kelly couldn’t have come at a worse time. I don’t doubt that Arbuckle can acquit himself well enough to keep them in the game, but Winnipeg is the most battle-tested team in the CFL.
This is a golden opportunity for the Blue Bombers, especially after back-to-back defeats in the Grey Cup. I don’t think they’ll let this opportunity slip away. The only issue from a betting standpoint is that a 10.5-point spread is huge for any championship game. Toronto’s defense showed last week it’s capable of spearheading a victory, but the Bombers’ stacked offense will present an entirely different challenge than the one they aced last week against Montreal.
Take the Blue Bombers to win and cover the 10.5-point spread in Vancouver on November 17th.
Bet: Winnipeg Blue Bombers -10.5 (-108)
